Unless it has the Imposter ability, or if you're using it to breed for eggs with good IVs, Ditto has very little use at all.I have probably a dumb question to you guys but what is Ditto's deal? How do you use him? I don't see it.

I can still trade/battle via GTS/Random Match-Up, however, and rarely have any communication errors. Does anyone know why and exactly how this could be resolved?

Rusty Sticks said:Sounds like good ol' Error 86420. I got it too, don't worry. To fix it, I turned off my router's firewall. Try that.

I have the same problem with HeartGold. I'm still able to use the GTS, but can't connect via Friend Code.

Since you say you can connect to the GTS, chances are it's an error on your friend's part. Check with him/her to see if they can connect to the GTS.

I've actually been having that problem. I've tried following recommended steps, but for some reason it won't connect.
How exactly would you fix it?

Nekoban Ryo said:It is indeed Error 86420. I highly doubt it is my friends, since multiple people who usually don't have that problem can't connect with me.
Rusty Sticks said:Okay, I'm going with the assumption that you've tried everything from Nintendo's website (port forwarding, firewall editing, etc.). Let's work from there.
If none of this works, god help you.
- Go to your Wi-Fi settings on your DS.
- Change the IP to a static IP
- Put 8.8.8.8 as your primary DNS and 8.8.4.4 as your secondary
- Test connection (should work)
- On your router, find and enable DMZ
- Put in the IP you entered on your DS
- Check connection with friend
It varies from router to router. I believe you'll need to set up an IP for it in your router settings, but even that process varies with the router. I recommend using your favorite search engine to find out how to set up a static IP for your specific router's model number (usually on the side). Then again, he may have just meant to switch the DNS settings from auto-obtain to manual (since this can be done without setting a manual IP). I have experience with several router settings remotely similar to what this sounds like, but I have never had a problem quite like this, so I'm afraid I can't be of more specific help.Nekoban Ryo said:Rusty Sticks said:Okay, I'm going with the assumption that you've tried everything from Nintendo's website (port forwarding, firewall editing, etc.). What does the static IP have to be? I tried to set it for an IP address that showed up on the router when I tried to connect, but it said that the IP was incorrect.
