Why do people hate on droppers?

I've never dropped if I was going to be in top-cut, and I went to states and got 5th out of 102, where Fulop Actually played top cut and got knocked out in top 16, where Ilost to a Uber Speed champ in top 8 (I play luxchomp and was able to get One game off even With his machamps set up). I have Dropped only if I knew I wasn't going to make top cut as my ride (my mom) doesn't like to stay if there's no possibility of me making top cut, and I kind of have to respect her wishes or won't be able to go to tournaments anymore. I hope that clarifies any statements I may have made previously

How would you get a record worth preserving without working hard in the first place? I'm sure rich people don't "work hard" to keep making money, they just make sure they have a steady supply once they've earned what they'd like. Same with the ratings. Once people think their rating is high enough to get a world's invite, they make sure their rating stays on target or goes up.

My tiebreakers got WRECKED by drops; my provincials finish might have actually been _better_ if my high rated opponents didn't drop, as I ended up around the middle of the 4-3s instead of near the top. They really ought to adopt a more serious rating system.

Also, crm, that's about right - they get a free in from somewhere then just hold their rating. I know players like that, and there are times where I wonder just what goes on behind the scenes in competitive pokemon...more than is currently being talked about, that's for sure.
