Unusual Card Play in the TCG

Have you ever used a TCG card for an odd play other than what you'd normally use it for?

For an example, I use emolga mainly for call for family, but occassionaly the damage attack comes into play. I've used it to donk Swablus, set up KOs with stronger pokes, or finish something off that was already damaged. 20 for one isn't as good as it used to be, but it's not bad either, especially on a basic.

There's also been times when eelektriks attack has won me games. With Bouffalant and Zekrom hitting EXs for 120, that extra 50 is just enough to just enough to finish off mewtwo, rayquaza, and keldeo.

I almost decked out an opponent by stalling with Raikous thunder fang attack. Opponent had two fully loaded mewtwos out and only needed one prize. I managed to flip heads for a few turns, bringing him down to just one card... but then I flipped tails and lost next turn.

RE: Unorthodox uses of cards

I had Zekrom poke a Rayquaza EX with Bolt Strike, then when Zekrom got KO'd I had an Eelektrik knock it out.
120+50=170
magic number~

Using Sableye's Confuse Ray attack.

From last format sometimes I used Durant's second attack to force opponents to drop a second Pokemon.

Oh. And at one point I used Mew EX's (why don't people use him? He's baws) Replace attack. I was in a tough situation.

RE: Unorthodox uses of cards

I don't know if it is unorthodox, but I once KOed a Giratina-EX with a Tool Scrapper. :)

RE: Unorthodox uses of cards

Was it caped?

I like using Sableye's Confuse Ray. I can't believe people don't do Dark Claw Sableye, 30 for 1+Confusion is wicked!!

Oh yeah.
T4 at Cities in 2011.
Vs. CaKE
He nearly Kos all of my Durants with Kyurem.

RogueChomp gives BlackBelt to Durant!
Durant used Vice Grip!
Critical hit!
Kyurem fainted.

30 for 1 still isn't bad, though.

Yes, it is. Especially when you need a tool card to pull it off. Landorus does the same thing, just better.

RE: Unorthodox uses of cards

I suppose so, I just thought it was neat idea :p

RE: Unorthodox uses of cards

In the past.... attaching a Rainbow Energy to my own Dunsparce so that it would get KO'd and I could win the game. Present, I would have to say my Tynamo Spark taking 3 prizes at once during Regionals. lol

That reminds of the time I had an opportunity to kill a Bouffalant with skyarrow bridge. That's the major downside to cards that increase HP, you can be killed by trainers.

RE: Unorthodox uses of cards

I attacked with Tynamo before it was cool.

I donked a Swablu with Tynamo's Thunder Wave and a PlusPower.

EDIT: Sometimes I squish bugs with crappy Commons when I can't get to/find a paper towel.

RE: Unorthodox uses of cards

I started swablu once, went first, and put a Mewtwo to sleep. They didn't wake up, though he still attatched a DCE. :p
I won because he was asleep for like 4 turns. :D

RE: Unorthodox uses of cards

I once used some old commons as firewood for my autumn bondfire.

A friend of mine once used a themedeck when the hotel bathroom ran out of toilet paper. (True Story)

And I also like to throw in random exs into my deck to throw people off.

RE: Unorthodox uses of cards

One time I donked this kid with a Smeargle Heres the story: Ok I start Smeargle my opponent has a 50 hp Cherubi. I go 1st attach a Dce to Smeargle play Pluspower. I get double heads for the donk. My opponent looked very frustrated lawl.

RE: Unorthodox uses of cards

Back when ZPST was good I often donked my opponent doing 50 with Pachirisu. :p
