BW/BW2 The Future Games Speculation Thread

^.......what? they just did that in HGSS. when you beat 1 elite 4 you go to the next one.

@catutie, that's 2 regions in HGSS. Runeon is completely correct. Your objection is HGSS with 2 regions? Guess what that's easy to hit, they did it with a gameboy in GS. 6 regions is an entirely different story. Also, there was only 1 elite four in HGSS, Kanto and Johto shared it.

6 regions is overkill. By the 3rd or 4th region you'd be already at Lv100 and the remaining region's gyms will be a walk in the park and the whole capture-battle-train mechanic will start to reek of tedium.

It's like imagine if they made a Halo game where you could explore all 7 Halos... will the game even have enough significant material to fit that many world locations...

you would have to start with a new starter each region. they keep your pokemon or...um idk. it wouldnt be to tedious. if you like playing the games its like 6 games in 1

It would be like playing 1 game from every Pokemon generation, but once you beat your first region you leave your Pokemon behind (you can only use those pokemon in the first region at this point) and start with the next region's starter, then when you beat that region you can use all of your Pokemon in both regions, and so on. Basically, you start a new region with a new starter, and when you beat that region you can use any of your pokemon for side quests and after-story gameplay in THE REGIONS You HAVE BEATEN. That way it won't get tedious since each new region has a new story and you won't be destroying every route 1/29/101/201/Unova1 trainer when you start. And say when you get to Hoenn you unlock double battles, and new features as you go along regions.

I'm really hoping for Gen3 remakes, but I REALLY hope they aren't called AquaSapphire and MagmaRuby

I don't seea problem with that.^
How about TerraRuby and HydroSapphire, CrimsonRuby and NavySapphire, ScarletRuby and CobaltSapphire, etc?

I would have to agree here. Even by the third region in the game, the whole thing would already be very stale and boring...who really wants to beat up on the Level 20 wild Pokemon and Trainers with your whole team of Level 100s? Another issue would be if a DS card could even fit the full-fledged six regions. In order to work, most of the regions would have to be significantly downgraded, both in size and the activities you could do in those regions. In fact, it was because of cartridge space issues that GSC Kanto was watered-down from RBY Kanto. Many routes were shortened, many things in the originals weren't found in the GSC Kanto, and some other minor things were eliminated. With a six-region game, it would become much worse, possibly to the point where the region wouldn't even be recognizable. Thus, making it almost pointless.

You would also need to consider the idea from Nintendo's perspective. If you worked at Nintendo, would you rather sell six $35 games, that offer a more complete play experience? Or just one game, where the ordinary experience is entirely watered down? (thus possibly decreasing sales compared to another main title, especially among young kids) Speaking of young kids, a lot of them would also be turned off by the sheer length of the game. The sales number would even further decrease. Between the watered-down and boring play experience, the lengthy development time, and the money factor, it would seem entirely foolish to make a six-region game.

A possible solution to the "Level 100s beating up everything else" issue could be to place a restriction on the Pokemon you could use for each region. For instance, every time you entered a new region, you would be forced to start with a starter Pokemon from that region, and you would have no access to anything you caught in the previous region. As you claimed your badges, your ability to access your older Pokemon would gradually be restored. (For example, if you have gotten 2 badges, you could use Pokemon from older regions up to Level 30) Once you have beaten the Elite Four in that region, all of your Pokemon are again accessible, until your travel to the next region. Rinse and repeat for all regions.

That being said, I don't really see that solution working out, as I could easily forsee big qualms being made about it. R/S sales suffered for the lack of connectivity to previous titles, and I think this solution would receive similar reception, if not even worse. Younger kids might also avoid buying the game because of this, especially if they are "locked" from using their powerful Charizard for most/all of the region. In conjunction with the weak regions, this isn't really much more desirable than the "Level 100 beatdown" mode that would happen otherwise.

In conclusion, an "all regions" game would not be enjoyable to play through, practical to make, nor even a good business move from Nintendo/GameFreak's perspective. Combined with the fact that with the B/W being a reboot, (thus they are moving on from older regions) I can't see that kind of game being released anytime soon, if ever.

On the topic of RS remakes, I'll likely make a much larger post on the subject at some point, but I'm holding off for now. However, I will say that I do think we will get them at some point, but not in the near future.

The only way an all region game would work is that everytime you are about to go to a new region you would have to leave all of your pokemon in the region you just completed. But an all region game is on the never gonna happen list.

You know what I wanna see?

3rd Gen remakes, - MagmaRuby AquaSapphire
Third Gen V Game - Crimson/Grey

and..

One thing I've thought of before.. what if they remade the third versions of games in the future (e.g. Yellow/Blue, Crystal, Emerald, Platinum).. I mean.. a few more generations, and do that?

I believe that the DS catridges can hold up to 8GB/MB (i dont know which one), but only use about 1-2GB/MB so there would be space for more non-downgraded regions

well i was thinking of a star wars based gen in the future like main legends vader kenobi yoda and emeror and the 3rd version be luke. and the region has multiple islands based on the planets they go to. each version (1st and 2nd not 3rd) would have 2 main legends

i have a theory for gr(e/a)y witch goes to catch the Tao trio. so N catches both zek and resh. so you go to N's castle and you catch kyruem beat the living crap out of N he releases dragons beat elite4 again voila you can get zek and resh.

Or. you can only get get kyruem and zekrom or resheram dependent and your id gender and stuff like that

I was just checking the english names of the new items on serebii and the God Stone seems to have been removed from the English versions of Black & White... I don't know how to interpret this in regard to a future 3rd game...

well, the thing is it's not known what's its purpose but many people (including me) theorize it has something to do with the 3rd game of gen V and Kyurem... Also, the only way to get it in japanese Black & White games is using cheat codes...

But they removed it from the english games, so I don't know what to think about it anymore...

^im thinking that it was accidentally left in and then the game got released and then hackers found it and were like whaaaaaaat....just like mew
