I only noticed the red eye while I reread the news in the front page. It has the right eye red and the left blue. The pokemon from Y only shows a blue right eye. It makes me believe that the other eye is red and both have some sort of connection.

...what?

The deer's eyes are both blue. As are the bird's.

actually, they're not. if you pause it at the right times, and on the max HD, you can see both eyes.

oh, also, lemme take a shot at the names...
X: Alxesure (alces alces (moose scientific name), X, excalibur, azure)
Y: Falceroy (falcon, cancer, rojo (SP red), Y)

i know what you might be thinking... "Why go with a moose for X?"
and if you read the wiki thing, "Why a falcon for Y?"
I noticed that the antlers all spread out on X from one thick spot, and if you connect the antlers, it looks more like a moose.
I chose a falcon for Y because, to me, falcons seem more dark and deadly in appearance than some eagles.

Perhaps they do represent DNA, which would lead me to assume life. Because of that, I would like back up the life and death theory, as they're designs tend to fit that role. X being life and Y being death. If it is indeed genetics, I don't think the third must be made by nature. It could be something that was created by humans, though I hope it is not a fusion.

On the thought of the X and Y axis, I'd like to point out that in the trailer, Y is diving down the air while X is looking up into the sky. I dunno if that means anything, but it's an interesting detail when you think about the 2 representing the X and Y axis. Also note that the game is being release internationally. So much earthly stuff here.

I don't know the Norse mythology, but if the trio (if it even is a trio) does follow that trend, then I'm going to assume that it's mostly for design ideas.

kids are gonna have nightmares. Rooting for pokemon X! The y bird looks like shadow lugia.

Those names sound great to me and they sound like real Pokemon names, unlike most fan speculated names.

RE: The Two Legendary Pokemon

The legendary names are out:
Xerneas is the elk and Yveltal is the bird.
I actually like these names. Makes a nice change from ones we've had previously.

edit: Ninja'd by AtmosphericThunder to them.

I rushed to screenshot the picture, save it to Photobucket, and post it here.

I was just lucky to have seen the Facebook post soon enough!

I saw it on a Pokemon fanpage on Facebook and rushed to share the information, but you just beat me to it ;]

It was a battle fought strongly on both sides!

RE: The Two Legendary Pokemon

The names sound awesome, especially Yveltal. They both sounds so fantasy like! <3 Xerneas sounds awesome too. <3

RE: The Two Legendary Pokemon

I wonder if there are any clues to what they're based on in their names...

RE: The Two Legendary Pokemon

Xerneas sounds similar to the word for deer in my native language LOL

I doubt that's intended though.

RE: The Two Legendary Pokemon

look at the names backwards...
Xerneas = Saenrex
Yveltal = Latlevy

Xerneas' makes me think of sacred, enigma, and rex (as in king)... like a sacred mysterious king
Yveltal's makes me think of latitude or large, terror, leviathan, and vile... basically, a giant evil thing that may have to do with going north and south all the time (like birds migrating)

then again, they are legendaries and likely have the same name worldwide, like most legendaries... so i think mitja might be on to something

If they don't release official artwork for these two soon I'm gonna scream.

I expect we'll see them soon in CoroCoro or on the official website.
But I am with you, I really want to see their artwork and know their typings.

RE: The Two Legendary Pokemon

If it's anything like B/W we'll have to wait for Shokotan to "accidentally" post the news on her blog. :p

RE: The Two Legendary Pokemon

trust me, i have the feeling they will show us their official art while they show off some new pokemon. btw, i actually placed a bet to see whether or not they show any fighting or dark types. why i chose those types, idk. but, if i get it right, i get an arceus event palkia for dark, and dialga for fighting. if i get both right, i get giratina with it. (my friend happens to have 2 copies of hg and ss)

maaaaaaaaaaan i hope i win, coz i dont wanna get rid of my shiny lickilicky

RE: The Two Legendary Pokemon

I think it's from the Norse mythology as some stated. Yggdrasil is pronounced the same as Yveltal, I think.

RE: The Two Legendary Pokemon

Something I've found odd about this is that they haven't given any details of the region the games take place in. Yes we know it's based on Europe/France, but it doesn't even have a name yet.
