I've seen coments on the internet about R/S/E and quite alot of people seem to dislike it and I am not so sure why. I myself like it quite alot, I loved diving plus it also introduced contests, double battles and much more. I would like to see other people's opinion on the matter and I would like to see some debating.

I honestly didn't really like it. The pokemon just seemed to flat for me. I'm pretty sure that like half of them always have their eyes closed.

What do you mean 'flat'?

I think there has just been increasing levels of hatred for the new Pokemon with each generation after G/S/C.

No, it's just that most of the pokemon had relatively similar designs, it just got a little tiresome.

I've never felt that way about opinion on it. The third generation is my favorite, and most people I know through Pokemon agree.

I found it okay .It is i think hated cuz after G/S/C some pokemon *cought* erhem looked like digimon e.g. Blaziken

Third gen gets a bad rap for a lot of reasons.

First, it was not related to the first two generations at all. Second gen is generally considered to be the best generation - expectations were high.

Second, when it was learned that they would not be compatible with previous games (which was not something they had any control over), there was huge unrest. This meant that all our awesome Pokemon that we'd raised in GSC and battled in Pokemon Stadium 2 would be stuck there forever.

This translates to the third reason; due to this game not taking place in Kanto or Johto, a big chunk of Pokemon from those regions were missing (186 in total - that's nearly half of the entire 'dex). Needless to say, people were fairly upset.

As mentioned before, some people just don't like the designs. There are always gonna be haters in that regard, no matter how good the story is, so it's kind of a moot point.

i remember when this came out. this was the second pokemon game i owned first being red. i only got emerald though and i got my firswt lvl 100 on there which is now lost when i sold my emerald. but this gen was one of the best for me....mostly because im a sucker for rayquaza :p

I think its mainly because of what PMJ said. and the designs are a lot different from the older pokémon. When I 1st played Sapphire, they looked odd to me but I didn't think they were that bad... In fact, I think gen 3 pokes are better than these new gen 5 pokes...

The designs, as has been said, is probably the main reason. But the sotryline was terrible, there was too much backtracking, and the world was too gimicky (look, now we have a sandstorm! isn't that interesting!)

i myself loved generation 3 the music the graphics LEAFGREEN!!! but about R/S/E again i love the music/graphics and pokemon from there so im all good with gen 3 :p

Sandstorms were really interesting it was a completely new type of weather in the over world. There was not too much backtracking.

I thought it was ok even though it was in 2-d and totally boring

How was it boring? Also R/B/Y and G/S/C were in 2-D amd I am sure you didn't have a problem with that while you were playing them. (If you had played them.)

I "hated" the game at the time for a few reasons but mainly you couldnt transfer pokemon over so was glad they re-relased red n green on the advance so you could fill the pokedex up

I do not hate the 3G, but i didn't played on it as i played on the other generations.

Of course, there is a lot of good ideas in R/S/E, good pokemons concepts, new ingame ideas, but i don't know, i did not feeled those games as i feeled Pokemon Red, Pokemon Crystal or even Pokemon Pearl...

I wish there was an 'I adore absolutely everything about it' option in the poll :<

But another big reason is that by third gen, the fans of the first two gens were growing up  This is probably the reason that underlines all the others.

But I heart third gen and its fantastic Latin-esque, horn-based music, its gorgeous and vibrant colors, its expertly designed region, everything <3
