US President Barack Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize

No, he didn't deserve it. I haven't seen anyone say this, so I'll tell you a little piece of information. Obama was only in office for 11 DAYS before the nomination deadline. What has he done so far? Let alone the first 11 days?!? I think it's just people obsessing over him. I quite enjoyed the SNL sketch with Obama's "chacklist". I'll try to find it for you. Basically, it was 'Obama' with a checklist of the things he's promised to do, but hasn't done yet. Many people were upset. (Yeah, but they were on Bush the day he was in office).
Also, the reason he got the prize was for strengthening the US's relations with other countries. Which he has done, but I think maybe he should have given him something at the end of his presidency, if the people still thought of him so highly.

he hasnt really done anything to warrant the award for him.

he has taken steps, or rather, written down promises, but nothing has really been accomplished.

nothing is different from when bush was in charge, yet everyone in the nation and the world is clamoring over obama.

he promised change, its been 9 months....where is it.

You guys don't really understand the predicament Bush left him do you? If you had an inkling then fine you can make judgement but he has basically been told to fix the United States. I don't think its possible in 20 years never mind 1 year

Oh, yeah, nothing at all like the predicament Clinton left Bush. In addition, I realize Bush made mistakes, and I have an inkling of what he did, but I think my judgment on the matter is fine considering the last 3 Presidents (including the current one) have not done anything to necessarily help the country. Bush, however, while he was not able to come to terms domestically, in the foreign area, he bought us 8 years. He took us through the beginning of the War on Terror and in addition, was able to keep it going in their own country instead of bringing it to ours.

Once again, I disagree with this, but who knows. Maybe this will be a sign that things are starting to either get worse or better.

You are stupid, sir.

And you are a very unsuccessful troll, sir.

I'm quite excited for your next witty reply.

I don't know in what way you misinterpreted my last post, but I'm not endorsing any president. I'm not saying Bush was better than Obama, because obviously, we can't tell. The man has been in office for less than a year. Of course he has a very tough job, but that doesn't mean that we should just give him a prize like that. He is a good candidate, but maybe not this year. It could have waited to see what else he does with the job.

noob sandwich' response is a typical one of a person who really detests bush and everything he has done. prob one of the ones that goes to the rallies and bashes on any person who is military related. just sayin

I agree whole heartedly with Gale here, we shouldn't be flaming each other, but we need to look past Bush and see the previous presidents as well. Bush wasn't Satan guys, regardless of what you think. Yeah he made a large amount of mistakes that the press jumped on, but he was not a terrible president. Yes, Obama has a lot on his plate, but that does not constitute infallibility or the deserving of a Nobel Peace Prize.

Obama is worse than Bush? Srsly?

...
Obama has not broken any promises yet. He has done some things to help the economy, and nothing he has done has hindered the economy.

Bush, on the other hand, got us into the Vietnam war. He left Obama an almost unrepairable economy. He did plenty to hinder the economy, and not much to help.

Compare the two.

Really, then I guess the fact that had said he'd lower our taxes, then didn't, said he'd pull our troops out of Iraq, but didn't was something I thought up D:. But he did tell us one truth - he changed a lot of things ;/

It wasn't all Bush's fault the economy went downhill. Democrats will naturally blame Bush although it was not necessarily ALL his fault.

I'm not even going to begin to delve into the economic situation Obama is putting us in... it's also almost like he's asking other countries to bomb us :/

i wonder if people know (yes you commenters here) that when clinton left, he left bush in the same predicament that bush left obama....

Obama's involvement in the Iran nuclear issue is what has won him (and rightfully so) the award. The idea of the Nobel Peace Prize is that the person who's done the most to promote peace between other countries during the current year be awarded. It's a short-term award by nature. It has nothing to do with the current state of the US economy. It has nothing to do with a president fulfilling campaign promises.

Others are so quick to judge but straightening out a wrecked economy and reforming a broken health care system takes time and think tanks and lots of like-minded people who care about our country and not their own twisted agenda. These are all needed to make real progress. We finally have something like that after so long and I think the president deserves recognition for that on its own. But once again, issues such as these have nothing to do with the Nobel Peace Prize and are just my opinions. =D

Sounds pretty cool, I think he diserves it, he is trying hard to make the nation strong.

There is only do, or do not. There is no try.

Yes, and I'm trying to make a lightbulb that runs on air. I want that prize!

You do know the deadline for nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize was only 11 days after he took office. It was way too early to see how his involvement in the Iran nuclear issue would work out. Maybe he would deserve it next year but not this year.

Um are you kidding me?!

*in case you havent noticed, the war thats going on, is against the wrong country, Iraq didnt blow up the Twin Towers! Whos fault was that, I wonder, oh! right BUSH!
*who broke at least six promises to make this country better?
BUSH

now,I could o on forever, but really?
I just think that maybe your over-reacting with that comment, beecause BUSH WAS BAD, Im sorry, but thats the truth in my eyes.
My mom wrote her dissertation on Iraqui women going to college, and how hard it was, and mainly its hard, because of us, because of BUSH.

Personally, I think Barack Obama should win the Nobel Prize just for following Bush's shadow.
