Pokemon What if Pokemon Gyms Had Two Types?

Pokemon games have had gyms from day one, and the one-type per, trend has been running strong since then.
While there's nothing inherently wrong with this, and it in fact allows the player to learn how the game works by strategizing types, I personally would like to see some new variety in gym themes.

If gyms were to break out of the regular one type each model, what themes would you like to see?​

Be as detailed as you like, but at the very least explain the theme and give the leader's team.

I'll give an example of something I would pick:

Mountain Temple
The cold, monks, and meditation. This gym calls for one to be in tune with their sixth sense, as well as survive the harsh freezing conditions.
Gym Leader Team:

Defeating the gym leader will earn you the Zen Badge, as well as the TM Calm Mind.

I liked how in Diamond, the leaders didn't always use pokemon bound to their gym type.

Well, some ideas I've poked around with for fake game concepts were theme-based and dual-type gyms. For instance, some of my concepts include a gym built into an old barn where trainers use most random early game Pokemon of different types (but they're all Pokemon you'd see on a farm), an ice arena where trainer use craggy Pokemon you'd see on a mountain (including rock, ice, and ghost type ones), and a casino where the kinds of Pokemon you encounter depend on how well you do in a game of Roulette.

A farm gym sounds pretty cool. There are plenty of ranch Pokemon... some that come to mind:

That was out of necessity since DP's Sinnoh Dex was horribly imbalanced as far as types were concerned. A few gym leaders and Elite 4 members had to use random Pokemon because there simply weren't enough Pokemon of their type to fill the rosters. Thankfully, this was fixed in Platinum when they added 60 more Pokemon to the Sinnoh Dex and they were all able to fill their rosters with enough of their types.

I like the idea of having gyms with more complex themes, though, it would certainly keep things fresh and interesting as far as types are concerned, plus it would be more of a challenge since you'd be dealing with a variety of types instead of just one that you can mow through with one Pokemon.

Grumpig doesn't really fit the farm theme. I mean yeah, it's a pig Pokemon, but you only really see it in mountainous areas. Just because its IRL species matches a certain theme doesn't mean the Pokemon itself will.

As for ideas of mine:

-An urban themed gym with Pokemon like Meowth, Eevee, Scraggy, Pidgey, etc.
-A ruins themed gym with Rock, Ground, Psychic, and Ghost types.

Makes me think of perhaps... an industrial theme?

Let's see:

Claydol, Golurk, Cofagrigus, Spiritomb, Sigilyph, Hippowdon, Krookodile, Lunatone, Solrock, Xatu, Bronzong, maybe some fossil Pokemon. That kind of stuff.

there should be a platform or portal-ish gym where you go up to the pad you step on, the floor you're on moves to somewhere else, going in any direction, and keeps going until it turns the whole mixed up metallic gym of random cubes and squares into one giant metal box, allowing easy acess to the gym leader. It'd be even cooler if it sent you to the entrance of the gym after you managed to get it to become a box, so you could walk down to the gym leader as all the platforms the trainers were on float down and have the trainers face you as you walk to the gym leader.

That sounds more like a puzzle idea. The topic is asking for new gym themes, which includes not only gym puzzles, but Pokemon as well.

Dark, psychic, and ghost would be better if the gym is supposed to be mystifying. The idea could be that they are all types that may use deception.

well, what i described isn't mystifying or scary, just a giant, metal colored box that starts off with misc. floating platforms and blocks that go together after you beat each trainer until it creates a giant empty box, which then allows you to walk straight to the gym leader. it's more of an advanced puzzle than something that would fit dark or ghost types due to it not being scary, spooky, or eerie, or dark colored at all!

Circus theme perhaps?

Monkeys and elephants spring to mind when I think of circuses, and Mr. Mime just looks like he'd be suitable.

Puzzle involving circus stunt minigames where you have to walk across tightropes, tame a Luxray etc.

That sounds cool, except why not do 1 monkey (simisear, pour, or sage), 1 elephant (donphan), 1 lion (luxray), 1 clown/mime (mr.mime), 1 girl on silks (mienshao), 1 balloon (drifblim), and 1 ringmaster (the gym leader)?

Wow those all sound pretty good and the farm gym one to and yes a circus theme would be cool and it would probably also have mime jr. and phanapy and also i would think the ballon would be Drifloon instead

Maybe for the trainers that you battle along the way to the leader?

i got an idea for a 0-gravity theme where you can walk on walls ,the team would be lunatone,solrock,gardevoir,umbreon,etc.
