XY What would you like to see in the post game?

I'm talking about the size and details of the regions. Also, Unova's linearity has more to do with the way the game is designed than it does the region itself.

That not necessarily a bad thing. One straight path makes the game a lot simpler and less complex and repetitive, mostly for younger players. And backtracking can also make things repetitive.

By modern standards, yes it is. Or at least Central Kanto (in particular, the area containing Saffron City, Cerulean City, Lavender Town, Celadon City, Vermillion City, and Rt. 5-8) where you have 5 cities (4 of which have gyms) all one short route away from each other.

After looking at the map, I can see that now, but the game gave you a direct route through context. It yold you little hints where the next event is, directions to the next gym, etc.

It's still related. Unova's linearity doesn't affect its size, true, but the streamlined design does detract from the detail of the region in some ways. And the clustered cities and routes make the region feel much smaller.

Backtracking isn't really repetitive if done right, because you're exploring familiar areas in new ways (usually as the result of obtaining a new skill or item in the game).

I never said Kanto was linear, but I did say it was clustered. A lot of the areas are fairly small and close together.

Also, I'm glad you brought up hints, because that's exactly why making the region linear is unnecessary. If you have someone constantly telling you where to go next (which you do in both 5th gen games), then having the region do it for you is redundant.

My wish list:

> A level
> A much more expansive GTS. What I really want is the ability to see more than eight players a time and shuffle them without changing my search criteria.

This isn't postgame per se but I'm far too lazy to see if this would be better suited anywhere else.

Also, why do we have to wish for things in the postgame? "Boy, you know what I'd like? To not be able to do this until I'm 30 hours in." I cba to read every post in this thread, but... has anyone said anything decent other than "LOL VISIT OTHER REGIONS" since that's like the most unoriginal answer in the history of mankind

I honestly can't think of something I would actually want to wait until I was done with the game to do.

Most of the suggestions are either that or Battle Frontier type stuff.

a) make region B have less than 8 gym leaders and have their E4 use level 80-100s

Your Pokemon would still end up overleveled then.

I'm curious. When you fight an enemey with Pokémon on level 100, how can your monsters be overleveled?

When you mean with "other" "old regions", it wasn't this often in the posts. Mainly Battle Frontier/PWT type things, post-game storylines, explore more areas, see legendaries... Guess that's all.

Because your Pokemon would realistically need to be at or near Lv. 100 to defeat them.

In this case, I'm using "overleveled" in comparison to the level you typically end up at in the end of an average Pokemon game, not in comparison to your opponent. Thing is, reaching Lv. 100 is a major accomplishment, being able to reach it through the actual storyline cheapens that feeling.
