BW/BW2 Will 5th gen be forgotten?

I doubt it will be forgotten... Each generation has contributed something to the Pokemon games. Either pokemons we keep wanting (like the gen 1 starters) or features (like the ability of transferring pokemon between games) who knows when we are a few generations ahead what will we be using from gen 5? (besides of reshiram, zekrom, zorua and zoroark? xD )
 
Maybe in like 10 years or so. Gen I hasn't been forgotten because it was the FIRST generation. No one will ever forget that.
 
^sadly...i really liked that gen. it brought us an amazing evil team rivalry. each gen brings somthing new to the table. its just that R S E brought the least amount...although it did bring double battles. D P P brought a huge expansiveness, G S C brought the great game play, R B Y was the original. BW brings triple battles and alot of other stuff.
 
Gen III was my favourite too. In fact when Gen IV came out it's content wasn't even enough to appeal to me to hop on the Gen IV bandwagon and that is pretty much why I never played DPPt and don't know wtf is cherrim/mothim.
 
Gen 3 is my favorite for sure. Mudkip was my first game Pokemon. (although I knew pokemon when it first came out with the anime and cards)
 
I believe this generation really does have the potential to be the best. The originality and thought put into some of these Pokemon is quite astounding (in a good way). The new connectivity, graphics overhaul, region, gameplay... it's all incredible.

Generation 3 has always been my favorite, and while it most likely will retain that title even after I lay my hands on Pokemon White, this generation has the potential to run a close second.

I think these games deserve all of the hype.
 
No offense but I'm seriously getting sick of all the Black & White hate, sure it didn't meet to ALL of our expectations but in terms of gameplay, graphics, new TM's, and a slew of new Pokemon (some look pretty bad I'll admit), it still looks like it could do just as good as Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum If not better.

Maybe If most of the new Pokemon weren't poorly designed in terms of their looks people might have shed a better light on it, that's where I'm hearing the most complaints about Generation V. EV Training is going to be hard so again that takes the easy route from grinding my Pokemon to Lv. 100... -___-
 
RSE will not be forgotten by me, I mean, that's when people my age(teenagers) were introduced to pokemon. BW for my though, seeing how the pokemons are doing for this gen, I don't know.
 
I think that RSE has been overshadowed by LG/FR remakes. These were just a massive hit considering the people who bought the original just had to buy these remakes. Not to mention it was the perfect "new start" for the naughties to introduce a new generation of kids. I thought ruby was bad so I traded it for Pokemon Blue (not kidding). However now that I have aged about 6 years, I really want to play emerald, I never completed the third generation.

I doubt that RSE are going to be re-made, if they do it would be fantastic, but the only reason why RB and GS were remade is because of it's old graphics, because RSE are the same graphics as FR/LG I doubt it will be re-made. But if they made HG/SS there will be no reason to make a Magma/Aqua version respectively.

In my personal opinion, I believe that 5th gen won't be forgotten, IF the RS remade. Yes, there are a lot of complaints about 5th gens mistakes and faults however if they are improved then the only thing people will have refference to the Pokemon is the genration itself. (If that makes sense)
Basically - If the remake improves every aspect then I belive the genration will be forgotten.
Just like FR/LG with RSE.
 
Yes, but with the arrival of Emerald which had moving sprites and a newly added battle frontier, many people went back to the Hoenn region.
 
True enough but I believe it was because of LG/FR improvements and faults is the reason why Emerald turned out as the better and latter.
 
I found that Pokemon R/S/E were the worst games, in my opinion because it wasn't that great of a region. The only thing I liked in it was the Battle Frontier. I liked some of the Pokemon from it, but not that much. My favorite games were the original G/S because it was just so great. I doubt that the 5th generation will be forgotten with all the advancements it is bringing in suck as the Wonder Launcher, moving sprites, 3-D gameplay, and much, much more. I feel it is getting a lot of hype, and I am part of that hype, but I think that it will become one of the Top 3 games of all Pokemon.
 
With the way things are looking for Black & White now,I'd have to say no.5th generation actually (Finally) brought something new to the table,granted somethings will be forgotten (Munna/Musharna),but the generation itself will leave a lasting mark.
 
^dont you need them to get to the dream world....thus they cant be forgotten because...well most people will use the dream world
 
^It's more so on what substance the pokemon has,or in other words,what impact would this pokemon have on the metagame.If it doesn't see much action it tends to become ''forgotten'' in the sense that no one uses it.

But I will agree with you on the notion of the Dream World.
 
5th gen won't be easy to forget for competitive players since the VGC this year is 5th gen only. It's odd that Nintendo decided to make that decision from a player's standpoint, yes, but from their point of view any player interesting in remaining competitive has no choice but to purchase a 5th gen cartridge.

From the standpoint of the casual player who plays the game strictly for the storymode aspects though, Black and White look to be dismally forgettable compared to any previous generation. The detail involved in plotlines and the duration of said plotline (as in, how much time you spent before beating the Elite 4) for me peaked with 3rd gen, while 4th gen while only slightly behind that. 5th gen has minimal plotline.

Hopefully that will change for VGC 2012 where players would be able to use Pokemon from previous Generations on their Black/White Cartridge's. They're just going with the whole "start from scratch/new experience" ordeal that the 5th Generation applies to for this year or it could be that they're trying to balance the metagame who knows.

I don't think it's the storyline aspect that in some ways hurts Black and White but the majority of the new Pokemon designs themselves. You would think that Game Freak could've done better on that department but you get what you get. There are some designs that are pretty good but the majority of the new Unova Region Pokemon are kinda meh. It's basically just old designs being re-hashed or recycled instead of coming up with something creative, new, or even unique.
 
True, one quarter of the way it was all just surfing around the east side of the place, but there was also pokemon contests, and secret bases, to me it just can't be forgotten cause Emerald was my most favorite game and it's storyline just seems to be better than DPP. The reason why it is most likely to be forgotten by some people is because it's in the middle. People pay attention to the first(RBGY), and the ultimate(DPP), but they usually don't pay attention to the middle, what saved GSC? For me it's because of the fact that it's so expansive, you can unlock the kanto region after the Johto League. Also another fact is that DPP pretty much upgraded moat of the features originally found in RBE.
And also let's not forget the strength of the version mascots. In the common sense of a human being why would you get small secret base when in DPP there is a whole underground city all for yourself? Why compete for simple pokemon contests when you can compete for SUPER contests? Why would catch the gods of the Earth when you can catch the gods of the Universe? To me a remake would be a great chance for RBE to get back some of it's lost reputation during the Gen 4 era.
