Worst video games of all time!

This thread is basically designed to allow you guys to vent about the worst games you've ever played. I know this may become a flame fest, so here are some rules. If you break them, there will be consequences.
1. If someone lists a game you like, don't diss them. People have opinions.
2. Please use proper grammar and list examples as to why the game is bad.
3. Personal experiences please! Plagiarism, if caught, will not be tolerated.
4. Please use this template:
Console:
Game:
Reasons:
5. You can list more than one game, just don't go overboard.
Mine would have to be:
Console: NES
Game: Action 52
Reasons: I bought an NES for pretty cheap and this game came with it. 52 games, all on one cartridge? Awesome! So, I put it in, and I'm startled. EVERY GAME IS HORRIBLE. Some are buggy, some are clones of each other, and some of the games just crash. The graphics are despicable, with a putrid green in pretty much every game, and they all look like they took an hour to make. My bonfire needed fueling though, so I was happy to toss this horrible wreck in.

Console: n64
Game: vigilante 8
Reasons: if I had a dollar for every second I found myself able to drive straight in this game in the 4 hours I played it, I would still have $0.

Console: Atari 2600
Game: ET: The Extra Terrestrial
Reasons: The vast majority of video games based on movies are completely terrible. ET just makes me tremble even more at even hearing about video games made from movies. Aside from no instructions and terrible animations (even for its time), ET isn't even able to be completed - it's that terrible. Less than 40% of all the ET cartridges sold and was a major reason Atari got bankrupt. ET was such a financial fluke that MILLIONS of ET cartridges were dumped in a New Mexico landfill where they were crushed, buried, and covered with cement.

Not saying it's not true, but that always puzzled me. Was it really that difficult to take the cartridges and reuse them for materials?

Console: PS2
Game: Chaos Wars
Reasons: This game is so hilariously bad that it's amazingly fun to play just for the reason that makes it so bad; the voice acting. Yes, you've heard of bad voice acting before, but if you think you've seen it all, you haven't seen Chaos Wars. The CEO of the company that handled Chaos Wars overseas--it's a crossover JRPG--had his family members dub the game as opposed to having professionals dub it. A few of the characters got name changes, even though localized names were clearly set into stone in America (I feel sorry for you, fans of Shadow Hearts). It's worse than Resident Evil 1, it's worse than Enchanted Arms, it's worse than Arc Rise Fantasia.

voice acting alone doesn't make a game bad, even with the horrendous voices I still managed to finish Arc Rise Fantasia and enjoy it.

I'm going to go with Sonic 2006 for the PS3/360. it's...it's painful, really. a glitchy, unfinished mess of a game with last-gen graphics, a million bugs, some of the worst controls I've ever seen in any game, ever...add to that a truly stupid plot involving time travel that makes no sense and doesn't go anywhere (I guess you have to hurry to accomplish things in the past? or the future? even though you can go to whenever you want, it's time travel...ASDF). the new characters - Elise and Mephiles - are two of the worst in the Sonic series (and this is the series that gave us Big the Cat). exactly two good things have come out of this game - the fantastic soundtrack (for some bizarre reason) and this Let's Play, possibly the greatest LP ever recorded.

E.T seriously crashed to entire video game industry. It was THAT BAD.

And then Miyamoto happened...even if you do dislike Nintendo, Miyamoto arguably saved the video game industry. You can't hate a guy for that, can you?

Console: XBox
Game: Halo
Reasons: Brought first person shooters to the masses off of a PC format that was dumbed down and non-impressive by any standards of that day, least for Xbox. Made a lot of money, but contributed nothing towards innovation or creativity in the genre.

Console: Playstation 2
Game: Final Fantasy 10
Reasons: Praised for it's everything at the time, but it was all just cutscenes, walk around, cutscene, walk around, fight, cutscene, fight, talk, walk around, cutscene -there was no freedom in the game, just strictly go from point A to point B in a nice 3D world that was only there to tease you into thinking something meaningful was around the corner. You might say that all RPGs are like that, but that isn't really true -they offer a good non-linear gameplay experience.

Console: PC
Game: Crime City
Reasons: It crashed all the 386 computers in my house.

As much as I despise the FPS genre, I don't think you can blame Halo for what FPS games have become.

Sure, it can share the blame with Counter-Strike -no problem.

^I disagree with your original post for a couple of different reasons, Medic, but I'll just continue with my game.

Console: PS2
Game: Superman Returns
Reasons: This game itself isn't the worst, but Superman has one of the most disappointing Video Game franchises of all time. If Warner Bros/DC put half of the effort in a Superman game that they put in Arkham Asylum/City, they might come up with something presentable. The controls and graphics for each game have been consistently terrible, and this game was the most recent, which is my reason for listing it as the worst.

Yo ShadowLugia, I'm real happy for ya and I'mma let ya finish, but Superman N64 was the worst Superman AND video games of all time.

No seriously, I implore everyone to go look at Superman 64. I actually bought this game when it game out. Needless to say, I spent most of my day raging at the controls and unrealistic goals. Not as bad as scumbag E.T. and crashing the video game industry, but still up there.

Actually, I'm a Nintendo fanboy, and I own pretty much every console they've released. Action 52 was an unlicensed NES game that just sucked.

Flying through rings, flying through rings, flying through rings. Man that game was horrible.

But at the same time, FPS games can be experiences. Half Life anyone? Bioshock? You can't hate a genre that's so widespread for it's most popular games. Especially a genre that has quite a lot of classic games under its belt. I do agree that the "Military, FIGHT! USA!" type games are very overused, but some FPS can be extremely good.

We've all seen and heard of people talking about E.T., Superman 64, Action 52, and other games well-known for being bad. Come ooooooon, let's see some truly bad games that didn't make it on those lists because people were crying over E.T. and the CD-i games.

Yeah -criticize something that the Angry Videogame Nerd didn't make you aware of in the first place.

Because you totally know where I found out about those games.
Putting that sarcasm and snap of yours aside, that was the entire point of my post...

Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party for the DS should be called Rayman Torturing Rabbids Electric Chair. It is torture. Pain. Beyond horrible. Even if you paid me $10 for playing an hour, I could stand it max an hour.
So yeah, I played it just for like 15 minutes. But based on that...

I wasn't being sarcastic -I never thought you implied AVGN at all.

This.

Sonic 06 is unforgivable to me not just because it's a bad game, but because it totally tarnishes a series that I otherwise love.

I can look at stuff like Superman 64 and Action 52 and enjoy them for how hilariously atrocious they are. But in my opinion, a truly bad game strikes you on a personal level. I'm a guy who grew up with Sonic, it was a huge part of my childhood. Seeing him in such a terribly designed, unfinished and at points disturbing game (a human falls in love with Sonic) is just really saddening.

Sonic 06 is basically what you'd get if you had a magical machine that could convert fanfics into games.
