The End:
A young trainer, with the help of his friends, battled the leaders of Team Plasma. Calling upon the Legendary Dragon, this young hero was able to defeat Team Plasma and put an end to their plot for Pokémon Liberation. The 7 Sages were arrested and N disappeared. Life in Unova had returned to normal.
The Beginning:
All seemed peaceful in Unova five years after Team Plasma disbanded. But this was only on the surface. In the shadows, Team Plasma was being reborn. Lead by a man known only as “R”, Plasma stayed hidden, slowly acquiring followers without detection. Only small hints of their existence reminded the public of how close they came to Pokémon Liberation before. The Team Plasma emblem spray painted in alleys, the occasional whispers. However, as Team Plasma gained more followers, their momentum picked up. Soon, there were branches of the team in every Unovan city. After only 5 years, Team Plasma was back.
The Conflict:
Plasma propaganda posters were on lamp posts and walls throughout the streets of Unova. More people started believing that the capture and battling of Pokémon was slavery. A clear divide was forming between people. Families and neighbors feuded with one other over the morality of capturing Pokémon. Plasma members started having rallies and demonstrations in cities. Law enforcement, fearful of a repeat of what happened ten years ago, was strict on Team Plasma. There were many cases where members of the team were arrested with no explination. One rally led by Plasma members in Driftveil City ended with Law Enforcement stepping in. The rally turned into a brawl and the police beat and arrested many members. This caused a ripple effect of riots across Unova in protest of the violence the police used. The riots escalated into battles in the streets between Plasma supporters and their opposition. Law enforcement, including Gym Leaders and the Elite Four, took the Opposition’s side. They fought to take back control of their cities. Plasma turned out to be an even match for the Opposition, and fights continued to break out. The violence escalated until a full blown civil war.
The War:
The nation had been divided. Plasma, headquartered in Castelia City, easily took control of the city and the towns to the east of Sky Arrow Bridge. The Opposition held strong in Opelucid City, and the other northern cities of Unova. Nimbasa and Driftveil had turned into lawless no-man’s-land, where violence often broke out. Plasma adapted to a guerrilla warfare technique. The Opposition tried to hold on to older traditions of fighting, but soon found that deploying ten year old children into battle would only backfire. This enemy was bigger and fiercer than any before. As hard as they fought, the Opposition lost city after city to Plasma. Any Gym Leaders captured were publicly executed by R himself in order to rally his supporters, and discourage his enemies into submission. The war was turning in the favor of Team Plasma.
The Last Stand:
The remaining members of the Elite Four, led by Alder, knew that R was planning an attack on their establishment any day in order to gain control of Team Plasma’s Castle. They prepared for battle, and waited for Team Plasma to march through Victory Road. It did not take long. The army rushed at the Pokémon League. Even though the Elite Four had the strongest Pokémon in Unova, they were no match for the sheer number of challengers. All their efforts were in vein and they had to surrender. Chained and cuffed, they were led into the castle. Here, they came face to face with R. R showed no mercy. With cries of support from the masses, each Elite Four member was executed. After three long years of fighting, Team Plasma had won the war. R was now king of Unova.
R’s Rule:
There was no time for celebration after the victory. R began enforcing his new laws the very next day. Over Seers were assigned one to each city. Their job was to make sure that R’s laws were being followed and enforced in their sectors. Most of these Over Seers were power hungry and corrupt, and used their position of power to every advantage they could get.
Pokémon were seized from all trainers and promptly released. Pokeballs were outlawed. Anyone caught with a Pokémon or pokeball were arrested immediately. Only Over Seers and specially appointed law enforcers were allowed to own Pokémon.
R became paranoid of any opposition, and he created new laws and programs to defer any group from ever becoming a threat. First, he called for an immediate government takeover of the media. No news was printed, no TV shows aired, no radio shows allowed, unless they were approved by R himself. A strict curfew was enforced, no one was allowed out of their houses past 9 o’ clock unless they had a signed worker’s pass. Anyone caught out past curfew were arrested and questioned. No large public gatherings were permitted either, unless organized by the government. Groups of 10 people or more were not allowed. Anyone suspected of opposition to the Plasma rule would be swiftly arrested, or they would simply disappear.
10 Years After R took power:
The Unovan economy was collapsing. While Over Seers and law enforcement were living in luxury, the citizens were suffering. The middle class had almost completely dried up and a large separation of classes formed. Over Seers controlled the taxes in their sectors, and many of them raised them to unpayable levels. People struggled to make ends meet. Food was becoming scarce, affordable food even scarcer. Many houses stood vacant, their old occupants no longer able to make the payments. In some cities this was worse than others. Castelia, for example, was once a Metropolis with a surging economy. Now it is a ghost of its former self. The docks are empty of trade boats. The desert to the north has slowly started to overtake the city, turning the northern most parts into a dusty wasteland. The streets littered with trash and people without homes. Apartments were either crowded with people or empty because they are too expensive. Many businesses failed so commerce is almost now existent. This is largely in part of the Over Seer, who has taxed Castelia with the highest taxes in all of Unova.
Citizen’s are under constant watch by law enforcement and live in fear. Fear to even show the slightest anger or distrust in their leaders. There is not a single Unova who doesn’t know of someone who was arrest or gone missing after being suspected of treason. This fear has created an obedient public.
Children are made to go to government run schools. In these schools, kids are taught to love R and their leaders. They are told of the barbaric times before R’s rule when Pokémon were used as slaves, when horrible people ruled the land that forced these creatures to live their lives fighting for the enjoyment of humans. They were told that back in those days, your social status depended on how many other Pokémon your Pokémon could kill. Many children were not alive or too young to remember this time in history, and took the government’s word for it. They believed that the people of that time were sick and twisted, and Pokémon Liberation was for the best. Parents who did live back then were not able to tell their children how it really was, how Pokémon and trainers were friends. Anyone one who contradicted the teachings were arrested for heresy and often never seen again.
Alder’s Army:
Alder’s Army is a secret organization that is going to attempt to bring down R and his reign over Unova. Stationed right now in Straiton City, in the cellar of a pub, the group is plotting to overthrow the cities Over Seer and begin the conquest of Unova. Their leader (name undecided) has been able to illegally acquire a shipment of Pokémon, which he will entrust to each member. This is where you come in…
Where You Come In:
You have joined Alder’s Army and are planning on fighting a long and hard battle to liberate Unova from the Pokémon Liberator himself! You will go city by city, taking out Over Seers and freeing the cities from their rule. The final goal is Plasma Castle, where R resides. You will be given one basic Pokémon to begin with, which you will be able to choose. However, make sure it is a Pokémon you like, because with pokeballs banned catching new Pokémon will have to be a rare occurrence. It has been 13 years since the war began, so take that into account when making your character.
