What is the most satisfying game you've ever played?

SSX (2000.) Simply endless entertainment. I wanted more and bought Tricky, but the copy i got was a dud. Buying another copy soon.

not even kidding

the combat is so good because the hits are probably some of the most satisfying that exist in a video game

the environment also is very destructible and it reacts to you very well

best game ever? no

most satisfying? yes

EDIT apparently i think of different things than other people when i hear the word "satisfying"

I don't think it's fair to see a couple boss fights ruined the whole game. I definitely don't think it's perfect, but satisfying wise, the game is pretty much hands down just because of the significance of the release.

dmaster out.

I really had a love-hate relationship with the game. when it was good, it was really good (Ancient Cistern, for example). but when it was bad, it was really bad (Imprisoned). I almost didn't finish the game because the last quarter of it was so tedious. Nintendo's been making Zelda games for so long, I expect them to not make terrible game design decisions like they did.

I will say, though, that the combat was some of the best in any game I've ever played, especially the fights against Screvo and Ghirahim, and some of the dungeon design was creative (I mentioned the Ancient Cistern, and once I figured it out I loved the Sky Keep).

I've gotten years of mileage out of Team Fortress, Team Fortress 2, and Sim City 4.

First off is Cave Story.

Most of my friends have probably heard this whole discussion a MILLION times, but I can't say there was anything wrong with the game. The story could end in 3 ways. The first ending is just the short ending. The real ending is quite challenging, but nothing impossible. The secret ending is just downright hard, but it's bonus content, so you try and finish it! Even if you finish the last ending, you can do it on time attack mode so that you get a somewhat alternate ending. I think it's just an alternate end credits or something like that, not sure.

There's also a kind of 3 starter mechanic, where you can choose to upgrade your first weapon later on. There is an obvious best choice, but should you choose the best one, you're gonna start over later and finish the game with the other weapon, and then the other weapon. Since the game has 3 different files, this can be easily done! In Pokemon, how are you gonna get the other starters without restarting your play through? Waste your money for a new game.

This is my favorite video game of all time, period. But I won't go into too much detail, play it yourself, it's the best 10 dollars I've ever spent on entertainment. Onto the next game!

Spirit Tracks

Ok, to be totally honest, I LOVE Zelda and all, but I've always hated the fact that you 100% this series just to 100% it. There's no cool trainer card, or alternate costumes, or stars next to your name. But I felt like this game had so many great parts about it that it didn't really matter. I loved the music, I loved the characters, I lived the gameplay, I loved the plot...and best of all, Zelda gets an amazingly cool role as a playable character! I felt the bond between Zelda and Link wasn't a cheesey Disney movie.

Skyward Sword

Obvious

Four Swords (downloadable version)

This was one of the best Zelda games of all time. It had great multiplayer, a retro stage, difficulty that kept me busy, and it was overall different from most Zelda games. I. Like. Change.

Brawl:

I probably have the longest play time on this game than anything else. This is like a mini arcade. You can do way too much on this game, and everything is just plain fun. It's kind of like an MMO fighter, as CRAZY as it sounds. But the amount of content feels similar.

Mario Kart 7:

I cannot explain the joy I got out of this game

Listing because lazy:

-LoZ Wind Waker
-LoZ Skyward Sword
-SSBB (The replay value is absolutely amazing)
-MK Wii (See above)
-Kid Icarus: Uprising

Kingdom Hearts II
Star Wars Battlefront II
Minecraft
Pokemon Platinum

I LOVE YOU

"Satisfying" could have a few different definitions for me, but there are a few games that I just can't leave off the list:

-Star Wars The Force Unleashed
-Jak and Daxter
-Bioshock 2
-Fallout 3
-Megaman X4

I can post reasons why, if anyone's interested.

The World Ends With You (2008) for NDS

I personally love everything about this game. The game’s unique battle system looks confusing at 1st; you control two characters at once using the stylist and control pad (for lefties the XYBA). But it’s really fun and easy! Also, the story in this game is one of the best I’ve ever seen. It’s AMAZING. I find all the characters to be loveable. Another thing I found unique to the game was the fact that the game encourages you to take a break, because you’ll still get EXP points while the game is inactive. The most stratifying thing for this game is its uniqueness and the lasting value. I’ve had the game for a really long time now, and I continue to play it.

Alan Wake would make top 3 of my list for satisfaction. First you are given a torch to blast away the darkness, then a good ol' double barrel shotgun to knock em off their feet. They're logical tools of processing, not guns.
Also to end every chapter you have that amazing soundtrack by Poets of the Fall. War, Poet and the Muse and Child of Elder God are songs I listen to daily.
That part where you fight all those Taken on the Old Gods of Asgard stage has to be one of my favorite moments in gaming, blasting down Taken while amazing rock is playing in the background? Alan and Barry cracking hilarious short conversations? Unbelievably satisfying.

I agree with safariblade - Battlefront 2 is one of the best shooters I have ever played. They just don't make those kinda games anymore. They simply don't. Days wasted with friends on Galactic (Conquer mode? I forget)

Project Zero, surprisingly, is incredibly satisfying. The series is SO well designed, SO underrated and treats the horror genre of games with the respect it deserves. As with Silent Hill 1,2 and 3 and the first Condemned. The action horror genre used to have such great games. Now all we have is Dead Space, the last of the great horror games. Ironically another satisfying game also.

Megaman 9 makes the list. I never get bored of this game. I never lose interest. Well designed, beautiful music, great throwback to the classics. Despite months of playtime I could sit back and play this any day and still feel that satisfaction of sniping those Metbots.

Pheonix Wright. The entire first game and the last case of the second. Anyone who has played these (and I know a lot of you have) will know what I mean. That pursuit theme. It's probably the first time I have ever got goosebumps in what is essentially a graphic novel.

Bayonetta (Slash Slash Slash HAIR KICK)
Vanquish (Those awesome finishing moves and slow motion)
Mass Effect (As a series, magnificent.)
No More Heroes (Both games offer immense beam katana action and chicks with small skirts and bad attitudes.)

I wouldn't honestly call The World Ends With You satisfying. Well, story-wise, I guess, especially with the post-game content, but gameplay-wise I wouldn't really call it satisfying at all; the dual screen combat was a great idea but doesn't seem completely fleshed out, and to me the sounds and feels of hits (Neku's especially) are anything but satisfying.

I love it, it's a great game, but "satisfying" is not the first word that jumps into my head to describe it.

@Delta, Galactic Conquest.

I actually liked Vanquish a lot too, although I don't see much praise for it online. And I'd obviously put Mass Effect in my list, but that ending was anything but satisfying. Still an excellent series, though.

nope, I disagree to an extreme degree. I absolutely loved the combat. maybe you didn't use the right pins ;D

From what I have played recently:

Pikmin 2 is such a fun game. I love everything about the game, but Gattling Groinks (Grr!). The music is great, I even hum to it occasionally. I like to fight the bosses, and I specially like the final boss. I fight it over and over and over. If I ever get a Wii U, I will happily get Pikmin 3.

Well, yes that´s all. I´m thinking about getting the Mother 3 Fan-Made translation.

Kingdom Hearts. Ohhhh yeah. The music. The themes. I love the game sososo much! It was the longest game I've ever played, (because the only games I've ever played before that one were only Pokemon-related), so when I defeated Ansem I was like BOOM! And the ending made me tear up just a little. Not gonna lie. Working on KHII now. :3

You are my new best friend. Both Pikmins are absolutely amazing, being the perfect blend of fun, charm, and difficulty, all capped off by an amazing sound track. The entire game is so different and unique from anything else I have ever played that I can truly say it is my favourite series.

I say Legend of Zelda games where good. I'm not a major gamer so I don't have much to compare too, but I have to say Twilight Princess is my all-time favorite right now. Then Ocarina of Time. Next on the list is Final Fantasy games. I love games that have a huge storyline and at least halfway decent gameplay.

Do they have Pikmin on 3DS? And has anybody played Kid Icarus for the 3DS and tell me if it's good?

You would love Tales of Graces ƒ! The storyline is huge and it's more than halfway decent! The battle system takes some getting used to at first but then once you figure it out you'll have a great time.

I assume you mean Kid Icarus Uprising? If so, I loved it, especially all the references to older games and how its been 20 years since the last game! XD I would describe the game as a 3rd person shooter with comedy. Also, there is no Pikmin on the 3DS.
