XY4 Phantom Gate + Hyper Metal Chain Deck Coming to Japan in September! [6/23]

Im really surprised nobody else has mentioned this but…

I personally hope that this set will introduce Ghost type to the TCG. I really don't like them being portrayed as Psychic/ Dark because the types are so different. After all, they have been adding new types recently (Fairy and Dragon).
And when they added Dragon types what was the set called? It was Dragons Exalted. So they named the set after the new type. Well look at the name of this set, Phantom Gate. That doesn't sound like a Psychic type set to me, it sounds like Ghost Type!
So for the cards in this set I'm hoping for:
(S) represents ghost types
Gengar EX (S)
M-Gengar EX (S)
Banette EX (S)
M-Banette EX (S)
Sableye EX (S)
M-Sableye EX (S)
Aegislash EX (S) or (M)
Spiritomb EX (S)
Raichu EX (L)
Wigglytuff EX (Y) (It has to happen)

Obviously 10 EXs is a bit much, but that's just a list of what I'm looking for. 3 Mega-Evolutions is probably unlikely, so pick between Banette and Sableye. I think M-Sableye EX is probably likely since OR/AS will be out once this set releases.

Perhaps this is a dual set? I may be reading too much into this, but "Phantom Gate" makes me think of ghost and steel types, so maybe this set will feature both the psychic and metal types? Hence the Aegislash EX. I don't know though, just guessing around.

Part of me would love Ghost types in the TCG, but more of me would hate it. For having 11 types, the TCG is relatively balanced (9 types requiring their own Energy, 1 able to utilize any kind of Energy, and another having very specific dual Energy requirements)...adding Ghost might affect the TCG in a negative way. Plus, as when Dragon was added to the TCG, I'd have way too many cards in Neo Redux to update! If there was to be a split in the TCG, I'd want it to be a Rock/Ground split from Fighting...but that's beside the point.

I'm betting Ghosts will keep their Psychic TCG typing in Phantom Gate.

You're probably right, as it is probably unlikely that they will add another type, but I just find the name phantom gate to be very odd for a psychic set. However, I have to say that I disagree with it messing up the type matchups. It would open up new weaknesses, and pokemon such as spiritomb and sableye would have no weakness, and be good counters for M-Mewtwo x and y when they come out, as I'm pretty sure that they will be extremely overpowered. But I do agree with the rock/ground split from fighting. Having a rock type that covers rock and ground would be nice, but having a rock and a ground type would be too much

Yeah, forget about about Psychic-type Mega, as given the lastest sets, they don't like to repeat types for Megas on the same set... I'd would say M Gardevoir too, but I also think it fits a fairy-themed set better... And no, it's not because it's a Hoenn Pokémon... Why the hell would they save all Hoenn Megas for ORAS? It seems you«re forgetting ORAS is already introducing more Megas, so, we may have a Hoenn Mega is this set...
What is really bugging me is the Metal Deck! Why Dialga-EX all of a sudden? No problem with Dialga, but it's weird to have another Dialga and no signs of Palkia and Giratina...
Also, if they continue what they did in Rising/Furious Fist/s, there's gonna be a special psychic energy and maybe one of another type... But what about a special Fire-type energy? They did Wild Blaze and there was no special Fire energy! What the hell?!

Great opinon, but figures that a Giratina fan would complain about Dialga...

BTW...

Delta Emerald's trademark was filed a little different than Rising Fist and Phantom Gate's were, but there's a realistic chance it's the next set.

My Predictions:
6 EX's-3 Megas
EXs:
Gengar (Psychic)
Gardevoir (Fairy)
Mawhile (Fairy)
Aegislash (Metal)
Rotom (Electric)
Wailord (Water)

Megas:
M Gengar
M Gardevoir
M Mawhile (now Metal type)

I think it would be cool, like charizard, if there was a trend of pokemon M evolving into a different type. That's why, even though its not in Rising Fist, I think it could happen again. And it definitely will with Mewtwo EX (psychic and fighting) when that gets released.
It seems like pokemon is going away from EXs being Legendaries though. Flashfire and Rising Fist have no legendary pokemon as EXs (XY had Xerneas/Yveltal). I wouldn't be surprised if TCPI threw in a few of them here and there, especially when OR/AS comes out. That's why I think Rotom will appear in the set. Just like wailord, another odd edition, who was an older EX, but I think it would be cool to see a non-mega EX have 200-230 HP.
Edit: Also there is a major lack of fairy EXs, so I don't doubt seeing at least one if not 2-3 with a mega (AKA my predictions) in this set.

Well, I can't see Ghost as a new type, but I DO see it re-typed a la Poison when it got re-typed to Psychic instead of Grass. Let's paint the picture:

-Ghost types in the VG now become Dark-type in the TCG.
-Ghosts get a [D] Weakness, which covers both their Dark and Ghost type Weakness; and a [F] or [C] Resistance.
-Psychics in the VG get a [D] Weakness, for the same reason as Ghosts.
-Poison types stay Psychic-type with a [P] Weakness, being only weak to true Psychics or other Poisons.

Sure, this would make Dark types the most OP ones, but it could happen...

Seems like I need a staff job as well for all of these hints that show up ;).

I doubt Ghost would become their own type, though I suppose we could all be wrong.

Maybe Palkia will be in the actual set, I mean all types will be represented, right...it usually is.

Again pushing for ghost types of the Aegislash line.

Well, Staffing wouldn't have helped that much, at least I was as surprised as you and Reggie were! :p

^ I just started talking to you two days ago. XD

I'm Staffed since about 2 months ago, so I sorta have a point. :p That's just because Rising Fist was already revealed, but that's not the point. XD

I'll toss in my two cents about the new set thus far.

First off, I doubt that we're going to get a new Ghost-type card. Honestly, I'd love it if it(and all the other types) had their own card, but I just don't see it happening.

As far as Gengar being the mascot goes, I like it. I figured that it would be the mascot of a set sooner or later, since it is fairly popular. I'm not entirely sure what other Mega could be included in this set. I think it will be a Mega of a type we haven't had yet in the TCG, so Fairy, Metal, Darkness or Lightning. However, the accompanying deck features Pokémon of the Metal type, so it may be unlikely we'll get more Metal EXs.

Fairy candidates: Gardevoir and Mawile. I personally could see either or these two appearing in this set, but Mawile seems a more likely candidate for Metal.

Metal candidates: Scizor, Aggron, and Mawile. Honestly, I feel that any of these could appear, but with Aggron being the most likely. In my opinion, Scizor seems like a decent mascot for a future set.

Darkness candidates: Houndoom, Gyarados, Tyranitar, and Absol. All of these would be fantastic, but I feel that Absol is the most likely. I feel that Gyarados and Houndoom are more likely to appear in a Team Flare based set(if we ever get one) and that Tyranitar would be a good mascot Pokémon for a set.

Lightning candidates: Ampharos and Manectric. I don't see AMpharos appearing, mainly since it's more than likely to be portrayed as Dragon-type in it's Mega card.

So overall, I feel that the most likely Megas for this set are Aggron, Manectric, Gardevoir, or Absol.

Now, about that deck. I'm really surprised that we're getting another Dialga EX. However, I'm very excited that we'll be getting an Aegislash EX. Unfortunately, this means no Aegislash full art, but I suppose I'll get over it.

We don't even have regular fairy versions for Gardevoir line and Mawile. We should get those first or at the same time.

I think you're forgetting that M Gyarados would most likely be a water type, not a dark type...unless they want to do two of them. There is a chance that Houndoom could also be fire rather than dark, but that is not as likely so Houndoom could be possible.

I actually rather hope that Ampharos gets both electric and dragon. Rather it happens or not...is always in the air.

The thing Aggron, Manetric, Gardevoir, and Absol are all third gen pokemon and could be held back for OR/AS sets. I think M Scizor could be the other one as well, as there is no guarantee that he would ever be a pack mascot at least for Japan.

You're most likely correct about Scizor, since I'm not entirely sure how popular he is in Japan. I know that Manectric, Gardevoir, Absol, and Aggron are all third gen, but that doesn't mean that we can't have a few third gen Megas outside the OR/AS sets. I mean we still have the Hoenn starters , Banette, Sableye, Medicham, Mawile, and the Eon duo.

Personally, I feel that either Manectric or Absol will be the other mega, since there will be a Metal based deck and we probably should get a Fairy line of the Gardevoir line first, like you had mentioned.

I hope we get a powerful Aggron ex/ Mega. One of my favorite Gen III's. I always loved the Dinosaurish pokemon, Nidoking, Tyranitar, Aggron, Haxorus, just something awesome about them. I also really hope we see a Feraligatr line soon or an ex so we can have a FA

And we don't know if there are other megas to be revealed in OR/AS. Though let's not forget that officially (IIRC) M Latias and M Latios haven't been revealed. And personally I hope M Sceptile gets a grass and a dragon type...after all dragon is still a pretty small group in TCG.

Hey, if some of this is steel based I wonder if we'll get a steel version of Klefki. Personally I love seeing dual type Pokemon get represented both ways (also hoping our Rising Fist gives us the fairy Dedenned that Japan got as a promo when X/Y collection was released to go with the electric Dedenne, and that Pangoro's fighting version that promos in Japan makes it into our american set).

I think X/Y4 should allow the power creep to expand and allow more then 2 megas per set.

I really hope mega gardi gets released, formats w/o gardi suck imo.
