>Finally gets to be a werewolf
>Happens to be in the game where the GMs really wanted a town win

lol

It was fun, thanks DNA and Chillarmy for the great hosting.

See you in the next one!

Pfft, without mine and TDL's role, this game would've been to the wolves.

because that's just how sad this town is

srly, I found 2 wolves, an indie, and almost found teal the night I died.

The Postman
Alignment: Dusty Gulch

You are the postman, traversing the land every day to bring people their mail! With Dusty Gulch being out in the middle of nowhere, a reliable person is needed to deliver people the letters they've been expecting - and you are that individual.

Ability : Neither Rain nor Snow nor Sleet nor Hail
Use : Always on.
You cannot be affected by any night roles targeting you on even-numbered nights. (This doesn't include roles that just pick a person's name for an effect.)

Win condition: All threats to Dusty Gulch removed

^^This is My Role.^^

"2. Infinity - The Drug Dealer - Lunched Day 6."

Lunched? Yum.

2 wolves and an indie over here too >:[

I had to wait 3 days ;[.

If ESP would have played from the beginning I wouldn't have gotten him. I only got him because of 9Tailz.

Town wasn't that op.

TDL: Invincible Sheriff Mason
ShadowLugia: One protector...
Eevee: ... Second protector.
TheGuy: Fifty-fifty shot of living after being killed
DNS: Fifty-fifty shot of living, then killing his attacker after being targeted.
Safariblade: Healer.
PMJ: Revenge-killer.
Bippa: Kill one person per game.
Nengeni (Ha, I spelled it right!): If targeted by more than one person, he has to kill one.
One-Approved: Can skip nights twice per game. TWICE.

DNA wanted the town's victory so bad...

Glace: Yes, I believed it, because anything else would be broken and the town was known to be so overpowered anyway. I did not, however, even know half of how overpowered this town was.

This last day really made me feel like I want to puke - literally. With the revealations I realized there was absolutely nothing we could have done to win.

Prepare for whine about how unbalanced this was.

Let's look at this game:

Roles that avoid nightkill and even kill:
- DNS: A 50% chance to kill a vigilante that targets you and not affected by other roles?
- Let's not forget that PMJ, too, was almost destined to kill off a vigilante. (Which he didn't, ironically - thanks for warning us. :> )
- Even Puff could avoid kills. THREE times. If played right, an extremely powerful role. (He didn't. :p)
- Shadow Lugias protection ability was absolutely outrageous and if he had not used it so badly, I don't even... just think about it. Just think about how this screws up everything the wolves are doing. Additionally another power role as a mason... (cause that was totally necessary)
- An then there was a normal priest. Who can't die every third night. WHAT. (And if that happened, how are the wolves ever supposed to have the courage to target such a person again.)
- Heyhey, that's not it! One more role that can avoid a nightkill! AND kill the attacker! The Insomniac! Why did Nengeni EVEN get the role names when targeted? Was it really necessary? (No.)
- You thought that's it? Nope. Two nightskips that include the nightkill...

Seers:
- oyeahs's role alone gives the town loads of power points he...
- ... and the bartender seer are pretty much enough seer stuff for the town but...
- ... then there were Glace (who even drops a briefcase [and my jaw]) AND TDL AND his mason.
- Yep, a huge police force mason group with an unkillable member.

Both in one and so much more:
- The Performer could possibly use SL:s protection, Glace's super seer and all kinds of awsome stuff, giving these broken abilities an additional use...

Now let's look at the wolves (from worst to best):
- A vigilante who dies when a certain townie dies! Oh yay! And if not, leaves the vigilantes after night 6! Yay for even harder win condition! (Basically this means there were 6 wolves to begin with because the wolves can't win before night 6.)
- Ringleader was vanilla. CRUNCH! Add it to the heap!
- My and Porygon-X:s "godfather" abilities were totally useless. Only Cinesra would have seen us as town. CRUNCH! Add it to the heap!
- The Thug is garbage. CRUNCH! Add it to the heap!
- King Piplup's abilities were ok, but they should have been instant and unavoidable (I mean, look at that town...) Wait! I forgot about safariblade! Well CRUNCH!
- Signpost is ok!
- Only my tracking role was actually good. (Balanced in a normal game.)

If I have to say something good about this game: I liked the theme and the role introductions. lol

To add to this, King Piplup, one of our only hopes, is negated instantly by Safariblade.

But, I'm not really complaining, I mean the game was really well run. I just wish we had a shot. :p

Sorry guys, I didn't post the last day because I was doing my "I told you so; Teal's a wolf" dance in advance.

Sigh.

That was...unbalanced.

TDL's role was wrong in so many ways I can't begin to count them.

Teal just about nailed it in his post though.

I will TRY to convince myself to try WW here again, but as of now, it'll take some convincing-Not to mention the 4 other games I'm in now.

Anyway, 'Gratz to the town, even if we had no chance.

-KP

Don't worry, KP, games aren't usually like this; the town usually loses because we usually aren't OP and don't turbo-lynch. I still enjoyed the game, though, it was nice to see a win after the failure of last game. Plus PMJ's hosting the next game, so it should be a different experience.

seriously hl and me broke this game so badly.

I have a few problems with the game.

Town, this win is a joke. This was not a gg at all. The town had WAY too much running for them unlike previous games. I really feel so bad for the wolves due to how high the odds were against them this game. Hopefully future hosts will look over their roles more before sending them.

I would like it if hosts tried to refrain from posting too much. others might not view it as it problem, but I personally view it as distracting when a game mod talks way too much. This is espicially when their post isn't doing the usual game mod duties (ex: updating day, giving warnings, vote count, etc). It's not a huge problem and more of a pet peeve than anything else.

Other than that, this game was okay. Not amazing, but okay. Sorry, I have no major positives about this game. :|

I've been reading this game to find some points. Get this, the Drug Dealer was actually a friend of mine who goes to the same Pokemon League I go to. He told me about it (of course, I wasn't going to join anyway) and even though he lost by turbo-lynch, he still played really well and I'm proud of him.

The wolves, I feel pity for as they stood no chance due to all of the turbo lynches and Power Roles the Town had. You guys held your ground for a good amount of time and I'm proud of that.

Overall, Town had this game in the bag. Next time, a mod needs to consider Power in a role before its created. Let's hope it doesn't happen again.

P.S. I'll try to join the next one.

Just in case anybody was wondering I am the town drunk. Best role ever. Too lazy to quote, but I was forced to post with a grammar mistake in each and every post lol.

Also given how attrociously we townies failed last time, i did expect us to get the game stacked in our favor.

...but not this badly. holy hell that was extreme.

"GG" wolves

I'll post the role PM I had but here's the summary

I was the one searching for True Love (superpokemon)

Upon finding superpokemon, I got Hasten the Sunset which I can only use twice in the game and my vote counts as four votes, which is why TheGuy got bounced early during Day 9

First, before I post this, I would like to say that, if you think the town was overpowered, you are wrong. The town was a bunch of lucksacking idiots.

With that said, here's who got to play as each role (listed in order of signup), and my opinions on them:

1. The Drifter (Puff)
The Drifter
Alignment: Dusty Gulch

You're just a wandering drifter, having no formal ties to any nation or creed. You have come to like life in Dusty Gulch, though, and so you'd like to get the vigilantes out of your hair.

Ability : Skip Town
Use : Once per night; 3 times per game.
PM me when you want to use this ability. You will skip town, vanishing completely for the next 24 hours. During this time, you can't be targeted by any effects until the end of the next day (including night roles and the vigilante nightly kill), but you also cannot post (or vote) during the next day. You can't use this ability on consecutive nights or on Night 0.

Win condition: All threats to Dusty Gulch removed

I honestly believed that Puff had a really good ability. His ability was basically analogous to James' last game - vanish completely for a full 24-hour cycle, immune to all night effects but it costs your vote. Unfortunately, he died too early to get much air time out of this role, and he got killed almost right away.

2. The Drug Dealer (Infinity)
The Drug Dealer
Alignment: None

You're a drug dealer. You've been trying to stay under the radar lately, and so far it's working. News of the vigilantes entering town reaches your ears, and you figure it might be good for business. And since business is business, you don't care either way who suffers, just so long as you make money.

Ability : I Got the Good Stuff
Use : Once every night.
You can't use this ability until Night 2. When you use this ability, PM me the name of any 1 player, except yourself. That player will become one of your "customers". You may have multiple customers. Based on how long that player is a customer of yours, apply the appropriate effect during the next day (with the first day counting as day 1):
  • 1: If that player votes for you during the day, it doesn't count.
  • 2: That player cannot vote at all during the day.
  • 3: That player's posts during the day may not have more than 20 words. Voting doesn't count to this total.
  • 4: That player becomes bedridden, and cannot vote or post during the day.
  • 5: That player dies at the start of the day.

Win condition: Kill 7 people, or be the last player alive (whichever happens first)

After writing this, I realized I nerfed it way too much. I should have had the win condition to kill 5 people. Either way, he got found out about halfway through his killing spree and didn't get much farther after that. Still, I specifically wrote his role so that he'd be circumventing any abilities that blocked night kills - his role activates in the daytime. Of a few of his victims, they did get protected by the Psychic (who I'll mention later), but it wouldn't block the drugs.
I'm not sure if Infinity played the role to the best of his ability or not, but he did pick rather interesting choices to kill. He did get really unlucky, though - several of his choices to give drugs to were also targeted by other people's killing roles.

3. The Investigator (Glace)
The Investigator
Alignment: Dusty Gulch

You're a freelance investigator, working with the local police force. Your skills are unmatched, and you have many connections to find out what you need to know. You know the vigilantes blend in well, but there is no hiding place from your web of information.

Ability : Private Eye
Use : Once per night.
When you use this ability, PM me the name of any 1 player, except yourself. Three nights later, at the start of that night, you will be given a dossier on that person - specifically, that person's entire role will be quoted and given to you via PM (by me). You may not reveal this information.

Ability : Dropped My Briefcase
Use : Once per game.
If you are killed, one of your dossiers (chosen at random) will be revealed to the town.

Win Condition: All threats to Dusty Gulch removed

I'll admit, I did weight this game to be slightly favorable toward the townies...but only slightly. In the original draft of this role, the Investigator was part of the Police Force mason group, but then Chillarmy pointed out how ridiculously broken that is...and I agreed, given that the Investigator is the most powerful role in this game. It's slower than a normal seer (takes 3 nights instead of 1), but you learn everything about that person. Glace played his cards pretty well, claiming to be a limited seer and thus throwing potential threats off the scent. He got really lucky finding 9Tailz/ESP early on, letting the town get a kill on the alpha wolf that quickly.

Glace played his role, and he played it well, especially in the late-game. He, like Infinity, had a "snowball" role - the longer he was left alive, the stronger he'd become, and since he lasted all the way to the end without dying, he became one of the town's strongest assets. Oh, and as a little aside, if the game had gone one night longer, Glace would have received Teal's dossier, thus finding the last wolf. Teal was screwed either way.

4. The Deputy (Mokoko -> sillykyle)
The Deputy
Alignment: Dusty Gulch

You're the sheriff's deputy. You took this job to help the town sheriff bring law and order to this town out in the middle of nowhere. At times the job becomes too much for the sheriff to handle, and that's where you come in.

Ability : Next in Line
Use : Automatic.
If the sheriff is killed, you become the new sheriff. When that happens, your lynch vote during the day counts as 2 votes.

Ability : Night Shift
Use : Once per night.
PM me to use this ability on any given night. You will sneak around the town at night, noticing things that go on. At the start of the next day, you will be given the names of 2 random people who used a night role that night. (You will not, however, be told what their roles are.)

Ability : Police Force
Use : Always on.
You have a police force that you can communicate with at will (mason group). Their names will be given to you in a separate PM.

Win Condition: All threats to Dusty Gulch removed

I liked the idea behind Night Shift. You got to find out 2 random people using night roles that night. Mokoko (and his replacement sillykyle) did make good use of this ability and reported back to the Police Force figurehead, TDL. Granted, the odds of returning a wolf were pretty slim (and I don't think he ever did), but at least he got information to collaborate with what people would allege about night roles during the day.
Also, with the sheriff dying basically right away, he got the double vote power to kick in right away. Fortunately, no one caught on to his double-vote ability.

5. The Young Man (Riskbreakers)
The Young Man
Alignment: Dusty Gulch

You're a young man in Dusty Gulch, searching for your true love. You know that somewhere in this town is the girl for you, and when you find her, you know that it will make the wait worth it.

Ability : Searching for Love
Use : Once per night.
Your true love is someone else in this game, but you don't know who, yet. When you use this ability, PM me the name of any 1 player, except yourself. If that player is your true love, both of you will be given extra abilities via PM, at the start of the next day. (If it isn't your true love, nothing happens tonight.) You will also become a mason group at that time.

Ability : Hasten the Sunset
Use : Once per day; twice per game.
You can use this ability any time during a day. PM me to use this ability. During this day, your lynch vote counts as 4 votes. You can't use this ability on consecutive days.

Win condition: All threats to Dusty Gulch removed

omg I swear Risk got this randomly

Simple enough said, Riskbreakers gave me this exact same role in WW11. I thought it was a good role, having explained it to me after I died (I never found my true love). I wrote this role, and lololol Risk ended up getting it. In fact, he actually hadn't been paying attention to the topic, so when it was revealed in the topic that superpokemon67 was his true love, he just sent me a random name in PM - he didn't even read. I, being nice, said "No, go read the topic". He ended up using his new ability exactly once, to get Guy lynched.

6. The Lovestruck Girl (King Arceus)
The Lovestruck Girl
Alignment: Dusty Gulch

You're just a small town girl, living in a lonely world. When the vigilantes came to town, you fell instantly in love with him, and he with you. Of course, you can't tell anyone you've fallen for such a bad boy, but maybe the two of you can escape this conflict together...?

Ability : Lovers
Use : Always on.
There is a man in the town with whom you are head over heels in love with. His name will be given to you in a separate PM (mason group). You cannot share this person's name with anyone.

Ability : Heartbreak
Use : Automatic.
If your partner is lynched, the first person to vote for him will be killed by you at the start of the next day. If your partner is killed in some other fashion, you will commit suicide.

Win condition: All threats to Dusty Gulch removed
Alternate Win condition: You and your lover must survive until the end of Night 6. If you do, you will both be declared winners, and removed for the remainder of this game.

Don't stop believin' <3

In all honesty, poor Marky-doodles here got trolled, hard. Around when night 3 rolled around, Infinity used his drug-dealing ability to target Mark. Then, Bippa used his ability to kill Mark in the same night, which resulted in his partner committing suicide. Ouch.

I actually don't know if he and his lover planned to go through with fulfilling the alternate win condition, but they never got far enough in the game.

7. The Insomniac (Nengeni)
The Insomniac
Alignment: Dusty Gulch

As the role states, you're an insomniac. You have trouble going to sleep at night. Because of this nifty little feature, you occasionally hear things that go on at night. But it's also made you very paranoid...so much that you always keep a gun under your pillow.

Ability : What's that Sound?
Use : Automatic.
If any player uses a night role for the 3rd time during a game, you will be notified via PM at the start of the next day.

Ability : Nightmares!
Use : Once per night.
If you are targeted by a night role by at least 2 players during any night, I will notify you. You can PM me to use this ability; if you do, I will give you the usernames of the players that targeted you, plus the names of their roles. You must then choose and kill 1 of the players.

Win condition: All threats to Dusty Gulch removed

Nengeni, I did notify you about Glace. You just forgot.

So anyway, Nightmares is a role I decided to bring back from PMJ's game. He got exactly one use out of it - he had the choice between killing oyeah1988 or Argetlam. Wisely, he chose Argetlam, leaving oyeah1988 alive. However, at the time, oyeah1988 was being protected, so they could have salvaged someone. Then again, the town was going after Argetlam's head most of the game, so he might as well.

What's that Sound? is just a fun little aside I threw in. I would let him use that as he wished. He didn't get much use out of it though, and it definitely didn't help in finding the new alpha - hey, wolves can have side roles too, you know!

8. The Spy (Teal)
The Spy
Alignment: Vigilantes

A master of disguise, you are a spy who works for the vigilantes. You specialize in information and the acquisition thereof, and you do so in ways that no one can detect. However, lately, you've become rather dissatisfied with how things are run.

Ability : Cover your Tracks
Use : Always on.
If anyone tries to read your alignment, it will show up as "Dusty Gulch". Also, if you die, the effects of your abilities will be obscured from view (but not the names of them), except for Secret Hideout.

Ability : Tracking Device
Use : Once per night.
When you use this ability, PM me and pick 1 of the following choices:

  • Remove a tracking device from someone that you've already placed. (explained in the next option)
  • Place a tracking device on someone. To do so, PM me the name of the player you wish to track. When a tracking device is on someone, you will know where that person is going during the night (I'll give you this information via PM at the start of the next day), but it won't start working for that person until the following night. You'll know where that person is, but not necessarily what they're doing. Also, if a tracking device has been on someone for 2 nights, you will be told the name of that person's role (but no other information). You can only have 2 tracking devices active at once.

When you are killed, the tracking devices stop working.

Ability : Secret Hideout
Use : Always on.
You have free access to the Vigilante's Hideout, and can use it to communicate at will with your team.

Win condition: Vigilantes must match, or exceed, the remaining number of players

Ah, Teal. The one good wolf. It's ironic, because he complained about the Fairy Godmother role last game, and he himself got it this one. (It did come in handy, though - someone tried to read his alignment and he came up innocent.)

When I randomized the wolf team, I wasn't really optimistic - aside from Teal and Zyflair, they got mostly garbage players, but fortunately ESP replacing the silly ringleader 9Tailz did help out. The original design of Spy was different - it also allowed the Spy to defect to the town's side (a la traitorous double agent), but that would be too ridiculous, as Chillarmy pointed out to me.

Teal...played wonderfully. That's really all I can say. He got a lot of mileage out of his tracking devices and used them like a good player would. I noticed he adopted a strategy very similar to mine - i.e. being really helpful to the town as well as his own team - and I personally think it served him well; he was the last surviving vigilante.

He even was trying to help the wolves kill the seer, to prevent them from being found. Unfortunately for him, I had 4 seer-like roles in the game, but he did help to get the most important one: HypnoticLuxray. Teal, you played a very good game, and I tip my fedora to you.

9. The Texas Ranger (TDL)
The Texas Ranger
Alignment: Dusty Gulch

You are one of the legendary Texas Rangers. You've come a long way to get where you are, having heard of the vigilante band approaching Dusty Gulch. With the help of the sheriff, you'll get rid of them all if it's the last thing you do.

Ability : Police Force
Use : Always on.
You have a police force that you can communicate with at will (mason group). Their names will be given to you in a separate PM.

Ability : The Power of Chuck Norris
Use : Always on.
You can't be killed until the start of Day 5.

Ability : Justice
Use : Automatic.
At the start of each day divisible by 3, you will learn the name of the role of 1 of the vigilantes (chosen at random), but not their username. You will not learn the same person's name twice this way.

Win condition: All threats to Dusty Gulch removed

omg i swear tdl got this randomly

Since this was a Wild West game, I wanted to have some sort of reference to Walker, Texas Ranger in it...and TDL got it. He was top wolf for 2 games in a row, so he's already naturally suspicious. Now he gets a role that makes him basically invincible. He was also the figurehead of the Police Force mason group, taking the information gotten from sillykyle and HypnoticLuxray and voicing it out. After all, what are the wolves gonna do - kill him?

The wolves actually picked up on that and decided to use their roleblocker on him to get him to die. Unfortunately for them, it didn't trigger until the start of day 5 - which is exactly when TDL's protection ran out. Sucks to be him! However, he was targeted for a kill later, but the priest blocked it, and the psychic also gave him another layer of protection. But in the end he sadly succumbed to drugs. TDL took every bullet aimed at him and then some, and took them all like a boss.

10. The Psychic's Cat (oyeah1988)
The Psychic's Cat
Alignment: Dusty Gulch

Yeah, you read this right - you're a cat. You're owned by the psychic. And, through some strange fluke of circumstance, you can also talk. With this combination, some people might think that you're some sort of demonic familiar. But no, since this is a fantasy world, you're just a talking cat.

Ability : Silent Footfall
Use : Once per night.
When you use this ability, PM me the name of any 1 player, except yourself. At the start of the next day, I will tell you which players (if any) targeted your chosen person during the night.

Ability : Crazy Cat Lady
Use : Always on.
Your owner is also a player in this game. Her name will be given to you in a separate PM (mason group).

Win Condition: All threats to Dusty Gulch removed

I liked designing this role. I gave it my own ability from last game (Shifty Eyes became Silent Footfall), and made it a mason with the psychic - like the priest, but much better. oyeah1988 got this role, which is awesome because I knew he'd put it to good use. I think he was able to successfully find one of the wolves at one point and get him lynched. Other than that, I believe he was instrumental in proving a few peeps' innocence. I don't remember for sure. It's all in the backlogs.

11. The Town Drunk (One Approved)
The Town Drunk
Alignment: Dusty Gulch

You're the town drunk. Everyone knows who you are. Some people are a bit turned off by how strange you are, but everyone already knows that you're perfectly harmless. You're a regular at the saloon, and you go there every day for a drink.

Ability : Slurred Speech
Use : Always on.
Whenever you post in the topic during the day, you can't post more than 20 words at a time, and each post must contain at least 1 spelling/grammar mistake in it somewhere.

Win condition: All threats to Dusty Gulch removed

Other than giving the bartender someone to give a double-vote power to right away, there's not much I can say here.

also lol town drunk

12. The Postman (Bisharp37)

A really really REALLY good role - that he never needed to use. Basically, on every even-numbered night, he couldn't be targeted by a night role - including the night kill. I'm just sad he never got a chance to use this. Other than that, there's nothing here, so time to move on.

13. The Ninja (doublenikesocks)
The Ninja
Alignment: Dusty Gulch

Surprise, you're a ninja! A master of the art of stealth, deceit...and, when necessary, murder. No one knows who you truly are, and you would like to keep it that way.

Ability : Stealth
Use : Always on.
You are unaffected by any night roles, except the vigilante nightly kill (explained later). If someone tries to use a night role to target you, you will be aware of who did so at the start of the next day.

Ability : Deceit
Use : Automatic.
Your role and abilities will be completely concealed from view to everyone. This even includes after death.

Ability : Murder
Use : Automatic.
If you are targeted for the vigilante nightly kill, there's a 50% chance you will not die. Instead, the vigilante who tried to kill you will be killed instead. This will be revealed at the start of the next day, in the daily update.

Win condition: All threats to Dusty Gulch removed

This is obviously my favorite role I got to write. I really really wanted to slip a ninja in here somewhere, and I did. The point of the role was to make a townie who would end up killing the wolf sent after them - with a 50% chance. I got worried I'd never see this used, based on what the wolves were thinking, but Kecleon-X volunteered to go after DNS...and got unlucky. DNS killed him. Funnily enough, DNS is the kind of player who lays low during WW games, and thus would be the perfect person to give this role. The alternative would be someone who talks a lot and tries to lead the discussion, and both work equally well. I'm just glad it got set off.

14. The Messenger (Zyflair)
The Messenger
Alignment: Vigilantes

You're the messenger for the vigilantes. Your role is to strike fear into the hearts of the townspeople, and you're basically the vigilantes' spokesperson. Don't forget, intimidation of the common people is your friend!

Ability : Signpost
Use : Once per night.
When you use this ability, PM me a message that is 20 words or less. (The subject matter may be anything you please, but if it somehow violates game or forum rules, I will ask for another message.) That message will be posted in the town square the following day - namely, that everyone will see this message at the start of the next day.

Ability : Secret Hideout
Use : Always on.
You have free access to the Vigilante's Hideout, and can use it to communicate at will with your team.

Win condition: Vigilantes must match, or exceed, the remaining number of players

lol hatman

Zyflair was like the perfect assistant to Teal. He pulled a really ballzy move day 1 - try to implicate Cinesra and/or Teal, putting two really good players (of opposing factions) into the spotlight. In the end, it got disregarded because Cinesra pulled a trump card (literally) of his own and put the spotlight on someone else. Zyflair did try his best, though, and I'll give him that, but unfortunately he got discovered early on by the game's MVP seer. RIP.

15. The Gambler (Cinesra)
The Gambler
Alignment: Dusty Gulch

You're a gambler, the town's resident card shark. No one knows much about who you are, except that you are frequently seen at the saloon always trying to hustle up players for a good-natured game of poker. Of course, that doesn't mean you might not cheat...

Ability : Poker Game
Use : Once per night.
When you use this ability, PM me the names of any number of players (up to 3). That player will be asked anonymously at the start of the next day if he or she wishes to participate in a poker game. That player is free to accept or deny your offer. If that player accepts, he or she becomes one of your "poker players". If you don't have 4 poker players at the start of a night (including yourself), you can use this ability again the next night, but you can only send out invitations equal to the number of empty spots you have. As soon as you have 4 poker players (including yourself), you learn all of their role names, plus their alignments (but not their abilities), and you can't use this role anymore.

Ability : Die of Death
Use : Once per game.
You can use this ability during the day or the night. When you use this ability, PM me saying that you wish to use it. I will then roll a 6-sided die. Then, at the end of the current day (or night), the following effect will happen:
  • 1: You will die.
  • 2: One player of your choice will die.
  • 3: One player chosen at random will die.
  • 4: One vigilante chosen at random will die.
  • 5: One player of your choice will be protected from the vigilante nightly kill for the next 2 nights. (If they try to kill that player, nothing happens.)
  • 6: You will be protected from the vigilante nightly kill for the next 2 nights.

Win condition: All threats to Dusty Gulch removed

And speaking of Cinesra...again, here's another fun role. He didn't waste any time: he contacted PMJ, TDL, and TheGuy for a poker game, and they all accepted - thus auto-vindicating PMJ and TDL on day 1, and identifying TheGuy as an indie. The move didn't pay off quite as well as hoped, since Guy lived, but it was still a nice shot, given how Zyflair's note was trying to implicate him. Then, on top of that, he used his Die immediately, and rolled a 6, thus saving his own skin. After that he had no more ammo and admitted as much, and thus managed to survive the game. Again, he took his role and played with it well. I think he did a very good job.

16. The Performer (Chariblaze)
The Performer
Alignment: Dusty Gulch

You're a performer who is frequently seen around the saloon, and your forte is acting. Every so often you put on a play for the public's amusement, and you play your role impeccably well. You immerse yourself fully in your work, both on and off the stage.

Ability : Perfect Mimicry
Use : Automatic.
At the start of each night, I will PM you the abilities of all the players who died during the past 24 hours. You can choose 1 of them, and use that ability as your own for this night. Certain abilities cannot be copied with this (if they can't, I will not PM them to you).

Win condition: All threats to Dusty Gulch removed

Unlike Tracy last game, Chariblaze actually got to use his role - twice. When Puff got lynched, he stole his Skip Town ability to protect himself (good idea), and then when Zyflair got lynched, he decided to use the Signpost ability to post "paint flicker gemini quasi dehydrate asparagus SPELUNK" for the lolz. Then he promptly got killed, again for the lolz. And there was much laughter.

Although, by that point they'd ignored Zyflair's notes completely, but it was still worth a laugh. Don't hate him, guys.

17. The Lovestruck Man (Dark Void)
The Lovestruck Man
Alignment: Vigilantes

You are the generic romantic of the group. You don't let your emotions be seen by many people on the surface, but there is one woman in the town whom you have affections for. You know you have to take out the townsfolk one by one, but if only there was some way to keep her alive...!

Ability : Lovers
Use : Always on.
There is a girl in the town with whom you are head over heels in love with. Her name will be given to you in a separate PM (mason group). You cannot share this person's name with anyone.

Ability : Heartbreak
Use : Automatic.
If your partner is lynched, the first person to vote for her will be killed by you at the start of the next day. If your partner is killed in some other fashion, you will commit suicide.

Ability : Secret Hideout
Use : Always on.
You have free access to the Vigilante's Hideout, and can use it to communicate at will with your team.

Win condition: Vigilantes must match, or exceed, the remaining number of players
Alternate Win condition: You and your lover must survive until the end of Night 6. If you do, you will both be declared winners, and removed for the remainder of this game.

i swear dark void got this randomly too

Poor DV. Lover role two games in a row...and had to commit suicide two games in a row. When King Arceus got killed by a one-shot role, Dark Void ended up having to kill himself, and thus the wolves were down one. I'm pretty sure he was desperate to survive all the way to day 6, and had to hide that condition from his teammates at all costs. But he just got screwed over, again. I pity him, I really do.

18. The Assassin (King Piplup)
The Assassin
Alignment: Vigilantes

You are a highly trained assassin working with the vigilantes. Your skills at dealing death are unmatched, and you know at least 3 ways to kill a man with a single paper clip. But, of course, you know that knives and guns are usually more efficient.

Ability : Death-Dealer
Use : Once per night; once per game.
When you use this ability, PM me the name of any 1 player, except yourself. Three nights later, at the end of that night, you will kill that person. This does not include the vigilante nightly kill. You can't use this on the same night as Neutralizer.

Ability : Neutralizer
Use : Once per night; once per game.
When you use this ability, PM me the name of any 1 player, except yourself. At the end of the next night, that player's roles are all negated, except for mason roles. You can't use this on the same night as Death-Dealer.

Ability : Secret Hideout
Use : Always on.
You have free access to the Vigilante's Hideout, and can use it to communicate at will with your team.

Win condition: Vigilantes must match, or exceed, the remaining number of players

King Piplup was a bit of an unknown for me, and to see him get one of the game's most powerful roles did have me a little concerned, but he quickly proved himself to be a competent player. What happened was he used his Death Dealer ability on PMJ early on, then the next night Neutralized TDL. Then, when he finally got called out about his wolfishness, he did a really daring move, stating that he used a kill role and a roleblocker...but switched the targets - he lied and said he roleblocked PMJ and went to kill TDL. This got the town paranoid...and they actually believed him. KP went down fighting but he got the whole town believing him.

In the end, the roleblocking on TDL did nothing of note (as I mentioned earlier), and the psychic protected PMJ beforehand, thus blocking Death Dealer. Ouch. A really great role stopped cold by bad luck.

19. The Piano Player (Meaty)
The Piano Player
Alignment: Dusty Gulch

Every good saloon needs a good piano player...and guess what, you're it. You're good at tickling the ivory, having practiced it for many years, and you also help to keep the atmosphere calm.

Ability : This Song Goes Out to All of You
The number of votes required for you to be lynched is 2 more than normal. (When tallies are posted, 2 of the votes won't count.)

Win condition: All threats to Dusty Gulch removed

Meaty had another snowball role - the longer the game dragged on, the more powerful he'd become...and although he didn't have any real powers, in the late game he would be basically unlynchable. But the wolves killed him early on and put an end to that story. Oh dear.

20. The Alien (TheGuy)
The Alien
Alignment: None

You are an alien. Your full name is Wowbagger, the Infinitely Prolonged. You've recently noticed immortality isn't all it's cracked up to be, and so you take it out by insulting people in a variety of different ways.

Ability : You're a Clod
Use : Once per night; mandatory
You must use this ability each night or you will be removed from the game. PM me the name of 1 player, plus an insulting message (of 20 words or less) to send to that player. I will send the message anonymously to that player, at the start of the next day. (If I find your message is too insulting, possibly even bordering on direct flaming, I will ask you for a different message.)

Ability : Immortal
Use : Always on.
If you would die (by any means), you have a 50% chance of surviving instead. In that case, the killing effect will just do nothing and the game will continue. This includes the vigilante nightly kill, lynching, or any abilities that kill players.

Win condition: Survive until there are only 7 players left

I wanted to put a 2nd indie into the game, and I also wanted to do a silly Cowboys vs Aliens schtick. The result was this role. Wowbagger the Infinitely Prolonged is who this role is based off of, and he's a character in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. If you haven't read it, you should. He's a character who is immortal, and has found up immortality isn't all it's cracked up to be - and thus has made it his mission to insult every lifeform in the galaxy at least once.

And now you know why TheGuy was sending those random insulting messages every night. Anyway, Cinesra called TheGuy out Day 1, and they tried to turbo-lynch him - but Guy got lucky on the 50% chance and survived. This basically gave him a ticket to survive the game, but also made him come under fire with a lot of questions. He answered a lot of them with outright funny lies, but there was one nugget of truth: he'd win if he was one of the final 7. That's why they went for him in the endgame - because that's when he'd be a threat. There'd still only be a 50% chance and they might waste time, but unfortunately TheGuy died at that point.

I was talking with Teal in the endgame, and both he and I really wanted TheGuy to win. It'd be a long time since an indie won, and it'd be in the most interesting way possible. But I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Maybe an indie will win next game.

21. The Dragon (Porygon-X)
The Dragon
Alignment: Vigilantes

You are "the Dragon" - namely, the second-in-command of the vigilantes. The big boss man has put his trust in you completely, securing your position as his most loyal confidant. And, like the boss, no one dares disobey your orders.

Ability : Criminal Mastermind
Use : Always on.
If anyone tries to read your alignment, it will show up as "Dusty Gulch". This ability stops working when 1 of the following conditions is met, whichever happens soonest:
  • When Day 4 is over
  • When 2 vigilantes are dead
  • When the ringleader is dead

Hidden Ability : Next in Line
Use : Always on.
You will be the first to inherit the "Big Boss" ability when the leader dies. (This role will not be seen by anyone but you, even upon death.)

Ability : Secret Hideout
Use : Always on.
You have free access to the Vigilante's Hideout, and can use it to communicate at will with your team.

Win condition: Vigilantes must match, or exceed, the remaining number of players

He would show up as innocent for the early game. But then he got found by the MVP seer and his number was up. Although, after ESP died, he did do a decent job of ringleading, but whatever.

22. The Desperado (Bippa)
The Desperado
Alignment: Dusty Gulch

You're one of the guys with the local police force - the desperado. Although you definitely have the best interests at heart, your methods are a little...unorthodox. You want to drag evildoers out into the light of day and have them beg for mercy while you administer your special brand of justice.

Ability : One-Shot Wonder
Use : Once per game.
When you use this ability, PM me the name of any 1 player, except yourself. At the start of the next day, that player will die.

Win condition: All threats to Dusty Gulch removed

I was actually really afraid that giving this role to Bippa would cause him to royally screw something up. Fortunately, he didn't - it caused quite the opposite. Granted, King Arceus was a townie, but it not only made a wolf commit suicide, but it also slowed down the drug-dealer. He also used it in the early game, plus never gave any indication that he was the one who did it. At one point there was a tracking device on Bippa, and it caused Teal to believe that Bippa might be the drug dealer (since they were both near the alley that night).

But hey, Bippa's kill was pretty well-timed...and lucky. Really lucky.

23. The Psychic (ShadowLugia)
The Psychic
Alignment: Dusty Gulch

You are the town's psychic. Your practices have come into question lately - but then again, that's part of the job for a psychic. Yet, you don't wish harm on anyone, and when hearing of the vigilantes, you decide to put to powers for good use.

Ability : Protection
Use : Once every other night.
When you use this ability, PM me the name of any 1 player, except yourself. If you do, the next time that player is targeted for a night kill by anyone, that player won't die. You aren't allowed to target the same player more than once, until Protection wears off on that player. If Protection activates and successfully protects a player, you will be notified via PM.

Ability : Crazy Cat Lady
Use : Always on.
Your cat is also a player in this game. Its name will be given to you in a separate PM (mason group).

Win Condition: All threats to Dusty Gulch removed

I consider this ability to be the second-best in this game, behind the Investigator. Why? Well, it's like a priest, but with two main differences: first, it's slower, being usable only ever other night; second, it will protect that person from the next night kill they might face - and it doesn't matter when it happens. That effectively gives them a get-out-of-death-free card and they don't even know it.

ShadowLugia got paired with oyeah1988 as a mason group, and to be honest I couldn't ask for anything better. They were golden. Granted, ShadowLugia got killed, but he managed to set 3 protections, 2 of which went off. (The 3rd one would have gone off as well, had it not been for someone else coming to the rescue.) The first protection he placed wasn't on himself, but on his mason buddy - a very smart move on his part, given how oyeah was by far the more vocal.

24. The Doctor (safariblade)
The Doctor
Alignment: Dusty Gulch

You are the town's doctor. Your primary purposes is to help and tend to the wounded, and you pursue this with a passion. You're not exactly fond of this conflict, but you do what you must.

Ability : Examination
Use : Once every other night.
When you use this ability, PM me the name of any 1 player. If you do, the effect of any night role that is affecting that person (including from previous nights) is removed. (This doesn't include roles that just pick a person's name for an effect.) You can't use this on night 0.

Win Condition: All threats to Dusty Gulch removed

I cringed when safariblade got this. He had the capacity to deal some real havoc with this, and not the good kind. If I recall correctly, this role nullified the effects of Drug Dealer, Psychic, possibly Investigator, and 1 or 2 others. Fortunately, he didn't cause anything to happen and I had to modkill him for making too many edits. I think we were all a little happier because of that.

25. The Carrier (PMJ)
The Carrier
Alignment: Dusty Gulch

You're just an average person...or are you? Unbeknownst to you, you've been a carrier for a rather deadly disease that, fortunately, has been lying dormant in you your whole life...and not even you know about it, unless you somehow managed to break the fourth wall.

Ability : Contagious
Use : Automatic.
If you are killed (but not lynched), your killer will die 2 days later, at the start of that day. If you are lynched, the first person to have voted for you that day loses all his or her roles 2 days later, at the start of that day, except for mason roles and the vigilante's nightly kill ability.

Win condition: All threats to Dusty Gulch removed

This role is awesome and you know it. PMJ made good use of it too. It would have worked too, except the two people to target him for kills were King Piplup and Infinity...and they both died before PMJ did. However, KP's kill got blocked by the psychic, letting him live longer. As soon as Infinity picked PMJ to give drugs to, I knew he was screwed, but they both got screwed earlier on, so it balances out.

26. The Bartender (Argetlam)
The Bartender
Alignment: Dusty Gulch

Everyone knows you. You're the bartender, one of the friendliest guys in town. You help to run the saloon and keep everything running smoothly. And, of course, every now and then you serve up a beer to whoever wants one.

Ability : Friendly Banter
Use : Once per night.
When you use this ability, PM me the name of any 1 player, except yourself. Three nights later, at the start of that night, you will be told that player's alignment. At that point, that person becomes a "regular" at the saloon. You may have multiple regulars. (This is explained in the next ability.) There is also a town drunk, who is automatically one of your regulars from the start of the game. (His alignment is "Dusty Gulch", and his name will be sent to you in a separate PM.)

Ability : Regular
Use : Once per night.
When you use this ability, PM me the name of any 1 player who is a regular at your saloon. Then, based on that player's alignment, you can choose apply the appropriate effect.
  • If that player is aligned with Dusty Gulch, that player's lynch vote counts as 2 during the next day.
  • If that player has an alignment that isn't Dusty Gulch, and you vote for that player, your vote counts as 2 during the next day.

Win condition: All threats to Dusty Gulch removed

Argetlam had a lot of people after his head and...I'm not sure why. He actually had a pretty good role - you get to find out someone's alignment, and then after that you can give them a double vote, thus making him one of the seers. He put it to good use with One Approved, and he amassed a lot of regulars, but he got done in by the insomniac.

Interestingly enough, Teal became one of his regulars, but due to Teal's ability, he showed up as innocent - a narrow save. But why did the town want to go after Argetlam anyway? I don't get it.

27. The Priest (Eevee)
The Priest
Alignment: Dusty Gulch

You're the town's resident priest. You moved here from out east to spread the message of salvation among the townsfolk, and although it's a tough job, you enjoy it nonetheless.

Ability : Sanctuary
Use : Once per night.
When you use this ability, PM me the name of any 1 player. If you do, if that player is targeted for a kill by anyone during the night, that player won't die.

Ability : Holy Intervention
Use : Always on.
If you're targeted for a kill by anyone during any night divisible by 3, you will not die.

Win Condition: All threats to Dusty Gulch removed

A traditional WW role, with a bit of an added bonus (Holy Intervention). She only successfully protected someone once - it was TDL on night 6 iirc, and then she promptly gets lynched by TDL and co. the next day, thus proving the town are lucksacking idiots. Seriously, I'm disappointed in you people.

28. The Young Woman (Gistica -> superpokemon67)
The Young Woman
Alignment: Dusty Gulch

You're a young woman in Dusty Gulch, just waiting for your Prince Charming to appear. You'll wait as long as you have to for that perfect man to appear, because waiting will make it all the more sweeter.

Ability : Waiting for Love
Use : Automatic.
Your true love is someone else in this game, but you don't know who, yet. When your true love finds you, both of you will be given extra abilities via PM, at the start of the next day. You will also become a mason group at that time.

Ability : Hasten the Sunrise
Use : Once per night; twice per game.
You can use this ability any time during a night. PM me to use this ability. That night will end instantly. Any night roles, including the vigilante's nightly kill, will be treated as having not been used. You can't use this ability on consecutive nights.

Win condition: All threats to Dusty Gulch removed

Gistica didn't play this role really well. Superpokemon67 did. He pointed out every so often in the topic that he was "waiting for love", a direct hint to his role. It also gave the hint to Riskbreakers; he was basically saying "Hey, I'm over here! Find me!". He got to use his role once in the late-game, but it wouldn't have been much help at that point - it would have actually paid off better the night before (when he elected not to use it), but there's no way he could have known that.

(On the night he made the sun rise, Teal targeted oyeah1988 for a kill, but oyeah already had a Protection on, so nothing would have happened.)

29. The Police Chief (HypnoticLuxray)
The Police Chief
Alignment: Dusty Gulch

You are the police chief of Dusty Gulch. In conjunction with the sheriff, you help to apprehend and imprison the bad guys. Plus you wanted to join the job for all the notoriety you get. Cops are cool. They have guns. You have a gun. That was the ulterior motive for joining the force.

Ability : Snoop Around
Use : Once per night.
When you use this ability, PM me the name of any 1 player, except yourself. At the start of the next day, I will tell you the name of that person's ability (for example, this ability is called Snoop Around). If the player has more than 1 ability, you will learn one at random. If you choose the same person more than once, you will learn a different ability each time.

Ability : Police Force
Use : Always on.
You have a police force that you can communicate with at will (mason group). Their names will be given to you in a separate PM.

Win condition: All threats to Dusty Gulch removed

This guy was the MVP of the game, I kid you not. He was the ultimate seer.

HypnoticLuxray and TDL were the perfect pair of masons - HypnoLux would feed TDL the information he was given, and TDL, being unkillable, would proclaim it. I don't know if HypnoLux got lucky or what, but he was going off several hunches when picking his targets to investigate, and I think he found 3 wolves this way (Zyflair, ESP, and Porygon-X). He would have found a 4th, Teal (the final wolf), but Teal killed him first.

Either way, I am incredibly impressed at HypnoticLuxray for playing well. Sadly, TDL got all the praise for the feats that he performed to help the town out, so as compensation: HypnoLux, drinks are on me. As much as you want.

30. The Ringleader (9Tailz -> ESP)
The Ringleader
Alignment: Vigilantes

You are the ruthless leader of the rugged band of vigilantes that has come into town. Your goal is simple: to bring this town under the grip of your iron fist, and you will do anything in your power to do so.

Ability : Big Boss
Use : Once per night.
You can't use this on night 0. When you use this ability, PM me the name of any 1 non-vigilante player, plus the name of 1 of your vigilantes (it can be yourself or anyone on your team). The first player you chose will be killed, and the vigilante you chose will be the one who does the killing that night. If you are killed, this ability will pass to another vigilante at random (chosen by me).

Ability : Secret Hideout
Use : Always on.
You have free access to the Vigilante's Hideout, and can use it to communicate at will with your team.

Win condition: Vigilantes must match, or exceed, the remaining number of players

My reaction at seeing utter newbie get ringleader role: Dangit. Teal, Zyflair, help her out.
My reaction at seeing utter pro replace newbie: YAY ESP <3

Too bad he got found out. But hey, he got into the game and got to be the ringleader, so I have no complaints. He played well, as usual.

31. The Sheriff (dmaster)
The Sheriff
Alignment: Dusty Gulch

You are the sheriff, the main authority figurehead in this town. Having heard about the arrival of the vigilantes, you are bound and determined to be rid of them forever.

Ability : Only Law West of the Pecos
Use : Always on.
Your vote counts as 2 votes for the purposes of lynching.

Ability : Authority
Use : Once per game.
If you are voted to be lynched during the day, you may use this ability. You are not lynched, and instead, the first person to have voted for you will be killed. At that time, your entire role will be quoted and revealed (by me) in the topic.

Ability : Police Force
Use : Always on.
You have a police force that you can communicate with at will (mason group). Their names will be given to you in a separate PM.

Win Condition: All threats to Dusty Gulch removed

I wept SO HARD when dmaster was killed Night 1. It was like a repeat of WW10.

For anyone not familiar with WW10, I DNA had been given the role of Captain, and the role is similar to what you see here, but I also got to direct the plot. I got zero air-time out of the ability, because I was night-killed on the very first night. (I was brought back to life later and killed some wolves, but one of them put a killing curse on me and I died AGAIN.)

That being said, I could really sympathize with dmaster here, since what happened to him had happened to me. I contacted him via PM later and deeply apologized for what happened - the wolves had, like in WW10, gotten lucky and killed the sheriff/captain on night 1. dmaster didn't believe it was entirely luck, as was to be expected, and he was a little bitter - and I definitely don't blame him! That did allow Mokoko/sillykyle to get his double-vote right away, but I never ever got to see the Authority ability being used. That sucked, because I really wanted dmaster to spend some time alive.

32. The Thug (Kecleon-X)
The Thug
Alignment: Vigilantes

You are a large brawny man, with not much in the way of brains. You are given your orders, and you follow them to a T. This, no doubt, has made you an indispensable asset to the big boss.

Ability : Tough Skin
Use : Always on.
If you are targeted for any role, except for performing the vigilante's nightly kill, it only has a 75% chance of success. This doesn't include roles that can kill people, and it stops working at the start of Day 4.

Ability : Secret Hideout
Use : Always on.
You have free access to the Vigilante's Hideout, and can use it to communicate at will with your team.

Win condition: Vigilantes must match, or exceed, the remaining number of players

Generic wolf getting generic role played generically. And then got killed by a ninja.

So yeah. I tried to make this game run smoothly, but...yeah. It went by way too fast. I'm sorry, guys. If you want someone to blame, you can blame Chillarmy because he's never here.

But seriously...I'm as disappointed in this game as much as several of you are. If you have any other comments and such about this game and how it could have been better, say on.

The town was really overpowered / the wolves underpowered this game. :C

If there was a role that was severely overpowered, it was mine.
I must say, for being a confirmed indie day one again, this game was fun.
