Help The "Is There A Card That Does This?" Thread

Thanks yeah i was kinda asking that question with lucario in mind.

Is there a card that keeps your opponet from retreating in the standard format?

No problem! If you're interested in Lucario, I'd recommend playing him with Captivating Pokepuff to force down some Pokémon onto their bench. I'd also recommend Buddy-buddy rescue. It will serve as a way to cycle Lucario and Riolu back, and double as a way to guarantee to hit something off Pokepuffs.

I don't want to go more I to detail than that here at risk of going off topic, but if you make a list and would like some feedback, post in the Deck Garage and I'll be happy to help.

As for your question about stopping Pokémon from retreating, there are a few attacks that do it. Trevenant EX and Galvantula STS come to mind. The new Toxipex from Sun & Moon poisons the new Pokémon they bring active, so this discourages them from retreating.

Hi again!

I was wondering if someone could point out any Pokemon cards or Trainer/item cards that allow you to attach energies from your DISCARD pile, back to a pokemon in play? In a similar fashion to the Eelektrik from the Black and White format. Type of energy doesn't matter.

Thanks in advance!
Bronzong phantom forces does metal energy and volcanion sts does fire energy through an attack.

Assuming you mean standard, the only ways to accelerate water energy that come to mind are:

Palkia EX
Togekiss (ancient trait)
Max Elixir

Expanded has Blastoise (deluge) and maybe some other stuff

great! Thanks :)

For Standard:
With Lysandre's Trump card getting banned soon, is there any cards that allow you to get resources back into the deck?
I know of Pal Pad for Supporters, but is there anything for Items, Stadiums and Energies?

I'm not interested in using junk search sableye as it can only be used in darkness decks, I'd like something that could work in most decks.
Currently using a fighting deck, so anything that works in fighting decks would also help.
Brock's Grit allows you to shuffle any combination of 6 basic energy or basic pokemon back into your deck

Hi guys, this is for Standard:

Is there any card (trainer, pref) that has the same effect as Magnetic Storm?
If there's no trainer card, I can live with a Poké that has that as its ability.

If there are no such cards, then I'm looking for ways to take out resistances without the attacks being "ignore weakness and resistances", cause that can change my deck a lot.

Thank you!

I have an odd request.

I'm looking for a Basic Pokemon that has a WEIRD attack and/or WEIRD Pokémon Power (or Ability). It doesn't have to combo with anything or be particularly useful. It just has to be weird.

Here's a bit of context: I'm fine tuning an Imakuni? deck. The deck is nothing. It weird. As for a 'baseline' of weird, I have been playtesting Mysterious Treasures Mr. Mime (Trick Play being an awesomely weird attack) and Rocket Returns Delibird (a moderately useful Pokemon Power with a hilariously random attack in the form of Souvenir).

I understand that this is a request that's a bit subjective, I'm up for any suggestions as I feel like I'm missing cards as I'm thumbing through every set on Bulbapedia

Imakuni's doduo from evolutions is weird.

Ariados and hypno have abilities that poison and sleep both pokemon. Is ther a card that has an ability to confuse both pokemon? Similar to haunter, but one i can activate

If you have about $300 to spend, Gold Star Espeon has 'Purple Ray' whivh'll confuse both actives.

If you REALLY want to go retro, Dark Gloom

Spinda Secret Wonders (or POP series 7)
"Draw a card from the bottom of your deck"

only one I can think of is Sawsbuck from Black and White. Does [C] +10 for each Grass Energy on each of your Pokémon. Also Trevenant EX is similar as it hits for [C][C][C] 50+ for each grass on only itself, but really I'd think Sawsbuck is what your looking for. Or I hope so.

Hope you found this helpful.

Xatu from Legendary Treasures does Rock/Paper/Scissors with its attack. :p

In the Unlimited Format, what are some of the best ways to accelerate Darkness Energy, ideally on an Ability/PokePower or Trainer? Similar to Bronzong(phf)/Blaziken(rs) and Dark Patch.

Besides Dark Patch itself, consider
  • Dark Dragonite (EX: Team Rocket Returns 15/109)
  • Dark Electrode (EX: Team Rocket Returns 4/109)
  • Electrode-ex (EX: FireRed/LeafGreen 107/112

Please note that there are multipe versions of those first two cards; you'll want the newer (less old =P) Dark Dragonite and Dark Electrode. They were used in a deck called Dragtrode quite heavily in their day. Electrode-ex also had some solid decks back in the day, at least if memory serves. Dark Dragonite moves [D] Energy around the field, like the Hydreigon still legal for Expanded play. Odds are you would be better off with that Hydreigon, but just in case I included it. Dark Electrode attaches to itself, from the deck, via its Poké-Power, which is why you might want a Pokémon to move the Energy away from it. Electrode-ex may be the best bet, though it is costly: you'll give up two Energy but attach up to five Energy cards (Basic or Special) from your discard pile to any of your in play Pokémon which are not Pokémon-ex (remember, Pokémon-EX are considered something different). This can lead to viscious control deck tactics, where you blow up two then hit your opponent with Rocket's Admin. or N, forcing your opponent's hand down to just two cards, which several other Unlimited Format options can shrink down to zero.
