The Elder Scrolls Discussion

And the forsworns? don't forget that the conquerors argument can also apply to the nordics and ulfric, they threw the fornsworns off the reach, and forbade their ancient religion, in the name of the empire, just as how now the empire tries to (lazily, in this case) forbid the cult to talos, under duress from the thalmor.

...Just like we did. Thank you for proving my point. :)

Actually, all I proved is that saying the empire is bad for attempting to prohibit a religion (actually, a part of it) is the same as calling ulfric bad for driving the (not then) forsworn from markarth.
As ysmir pointed, the empire doesn't trust the thalmor, but is at the moment trying to catch its breath to come back later, while ulfric was very happy to take the reach, the fact that it was for the empire didn't matter much. That there is a major difference in favor of the empire.

Aaaaaaaand you left while I was writing.

well... Wanna discuss something, ysmir? not the empire, though, given that we agree in that matter.

Not to mention that it is well-known Ulfric is xenophobic at best and quite racist at worse and does not help anyone who is a non-Nord or he considers beneath him. That includes human races like Bretons and Imperials, his racism is not just limited to the Elven races although he has most hatred for them.

Exactly. How do the game deals with that if you are not nord and join the stormcloaks? I mean, a high elf player joining forces with ulfric wouldn't be a relationship with much future.

The player NPC is exempt from this rule because Bethesda always sets up the Hero (i.e. Champion of Cyrodiil, The Nerevarine etc) as someone who can be anyone. So that's not an accurate example since the player is exempt from the rule. Of course it doesn't change how other races view us in general but w/e.

Though there are race-specific elements in Skyrim. I almost killed Belrand when he told my Bosmer to go back to her forests, little elf. And my dunmer wasn't treated hospitably at candlehearth hall.

Oh, too bad, I was expecting to be some difference, as when you are an orc you can get into the brotherhood whitout having to retrieve the smithing gauntlets.

Again there is a difference between how your race affects the story and how the general population treats you according to your race. Generally speaking, your race has no bearing on the storylines like the main quest and Thieve's Guild. But that doesn't mean that Nord guy you meet in a tavern in Whiterun isn't gonna call you a Goldenrod (racial slur) if you happen to be a High Elf. See the difference between storylines and general population?

Yep, I get it now, never been other than a female imperial on the empire's side, so I don't know much about all the changes. Also, goldenrod, haha, I got it, it's good.

It would be interesting if in newer games the daedric princes were like the guilds, right?, giving tasks, carrying their orders and giving buffs. Besides the sidequests with awesome objects they never had many weight in the stories, right? except for merhunes dagon, of course.

Eh, that wouldn't make much sense. The Daedric Princes like followers but they don't need them as far as I know. The Princes usually only value their subjects so long as they remain useful to them of course there are exceptions like Azura but even she really only cares about her Worshipers. Having a guild would be pointless because most who worship the Princes follow them already. As evidenced by many of the games Priests and Priestess of [insert Daedric Prince here] do what ever they are commanded. It's not like you can really "rank up" like you could in the College or Mages Guild etc because every task is personally delivered by vision, Daedric avatar, messenger, follower of said Prince, or someone higher up (Like a High Priestess or Prince themselves like a manifestation).

I guess I COULD see sort of a Coven/Cult/Guild of followers for less dangerous Daedra (I use that word dangerous very lightly as ALL Princes are extremely dangerous) like Azura, Meridia etc. But Princes like Mehrunes Dagon, Boethiah, Malacath etc heck to the no. They would tear each other apart literally.

I meant like the guilds in terms of radiant quests, not like rising up the ranks. I mean, the daedric quests are basically: do me a favor, I give you a trinket and name you my champion in the mortal realm, and that's it. In the TG questline, the dragonborn pledges himself to serve nocturnal even after death, and it is treated with the same reverence as you would do a terms and conditions agreement. same with all the rest of the princes, you end up being the champion of all daedric princes, even those who are mortal enemies and nothing happens. What I was thinking was that maybe you get tasks from them every once in a while, like delivering something, kill other followers, kill followers of other daedra, destroy an army of undead (for meridia), protect other azura's followers, gather 2000 wheels of cheese, etc and you can't follow more than one at a time, and if you abandon them, you lose the prize. that sort of thing.

I'll leave our last discussion at this. I appreciate both the rebels and the empire, because without them ther wouldn't be any points on that subject for us to discuss.
As for the daedric princes... I help them whenever I can. Is that wrong, because usually it makes me feel bad afterwards.

I'm crossing my fingers for the Summerset Isle as the location of TES VI, I love all Elves, and I'd love to see more of the Altmers' culture. As for TES:O, I'm sure I'll love it when/if I do get it, it's just that I won't be getting a next-gen console for a while because of that huge price tag. My PC could probably run it, as one of the main selling points throughout its development was the promise that it would run on virtually any machine, but I'd rather play it on Xbox, not sure why.

Haven't played Skyrim in a long time. Oh look, the holidays started. Oh look, Hearthfire, Dawnguard and Dragonborn, the three add-ons I haven't even started.

*starts Dawnguard*

Eh. Vampires and a Crossbow... Oh,
an Elder Scroll?
maybe this is good?

*starts Dragonborn*

Hm... Well, Solsthiem look nice. Its a really big Island to just be DLC... Oh, a cave with a Dragon Priest in it... I'm sure I won't spend three hours constantly saving after a single hit, and developing a new strategy, as well as rage quitting many times because Lydia got in the way and I shot he dead.

*starts Hearthfire*

You get to build a house? BORING. *starts building the three houses all at the same time. THIS IS THE MOST AMAZING THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO A VIDEO GAME. I MUST GIVE UP EVERYTHING I HAVE EVEN DONT TO GET ENOUGH GOLD TO BUY, MINE AND COLLECT WOLD AND IRON!

Seriously, that's how I felt with all three add-ons (and I under-exaggerated with the Dragon Priest. I think I had to reload the game after killing Lydia maybe, 50 times?)

EDIT:

Also, where is everyone else hoping VI is on? I'm hoping for Elsywr (I think I spelled that right). I'e played through Skyrim about 5 times now (never actually even going past the Alduin's Bane in the quest line) and every time, I play as a Khajjit.

It might help if you play around with other characters. The game becomes less stale when you do that.

Nah, roaming around as a cat and then have ladies call you handsome and then just look at them going 'I'm a cat... Cats aren't handsome.' Is fun. Also, I get to beat Uthgerd to death with mah claws (I use Uthgerd as my main follower up until about Lvl 20)

James86134, have you beaten the Ebony Warrior? because he gave me a run for my money :p

I must say, he was VERY hard for me. I died twice before I killed him.

He knocked me off the mountain the first time, and then having low health doesn't help either, but I took advice from this page and then he was dead, I am now deemed the strongest in the land. It is still hard to take down a Legendary Dragon, but I like the challenge. I wonder if there is a smallest chance that you can face 2 legendary dragons at once :p?

You might be able to fight two at once, but unless you really have the Bend Will shout from the Dragonborn Expansion, or Dragonrend, you'd be screwed.
