US Nationals 2012

In Canada Andrew Estrada won Nationals in seniors with CMT with Terrakion

P.S. that makes him a two time defending champ

Masters - Curtis won (I think that was who it was) with Quad Entei with no Junk Arm

Whaaaaaaaat? A guy with no Catcher, a guy with no Junk Arm, a guy with only 4 supporters, all doing really good... Really makes you think about deckbuilding.

Wow... How... O_O
I almost refuse to believe that there was no junk arm in that deck...

The Junk Arm guy could just be good at resource management.

... or you guys are mishearing what the Junk Arm guy is saying. Maybe he means he never had to use Junk Arm in his games.

^No afaik.

Pfft. No way. Junk Arm is always useful. He was probably trying to make a statement.

Did they announce where 2013 US Nationals will be held at, by chance?

lol? The 2012 one just ended. If it's anything like last year we should know the date + location in late September.

We keep seeing these cool decklists and every time i see something like that i try to figure out the philosophy behind it.
4 Supporters: As long as you get the resources you need by other means, such as Victory Medal, Dual Ball, Energy Search, etc., you don't need supporters. The deck is CMT because it's fast enough to get the edge on Vileplume.

No Junk Arm: Four spots can be a lot and you sometimes have to discard valuable cards. Instead of Junk Arm, you can put in one-ofs or cards like the aforementioned Victory Medal. These cards may keep the opponent guessing, have them preparing for something that will not happen, and leave them very surprised. I think when the guy said he played no Junk Arms, people said, "WHAT? This has to be a fluke!" just like a lot of you and he was able to use the surprise factor to his advantage.

The guy who played only 4 Supporters had a huge reliance on Smeargle, and he chose to only run 4 of his own to make his opponent's Smeargle have no affect and slow them down. It was a great meta call considering almost every deck in the format has a big reliance on Smeargle. Victory Medal is bad. Nobody played it/should have played it, it's too inconsistent to be good. You also don't really surprise someone by not playing a card, not playing something adds no surprise factor and unlike with a pokemon the opponent wouldn't do anything different in their strategy if they thought you played it.

I'm pretty sure he played klingklang???

The person who played 4 supporters played CMT, the person with no Junk Arm played Entei/Techs, the person with no Catcher played ZekEels (I think).

(pauses to comprehend)
Alright then..

No-catcher Zekeels is a very odd deck. If i were to try and explain it i'd just get fired at again so i'm not going to bother. Is it crazier to play no junk arm or no catcher?

He didn't plan on playing no Catcher, he made a mistake on his decklist and was forced to replace them with energy.
