Can 1 person answer me this then if 'everyone' knows that tyram is better then how come Reshiboar won worlds??

Well the reshiboar did have a magnezone line with it and rayquaza deoxyx legend, so it would make sense to put emboar instead of typhlosion in this deck.

The majority of the decks in Top Cut for Masters were Reshiram/Typhlosion as well. Two of them made T4, which I think is an accomplishment for the deck.

1 Reshiboar made Top 16
7+ TyRam made Top 16

TyRam is more consistant, and has all around better matchups. Reshiboar wastes a lot of space that TyRam doesn't for energy recovery, giving TyRam tech space and more consistancy cards.

TyRam also won wolrds for Senior and second in Junior.

Typhlosion is overall the better deck, but for worlds, Emboar was the better option only because it had a good matchup against Typhlosion.

This. Besides, David's deck wasn't exactly Reshiram-Emboar, as Magnezone and RDL were huge parts of it.

From the very start, it seemed clear to me that Typhlosion was clearly better, and the only time Emboar is better is when the two face each other (because of the ability to OHKO Reshirams after an afterburn, among other things. Typhlosion is FAR more consistent.

I'm sorry I didn't read all six pages, but on the first page it said emboar could abuse rdl while typhlosion couldn't. I feel like typhlosion would be better because iirc, for rdls attack you discard all fire rnergy right? Just put them back on with typhlosion. I agree 20 damage is enough to make rdl last one leless turn in some cases but getting two prizes for one knock out is pretty formidable

Well, since RDL gives 2 prizes away and has a huge attack cost, if you drop it down the opponent can catcher/reversal it up for 2 prizes. Therefore, you rarely want to drop RDL down unless you can charge it up and take the last 2 prizes that turn, and in order for a Reshiphlosion deck to charge up RDL in 1 turn you'd need 3 Typhlosion out, which never happens. With Emboar, you can Fisherman 4 energy back, slap down RDL, Fandango 3 fire onto it and manually attach a lightning them bam you've got the last two prizes.

^this

RDL does have revenge killers out there, so it's often not a huge advantage to play it when it'll give 2 prizes right back. RDL is one major advantage Emboar has, but Typhlosion is a better option for other reasons.

Be careful what you say. Late game versions of Reshiplosion are known to be only focusing on Typhlosion in the deck, certainly making it not impossible.

However you are correct in that it is harder to abuse RDL. There's not as much space for that kind of thing in a Reshiplosion, allowing Emboar varients to take the maximum advantage.

I thought there was more space in TyRam? Just because of all the recovery needed in Emboar variants and such.

If you have a Supporter based build, you don't have enough room to run another side attacker and Electric Energy. You're just talking about not as much room to work with that.

TyRam doesn't necessarily require a Supporter-based build.Lots of lists don't run any hand refresh besides Cleffa, and only really need Collector and maybe Engineer's Adjustments.

Most of the best lists that I've seen so far post-Emerging Powers have cut Ninetales or put so low importance in it that it's a 1-1 line and have therefore opted for Supporter draw instead with not a lot of room to work with tech wise. The times, they are a-changing lol.

I'm just not seeing how they can have the space to pull off a tech that requires a lot to get working. When you think about it, the deck doesn't _need_ RDL. You Blue Flare for six turns and win just fine.

I think this depends on your personal preference, i use reshiboar because i just like raining down a bunch of energies at a time, but as i said i think its personal preference.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this discussion. Feel free to keep it coming, but it's given me a lot of knowledge regarding the topic. It's also nice to get some good TCG discussion going. Thanks. :D

(you guys can keep talking :p)
