Pokemon Weird Pokémon Sprites and Colours

The Pokédex would disagree with you on that. Kabuto's Yellow Version dex entry reads; A Pokémon that was recovered from a fossil. It uses the eyes on its back while hiding on the sea floor.

And its Crystal Version dex entry reads; Three hundred million years ago, it hid on the sea floor. It also has eyes on its back that glow.

Not only do these tell us that the eyes on top of its shell are real, but Crystal also strongly implies that those aren't its only eyes, meaning that the red ones we usually see are real as well.
The eyes aren't real. They glow, yes, but this is to scare of predators. This is also how they are used when Kabuto is on the sea floor. They do not help Kabuto to see in any way.

If they aren't real eyes, then why does the Pokédex refer to them as eyes, as opposed to eye-like spots or something? I still believe they're actual eyes that Kabuto uses to see its surroundings even when it's hiding on the seafloor.

In light (pun intended) of Missingno. Master's info I have to change my stance and agree with him! Glad to know more about it because I've always loved Omanyte and never paid any attention to Kabuto!

Kabuto's always been my favorite of the two, personally. And thanks for agreeing with me! :)

Getting back to Sneasel's original coloration, I had actually recolored newer Sneasel and Weavile sprites, to indicate what could have been;

Once again, I really would like to see them introduce some kind of variant "retro" Sneasel somehow.

No need to thank. You used reason and a strong argument and that's how people should make a point! ;)

Nice recoloring. I like the fact that it is more accordingly to it's Ice type but "hides" the Dark type which is very cool.

I'm guessing they originally wanted it to look more like just a gas cloud with a face. If you ask me, it's kinda interesting to think about how its more modern sprites and 3D models would look if they kept that look for it. Same with a lot of Generation I's sprites, actually.

It's weird, though- Gastly is pretty much made entirely of poison gas, and yet it can't learn Poison Gas. Never understood that one.

The 5 fingers are there, just less visible!

Oh, I didn't notice. It does have four fingers in the first two generations, though.

- Why is Hippopotas lying down in Platinum?

205.png
It's Forretress's Gen 2 backsprite.

- The Pokédex says Ivysaur can't stand on two legs. Guess what it does in Red and Blue?
002.png
- The Pokédex also says Shedinja doesn't move. Yeah, right.
292.gif <----- Totally not moving.

- Although it isn't currently available in-game, this is Mega Heracross's sprite from Pokémon Shuffle. It looks stupid.

Because I love Pichu so much:

- Pichu's cheeks were initially red, but became pinker over time.

What Raikou Originally Looked like:

Yes, this is a Pokémon sprite.

It's Raikou's gen 2 Backsprite.

This may be the worst animation of any gen 5 sprite.

- Don't have a picture, but Jumpluff's Shadow in Colosseum had the Pom-poms as squares.

There's quite a few sprites in Platinum [maybe all of them in the regional dex] that the sprites are just the second frame of animation of the DP ones. This didn't turn out so well for a few of them:

In Green and Red/Blue, they tried Drawing Vileplume from a forwards perspective. The result was the flower being oddly disconnected from the rest of its body.

there's a similar effect in Emerald:
