Everyone seems to think that Charizard* doesn't have potential until basic Darkness Energy is released. Aside from being searchable through a few things (Like castaway) or attachable through something (such as Flygon's Delta Support), there are TONS of things to count as Darkness anymore. With the usual Darkness now, Dark Metal, and Delta Rainbow Energy, you can have 12 energy between all of those right now. Many people play Mag/Trode to save the Darkness on their Pokemon to use on another to gain the damage bonus, so if you have 4 of those you have 16 which is already over the usual mimimum. Between each Holon Pokemon you can have 12 Dark Energy, 2 from each. Regular Rainbow can count as dark, and then there's, though unusuable, Multi Energy. For Evolved there's DRE and Scramble. If you wanted, you could have up to 60 Energies counting as Darkness on a single Pokemon under the most perfect circumstances, and 64 Dark Energies total in play. It's unplayable and dumb, but it can happen.
I really don't think there's a lack of Darkness Energy in the current format, so why does everyone think Charizard has a shot later? If he was playable, you'd see it now, and I honestly think he isn't. I could see him maybe in a Mew EX (LM) deck. Like if there's ever a good deck that needs to have Mew out there stacked with tons of energy, and then when you have the chance put Charizard on the bench for some quick high damage. I don't see him being too popular though.
