The End of the World as We Know It

Got it? Good. The worlds not going to end in 2012, but it sure is fun messing with my friends about it. Gosh, media has taken over our feeble minds

@Project696. How do you know? Did they told you so? And even IF they did, how would they now? Is it me, or is it mostly people from the US believing this? It's really funny; UFO's, zombies, big foot and OMGworldwilldie, they all start in the US, coincidence?

It's a really large country, Pokequaza. The most populous English-speaking country in the world by far. It's only natural.

@Project696: That's not really true. The Mayan calendar repeats itself at the end of each cycle. There is no "last cycle".

You know the Aztecs believed the world had already ended 5 times? If that says something...

But our world is very unstable. Massive population, unsustainability etc. will all become very important if we cannot work out effective ways around them.

I don't think the universe will end, but technology keeps on evolving so "the world as we know it" is ending all the time.

No, the universe won't end.(non-religiously speaking) The question was, what do you think will cause the end of the human race.

Well i think it could be related to the universe, maybe the sun will stop producing enough energy, i think thats why life is incredible because there are so many factors that could have gone wrong, yet here we are.Actually if you think of it there will always be a risk of something bad. Also it has been said that our Galaxy is aproching Andromeda in a relatively fast rate, but if it ever happens it will be really far in the future

If we look at 2012 logically, it's a loop. We go back through our 5,215 years again, then we start again. And again. And again.

Zombie Apocalypse is not plausible to me.

However, the water is not renewable when we pollute to such an extent. Acid rain is defiantly not drinkable, now is it?
And, most of the water on the planet is found in the oceans, so it is salt water and therefore nondrinkable. That means that 97% of water on Earth is undrinkable of the 70.9% that makes up the surface of the planet.

Yeah and look at the state of the human race today. :D

And that is true! We have screwed up the world to the point where it is beyond fixing!

/BeforePoint/
Today in school, my friend said something that really got me thinking and confused, although it seems highly unreal. Here is our conversation.

Me:Hey I just had some De Ja Vu moment Lool.
Him: Do you know what De Ja Vu is?
Me:Yeah, sort of.
Him:Well I think it's that you used to have a life, and when you died, you were born again, only in a different person and no idea about your previous life, well, because you died and your brain stopped working, and when you go through this life, you get moments of De Ja Vu because you remember something really little in your past life and it is very similar to what just happened.
Me:Wow, and you think that's true, seriously it is kind of weird.
Him:Well yeah, but it could be. I still believe in God though, afterlife could basically be that.
Me:Maybe?

So that's basically what happened. I know it seems really untrue and De Ja Vu is proven to be not this, but what if it was.

Anyway back to the point. The world will probably end when we lose all our resources and such because we are using them up fast. However I think that someone (maybe me) will invent a space ship or something or other that will be able to travel into other places that are out of reach now. Think about it, there might be another "human" planet out there somewhere. There is so many planets and "Solar Systems" as I will call them out there that there probably is one. Also on TV I watched that they discovered water on the moon so we could use that for stuff. So basically if the world does end it's because of the resources because the Earth is just 1 thing and it will go away some time.

I wouldn't bet any money on there being another planet with humans out there. Then again, so little is impossible.

@Ludicolo909, your trying to find a humanoid species on another planet. Other organisms, probably, but a species exactly like us is downright improbable.
