Pokemon What if Pokemon Gyms Had Two Types?

RE: New Pokemon Gym Types

I want a better water gym. The ones up to and after Wallace / Juan were total pushovers.

RE: New Pokemon Gym Types

The only Water Gym I can even remember was Misty's because her Starmie was a pimp.

RE: New Pokemon Gym Types

True. But it was just terrible... Misty sucked minus that cheap X-Attack trick, Chuck only had one water type in the first place, Wallace was the true pimp of the water types in my opinion. He was just so good. Wake was half fighting so I dont even count him as a water leader. Does Gen 5 even have a water leader? And Im unsure of Marlon as of yet.

RE: New Pokemon Gym Types

One thing that would make a water gym hard would be eliminating your ability to use electric and grass Pokemon, but that isn't likely to happen.

RE: New Pokemon Gym Types

Or make it more multi-type waters. Like Seismitoad and Electross. Or... Jetillicent... Some hard to beat multi-types. I WANT A CHALLENGE

RE: New Pokemon Gym Types

Point taken, but that's partially why this thread exists: to consider what themes could be done to make gyms a challenge beyond just use of set Pokemon types.

RE: New Pokemon Gym Types

Okay. Then perhaps an actual mixed type gym. Like... You get the point. Covering most types in that team.

He doesn't have any fighting types, though (aside from the PWT where he has a Poliwrath in the Water Type Expert tournament).

Well there's Cress, but he's not really much of a Water type gym leader. But I wouldn't be so quick to judge Marlon, he's 8th in BW2 for a reason. He has a lot of bulky Water types, and could end up very challenging.

RE: New Pokemon Gym Types

I wasn't sure about Wake. I haven't played D/P in forever. He just had the wrestler theme so I kinda assumed... and about Marlon, I know. That's why I said I wasn't sure. His team consists of a level 49 Carracosta, a level 49 Wailord, and a level 51 Jellicent. You tell me. Worth a challenge or not?

Looks like it, yeah. All of them have a crapton of HP and/or Defense (although Carracosta knows Shell Smash so that may work to your advantage), they all know Scald, which means they can effectively stall you if they get a burn in, Carracosta has Sturdy which means he'll be able to get in at least one hit on you, Waillord knows Bounce for Grass type coverage, Jellicent knows Recover and holds a Sitrus Berry, so it can stall even more, it also knows Brine so if it survives whatever you throw at it, it'll hit you back pretty hard.

RE: New Pokemon Gym Types

i just got another gym type idea!
would an emotion theme be okay?

it would have these:
castform(sun)
castform(rain)
ralts/kirlia/gardevoir

RE: New Pokemon Gym Types

I'd like to see a tropical gym. IT could be a combination of grass and water types.

Grass types like Bellosom, Tropius, Ludicolo
Water types: Vaporeon, Starmie, Lapras, Sharpedo, Floatzel, Azumarill, Milotic, Octillery, the list goes on.

Another idea: Mountain/Volcano team of Fire, Ground, and Rock types like Camperupt, and Rhydon.

OR what if the teams had one type but with an extra pokemon that is related but a different type?
For example, a Pyschic Gym Leader with a Ninetales, or one in the desert with Rock types and a Cacturne?

RE: New Pokemon Gym Types

I just thought of another one.

How about a science themed gym?

It would have mainly Electric, Steel, Poison, and maybe Psychic types but also stuff like Porygon.

I like that. It could be set in a lab, or a slightly run-down one, with broken machinery.

RE: New Pokemon Gym Types

The Copycat's gym:
obviously the last one because it's difficult to beat this.

Level 53 Mr. Mime
Level 49 Ditto
Level 50 Ditto
Level 51 Ditto
Level 52 Ditto or Sudowoodo or something else

Good theme, bad selection. Needs more variety. Maybe if you threw in Electrode and Amoongus?

Mr. Mime
Sudowoodo
Electrode
Amoonguss
Ditto (Imposter)

This might be a better set up.

RE: New Pokemon Gym Types

I think locale-based decks would be better than type-based, then it's not just a matter of type matchup. Ex. a beach city with Eelektross, Kingler, Sandile, Gyarados or something like that.
