XY What Cool New Pokémon / Evolution Do You Want to See in the 6th Generation?

RE: What cool new Pokemon/evolution do you want to see in the 6th generation?

If I were to choose any inanimate object to be a 'mon it wold be a clock. A grandfather clock, to be specific.

We have so many feline Pokemon already. Sure, there's a lot of options for more concepts, bur I don't think they're needed. We've already got a definite fire feline-like Pokemon, like that's never been done before.

I like turtle Pokemon, therefore I think Torkoal should get a pre-evolution. Also, I could see a Zangoose and Seviper evolution.

Here's a list of Pokemon that I want to gain an evolution. Or a pre-evolution.

-Torkoal (Pre)
-Tropius (Pre)
-Absol (Pre)
-Jinx/Jynx (I forget how to spell it, Evo)
-Onix (Pre)
-Lapras (Pre)
-Marcargo (Evo)
-Chatot (Evo)
-Combee (Male Evo, into a bee soldier or something)
-Sevpier (Both)
-Zangoose (Both)

That's all.

I want a dragon cat! :D There aren't enough feline Pokémon that don't just look like domestic cats. So few are inspired by lions, tigers, cheetahs etc. I'd personally like one along the lines of Tauros... simple, and close to its real-life counterpart, but still pretty cool.

It's a normal cat that someone glued a jewel on.

Yes, a *domestic* cat. Not particularly reminiscent of a big cat like a lion, cheetah or tiger. I guess it looks a bit like a cougar, but cougars are really closely related to domestic cats anyway.

RE: What cool new Pokemon/evolution do you want to see in the 6th generation?

Speaking of cats, do we have a Cheetah Pokemon?

RE: What cool new Pokemon/evolution do you want to see in the 6th generation?

Well, this is something Bulbapedia says about Suicune: "Suicune's anatomy may also be based on the cheetah, which is considerable, due to the fact that cheetahs and leopards, both being swift, sleek spotted cats, are often confused with each other and thought to be the same animal."

Soo, maybe Suicune is some kind of cheetah Pokémon?

RE: What cool new Pokemon/evolution do you want to see in the 6th generation?

Evolutions of old Pokémon:
Dunsparce- poor thing is so underused. I love its design and it is screaming for an evolution.
Farfetch'd- Not much to explain. Stats are awful, but it is so cool looking.
Stunfisk- I don't understand the hate. The derpiness of it makes me love it so much. An evolution would make it so much better! The typing is awesome

I want to see a:
Koala
Dolphin
Snowy Owl
Arctic Fox
Yak
Jack-o'-lantern
Flamingo
Sugar Glider
Swordfish
Ostrich
Grasshopper
Lion

Sorry if I sound like a jerk, but I'd just like to express my opinion. I think we have enough canines and felines in the Pokemon world, don't you? Think about it, Here is a list of all the feline and canine Pokemon. [That I could think of]

-Evee line
-New fire starter
-Growlithe/Vulpix line
-Purrloin line
-Glameow line
-Meowth line
-Skitty line
-Beast trio [Suicune, Raikou, Entei]
-Mew [It has cat-like characteristics]
-Houndor line
-Poochyena line
-Electrike line
-Shinx line
-Lillpup line
-Zorua line

Enough doggies, kitties and foxes for you?

I know I've asked for a lot of Pokemon, but here are my top 5 things I want to see a Pokemon based off of, in no specific order.

-Grandfather Clock
-Cassowary Bird
-Glow Worm
-Mosquito/Wriggler
-Parrotfish

RE: What cool new Pokemon/evolution do you want to see in the 6th generation?

hmm....

a bird of paradise with multiple forms, possibly depending on time of year, location, or something else?
some kind of pokemon that ends up with a solid color instead of a pattern as a shiny, like some kind of tiger that happens to be a non-glittery black panther
some kind of college grad pokemon? :p
dimetrodon and spinosaurus fossils (hopefully not water or fire, since dimetro was a synapsid in the desert, and spino was a dino by water)
Apalka/Aparuka (i wanted one so bad...)
a jerboa pokemon (preferably being the new Chu)

RE: What cool new Pokemon/evolution do you want to see in the 6th generation?

I want a dolphin and a Phoenix. I guess Ho-Oh is a phoenix but I want another one :)
(Not to mention that Ho-Oh kinda looks like an ordinary bird)

Now for some extinct species that could come out well as Pokemon...

Stegosaurus (this would be epic)

Believe it or not, Girafarig shares some characteristics with the Stegosaurus. Here's a picture of Girafarig.

Stegosaurus(s) are known for their spines along their back. Girafarig also has those spines, maybe not so spectacular, but something worth mentioning. What is really interesting is, paleontologists have discovered that Stegosaurus(s) have a second BRAIN in their tail. So does Girafarig. Sure, there's a possibility that GameFreak will make a Stegosaurus Pokemon. Y'know, with huge spines on their backs. I don't know if this was intended or not, but if you don't believe me, check Girafarig's Bulbapedia page.

RE: What cool new Pokemon/evolution do you want to see in the 6th generation?

That's what I like about Pokemon; they tend to incorporate design/conceptual elements from multiple creatures and other things into their designs. Like Girafarig having Stegosaur elements, and Seadra having lionfish elements. It's neat.

Now that I'm talking about that sort of thing, I'm kind of a fan of visual pun Pokemon... Like Genesect; it's a "computer bug". And Shaymin is a "hedgehog".
I think I really want a literal "mud puppy" for gen 6 now. I also second the parrot fish idea that got mentioned some posts ago.

Yes, and another 'mon worth mentioning is a personal favorite of mine, Eleketross. To a child playing the games, it's obviously an electric eel, but to me me it's more lamprey than anything. I think this was intended, because GF took the animal, lamprey and expanded on the "lamp" part, and made it a terrifying, sharp-toothed, levitating monster fused with electricity somehow. I mean, look at it. it's awesome.

RE: What cool new Pokemon/evolution do you want to see in the 6th generation?

I think legendaries for the four funamental forces of the universe would be cool. Gravity one should have an auto-Gravity ability, electromagnetic one I can see being Electric type with Magnet Pull, weak force could be Poison type and have some ability that decays the opponent's health(because it's radioactive decay), but I'm not sure what a strong force one would be like.

RE: What cool new Pokemon/evolution do you want to see in the 6th generation?

What is really interesting is, paleontologists have discovered that Stegosaurus(s) have a second BRAIN in their tail.

Actually, this was theorized by the man who first discovered Stegosaurus, all the way back in 1877, and by the 1900's it was disproven. He thought it had a second brain because, at the time, people thought dinosaurs were "big, stupid lizards" and needed more than one brain to control their huge bodies. We also know now that this isn't necessary, as a brain of any size can control an animal of any size. :)

The concept of a creature with a second brain or head in its tail, however, has been around before dinosaurs, and is in lots of other monsters, without any connection to Stegosaurus. Girafarig's triangular back spines also have nothing in common with those of Stegosaurus; thousands of other cartoon monsters and real animals have those triangular plates.

There is nothing stegosaurus-like about Girafarig at all, intentionally or even accidentally. You could just as easily connect it to a crocodile or a snake :p

Well, this is something Bulbapedia says about Suicune: "Suicune's anatomy may also be based on the cheetah, which is considerable, due to the fact that cheetahs and leopards, both being swift, sleek spotted cats, are often confused with each other and thought to be the same animal."

Don't treat Bulbapedia's "origin" section as a source... It's written by completely ordinary fans, like you, who are making rough guesses. This is a reasonable guess, but it's still ONLY a guess, by some kid who edited the page at some point.

RE: What cool new Pokemon/evolution do you want to see in the 6th generation?

I think it's kind of silly to say that the second brain and spikes definitely weren't inspired just because the real-world theory turned out to be false. Pokemon seems to take just as much from myth and popular ideas as it does actual biology.
Surprised they haven't made a cliff-jumping lemming-esque Pokemon yet. Too dark?

RE: What cool new Pokemon/evolution do you want to see in the 6th generation?

It takes as much from myth, but there's no reason to think that it was taken from something as specific as stegosaurus.

The early designs for Girafarig just had a second full-size giraffe head on its butt, it was like an Amphisbaena, or numerous other mythical creatures with a face at both ends :)

An example more people may be familiar with is the "pushmi-pullyu" from the Doctor Dolittle stories

RE: What cool new Pokemon/evolution do you want to see in the 6th generation?

A lot of people were saying before how some animals were less likely because this is set in France, but we already know it has a pokemon based on a Chinese panda and what may be an Australian frilled-necked lizard.

the creatures were never limited to what the region is based on...i mean Unova had tornadus/thundurus which are more japanese than lots of gen I-IV legends
