XY What do you think Gen 6's "gimmick" will be?

Wait....with this new system of battling....do you think it might be more like the anime? You can order your pokemon to dodge and use the environment? Maybe make it so depending on how well you time a dodge is how likely it will work, then have it like I don't know, kingdom hearts 2 battle system and have tha attacker hit a button to adapt to an enemies dodge with something new or miss your chance and your turn is over? I think I'm confusing myself...

That's quite a leap to go from "developing bonds with your Pokemon" to "ordering your Pokemon to dodge". No, it's most likely some new mechanic that makes your Pokemon stronger based on their happiness, which makes sense because happiness is a mechanic that's been present since 2nd gen but hasn't really been that useful.

I've always been waiting for the battling to be more like the anime, I wasn't taking anything mentioned before into account when I said that, I'm just saying what I've always thought.

Although I think the dodging mechanic would be abuses and battles would go on forever and who ever can dodge best wins but having your pokemon adapt the way they react after a dodge (you use flamethrower on a pikachu and it leaps into the air above you, you order your pokemon to aim it's flamethrower up to hit the pikachu) could change the outcome of every attack

Anime style battling would be a bit too complex for the main games, and besides, the main games are more about strategy than action. I wouldn't mind something like that for a spinoff like Rumble, something that focuses on real time battling and actually allows you to control Pokemon in that sort of way.

Double. Battle. Champion.
Seems difficult actually. Most people just invest their time into one Pokemon, so if your opponent has two out, makes it harder because now you will need at least two good Pokemon in your team.

Make it a triple battle and you'll have something fierce. A double battle with my level 80 Emboar and 15 Full Restores and Revives is easy.

I actually beat the e4 and champion on white 2 without any healing items and on my first try, I was so surprised.

Rotational battle with the champion would be awesome

If the whole bonding mechanism they're hinting at works similarly to how it's been suggested it might work... Theoretically the competitive scene could be more interesting. I don't know how they'd do it without breaking everything, but just imagine - your cherished Charizard that you've been migrating all the way up from FRLG can finally break free of the chains of its in-game team past and proudly lead your team to victory in the VGC.
Also, where are you finding this stuff? Bulbapedia has failed to inform me adequately, it seems.

I have never done that in my entire history of playing Pokemon.

Me neither.

What if there was a feature like the Battle Tower/Subway one where you team up with a friend, except for PvP battles? Think of it - you and a friend design a team, each of you wields half of it, and you go up against two other people with their own team. The more the merrier... right?
Plus, this has hilarious possibilities. You and your friend each create half a team, independently of each other, and your opponents do the same. Then, once everyone's ready to battle, chaos ensues as everyone discovers what Pokemon their partners selected, and people try not to KO friendlies or cripple them with the wrong weather.

I can see a triple battle feature with 6 people. Everyone selects there pokemon and then it randomly puts you with two other people to beat the other 3 in a triple battle. It would have to be local though, 6 people in all different places and using wifi could get sketchy and people dropping would ruin it a bit. But 3 on 3 with 6 people would be fun

What if they made the Elite Four have optional battles? You can take it on as Single Battles, Doubles, Triples, or Rotations.

Or they could make each member focus on one kind of battling. Makes the trainer be a real master at all types of battles.

It would actually be a challenge because Single Battles are great and all, but each require more and more thinking.

Rotation battles with a very strong trainer would have to be well-planned and you would need a team that co-operates well.

If they keep the hard mode then it would probably one of the hardest e4 they've made.

Someone else brought up a problem with this on Serebii, there's a problem with 3 vs. 3 multi battles, is that in Triple Battles, position is everything. If you're on the left or right, you have limited range for targets (with some exceptions based on your movesets, for instance, Acrobatics could hit anyone on the field), but if you're in the middle, you can hit anyone you want. This would lead to a lot of arguments as far as who would take what position.

That's why you make it randomly selected. Or make it so it selects your teammates randomly but strategically placing the pokemon is up to them.
