Anyone ever sold stuff at worlds? I hear it's not allowed. Are they really strict about it?

Inside the Event room I don't think you can, but in the other room that players gather just for playtesting, etc. many people are selling their stuff. So I guess it's ok as long as you don't do it where the event is situated.

If you walk off of the venue's property to finalize the sale, there's not much they can do. I think selling is prohibited because of the worlds store there though.

It isnt allowed to sell stuff.
However people are doing it everywhere even in the main ballroom.

I think the selling issue is one of those things where its "You're 'not allowed to sell stuff'" compared to, "you aren't allowed to sell stuff."

They say it's not allowed but the rule is not enforced. In 2010, there were people who had whole (small) displays set up. Perhaps that's why they don't allow it, or maybe it was never allowed.

I don't see the difference, lol. You're not allowed to in any tournament venues. (I guess it's just depending on the TO for smaller tournaments) I know for a fact you aren't allowed to sell at Nats or Worlds. At Nats this guy asked if he could sell and the organizers said he could as long as it was outside the convention center.

Ah. The people i was talking about were in the open gaming room. Maybe you just can't sell in the main area.

then again the center is so big maybe you just can't sell.

The only reason people sell in Open Gaming is because all of the judges/organizers are too busy getting ready for the tournament. The whole weekend I never saw a TPCi worker or judge in there.

What do you think of this, which I found in the Worlds competitor's packet?

"Approved Retail
There will be Pokémon products and accessories available for purchase from an official vendor on-site. No other on-site sales are permitted without prior permission from The Pokémon Company International. Attendees caught selling items without prior permission from The Pokémon Company International may be escorted from the area, and will not be permitted to re-enter for the duration of the Pokémon World Championships. Additional penalties including but not limited to suspension from the PLAY! Pokémon program may also result from such behavior."

What do you think they mean by "prior permission"?

I think that many people will still sell, just not in the grand ballroom.

Eh, I sent them an email at the address that was in the document just to be sure. They would not have said "without prior approval from TPCi" for nothing...

Hopefully the playmat looks like the 2010 one. Last year's was really ugly IMO. And does the site look mediocre to anyone else? It doesn't look as neat as the 2010 or 2011 site.

EDIT: It didn't load correctly the first time so it looked bad. Now that it loaded it looks cool. This better be the playmat.
