BW/BW2 The Simple 5th Gen VG Questions and Answers Thread

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

It was on the left side of the screen above the fastest scoop XD. I can't figure it out as it has happened 2 times now but it does not happen often though.:)

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

Could be just a mouse bug when in the Dream World. The interaction in DW is kinda wonky so that might explain it - something that isn't supposed to happen, yet it does anyway.

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

That is kind of what I figured too. I think it is just a random glitch myself XD.:)

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

There's maintenance scheduled for June 9th or so, so it's assumed that it will at least stay if not be upgraded.

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

A maintenance is going on right now when i checked. hmmmm....

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

nyone know why our friend lists don't work on the PGL? Everytime I try to access the 2nd page or pending requests it says invalid access and that is all it does. Also does anyone know why Ice Beam only has 10 shots VS moves that have 15 shots like Flamethrower and Thunderbolt etc. It gives off the freeze special condition but why only 10 shots? It is basically an ICE type Flamethrower so why not 15 shots for this move? I thought they would have this fixed in B/W but I guess not. Hope it is fixed in B/W 2 XD.:)

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

About Pal Pads: I dunno. Something to address in future, I suppose.
About Ice Beam: Freeze is the strongest status condition, hence Ice Beam's lower PP. Ever wonder why freeze chance is never more than 10%?

And B/W fixed a lot of moves' BP/PP, so if they needed it changed, it would've happened already.

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

Ice does freeze your opponent but poisoning and burns do a lot more damage than freeze XD. Freeze actually does no extra damage. All it does is stop your opponent from doing anything for a few turns. I just think 10 PP is way to low for ICe Beam. Answer me this then Why does Ice Fang have 15/PP an a 95% accuracy and it causes freeze and Flinching both. Why does Ice Punch have 15 PP and cause freeze? The point is that it does not make sense for Ice Beam to only have 100 PP. Come to think of it now. It should have been changed in 4th gen but seriously now is the time to upgrade Ice Beam now that we are fighting against a lot stronger Pokemon now XD.:)

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

And we care about status damage why? Sleep and freeze are by far the strongest status ailments, because they effectively make your opponent miss a turn. With poison/burn the afflicted may still attack.
As for Ice Fang? 65BP/15PP is still fair, given the small side effect chance. Remember, Ice Beam has 95BP, thus it has less PP than Fang or Punch.

Despite what you may think, the game is still quite balanced. You just need to pay attention.

Imagine if Drain Punch was still 60 but got 10PP... Hitmontop with Techinician REJOICE!

On the topic of Ice Beam, 15PP would be good since Freeze lasts either 0 turns, 3 turns, or 7 turns (the numbers might be a little off, might be 5 and not 7) and 10% isn't common enough. I think freeze should be a lot more common, but have a different effect. Maybe like Burn but on the special side? That might be better as a whole new status.

In 5th gen the Pokemon are more advanced so I use status moves in 5th gen. Only for that reason. They are so far advanced now that Ice Beam should have been 15PP as for Flamethrower that has 95BP also but it has the chance of a burn and Toxic us by far one of the strongest moves out there. Within just a few turns it can do some deadly damage. So you are saying Paralysis would be the 3rd strongest since it makes you miss turns on occasion. I just don't get why Ice Beam only has 10 PP after all this time for the BP and freeze. That is all I am saying XD.:)

You're scaring me, man.

Exactly!
Plus it halves the afflicted Pokemon's Speed.

I think you see where I'm going - making your opponent miss turns and other miscellaneous side effects is much more devastating than just racked-up damage. That is why, even though it remains on switch-out, Poison remains as one of the weaker status ailment (even though Toxic and Toxic Spikes exist), because it has no other effect beyond dealing damage. Burn halves Attack, Paralysis halves Speed, and Sleep and Freeze just make you completely incapable of action until you break out of them.

Even Taunt can be stronger than several status ailments, because it could effectively make a Pokemon nearly useless, forcing it to switch out and waste a move. (Taunt's a move that requires a lot of skill to use, but when well-timed the effects can be devastating.)

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

Oh ok. Awesome XD. But still Toxic rules in 5th gen. I never used much status moves unless it was a physical move until B/W XD. I refuse to use them in 4th gen XD.:)

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

Regarding the mouse cursor glitch, yeah, I've seen it happen a few times. It screws me up on the Pelipper one the most. The Dream World takes up a lot of CPU for some reason. As a result, the computer will struggle to interpret sudden mouse movements, for instance.

Probably just your computer, it works fine on mine. Never had any problems with DW

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

I've noticed that on Random Matchups, I've seen Shiny Ninetails from Dream Balls with Drought, and a Shiny Charizard in a Poké Ball is a normal varaiant with Solar Power. Are they legal?

You cannot get Shiny Pokemon from the Dream World. While you can breed them, it is impossible for the Ninetails to have been caught in a Dream Ball, and the DW Charizard was only given out in Japan and Korea. It could only be caught in the Entralink (not shiny), and it was always male. Males cannot pass down their Dream World abilities.

How fast is your computer? Mine is 2 gigahertz.

RE: The B/W Questions and Answers Thread

I recently got a level 100 shiny Giratina for a regular Dragonair through GTS negotiations, but the problem is I am afraid that it is probably hacked and stuff because it says it is from Johto and it is caught in a master ball, and the Dragonair of coarse. I thought the only way to get Giratina in Johto is in an egg and the master ball!?!?!? And I don't know if this belongs on this thread or not, but it is on my black version so I guess it is a black/white problem.
