Me, hipoke, Bippa, and Tking were playing, and we didn't have lag too bad (for a 4 player match) until the very end when it like stopped and d/c us hahah.

I used Toon Link and Olimar, He used Meta Knight and Pit. :O

I beat Rock Wrecker 2-1. I used Toon Link the first match and Falco the next 2. Rock Wrecker used Marth every match.

I was going to use Toon Link the third match, but I pressed the start button accidentally.

Wow, we've got half of the matches done in 2 days. Thanks for being on the ball everyone.

I'd also like to say at this time that there are prizes for the winner, but I won't disclose any information about them until the tournament is over.

Me and Chillarmy just finished our matches. I was Meta Knight and Wolf, and he was Toon Link and Ness.

I VM'd my opponent. Also, i've been trying to find some local brawl tournies, as I heard you can earn money from them. How do you?

Well, Brawl Tournaments have entry fees, as the organizer requires money to pay for the venue. After the venue costs have been payed for, the winner received a percentage of the entry fee (sometimes all of it). Second place gets half of what the winner got (ie, Winner got $300, Second place gets $150). Third and Fourth receive half of what second got (ie, if Second got $150, Third and fourth would each get $75).

Oh, Bippa, you've been to brawl tournaments, how much do you usually win? Also, i've been practicing like crazy with Ike, and I think I fixed the lag problem with my Wii remote and the grabs. I should really use a GC controller though. As those are alot better (although i'm already rather good with Wii remote).

The amount varies depending on the number of entrants. If there's only like 8 people who showed up, you might make about $25 if you win. But if you get a lot, like 128 (which does happen), you can easily come home with hundreds. It also depends on how much the TO is charging as the entrance fee, as that's where the victory money comes from. So there are a lot of variables when it comes to victory money, which is why I can't give you a definite amount. I highly suggest that you encourage your friends to come, because they'll put more money in the pot, and provide easier competition if they aren't good.

I HIGHLY recommend getting a GC controller. It is so incredibly useful, and there are some advanced techniques (some of which are crucial for certain characters) that can only be performed on a GC controller. Also, when there lots of Wii remotes in the room, messed up connections can happen, and they can really mess you up (costing you the game, and you chance at the money). TO are not obliged to provide batteries either, so if your remote dies, your time in the tournament goes with it. So yes, a GC controller is a FANTASTIC investment for anyone serious about competitive Smash Bros. Its one of those times when a corded controller is good.

I'll try to find a GC controller, but i'm not sure i'll have much luck. I've also been trying out new characters, but i'm not exactly sure to try out.

Try looking at Gamestop for a used one. Might cost about $10.

As for a new character, who are the characters that Ike struggles with? Your other characters should be characters that counter Ike's bad matchups. Its like a Core in VG.

Well I guess that means i'll start practicing more with Ice Climbers. As they cover Ikes biggest problems.

I actually wouldn't suggest using Ice Climbers as a secondary, because they have one of the highest learning curves out of everyone in the game. They can be extremely good characters if you know how to use them, but it can easily take a few months to even scratch everything the Ice Climbers are capable of.

Instead, I would suggest Pikachu as a secondary. Ike's big problems are Meta Knight, King Dedede and Falco, all of which Pikachu goes even with (Meta Knight) or outright beats (Falco and Dedede). If you want, I can show you the fundamentals of how to play Pikachu on Monday, or you could ask jirachinick who is a Pikachu main.

I know how to play Pikachu rather decently, but I will practice with it a bit. I also do know the Ice Climbers pretty good too, as I have been playing with them for the past few days.
