Ash Ketchum's Pokémon

I always wondered why Ash's Pokemon never got their TCG limelight in the West, so I thought I'd do it myself. I've used pictures from the cartoon or the internet, since I have no artistic talent with pen nor mouse. I've given Ash's Pokemon attacks that they know, and I've tried to replicate the anime effects, for example Siesmec toss confusing an opponent, because it just got dropped on its noggin.

1-13 are rare, either fully evolved Pokémon in a 3-stage family, or unevolvable. (And Pikachu.)
14-30 are uncommon, either fully evolved Pokémon in a 2-stage family, or 2nd stage in a 3-stage family.
31-54 are unevolved Pokémon that can evolve.
55 and 56 are Pokémon Prime
57-62 are T/S/S

1 Pikachu

RE: Ash's Pokemon - Fake card set

I'm really liking the stuff here :D As you're new to the game, I think I should give some tips :D

- The Poképower font looks a bit off. You need Gill Sans Condensed Bold, size 25.04, 92% width :p
- Illus bar. This is my pet peeve so sorry if it seems like I'm having a go, but you should credit 'Pokémon Anime' not yourself for the art.
- Dex area. I'm not sure whether this is intentional for the anime feel but you don't need the Pokémon's name and type before the flavour text.
- Holofoil. You need to cut the holosheet where the Pokémon, the holo is only meant to make the background shiny.
- The evo box should use the Ken Sugimori art, not anime art.
- On Charmeleon you forgot to captialise 'Ketchum' :p

I think this is probably one of the best sets of 'first-time' fakes I've seen. Good work my friend.

Thanks for the compliments, I've addressed your points below.
-Poképowers and 'bodies sorted, and so's Charmeleon.
-Dex entries are direct quotes of Ash's Pokédex, so they can stay as they are.
-Holo effect is sorted too.
-I know I should credit "Pokémon Animé" or something like that, but I'm using it like a signature, so that it's identifiable as my creation. Obviously, if someone draws some custom artwork then I'd give them credit, but with anime screenshots I don't think it's of as much concern. I understand your viewpoint though.

Rustled up another 3, the pidgey line:

Pidgey
Pidgeotto
Pidgeot

I've not updated the chars yet, I'm going to try and get a solid decklist with an actual number of cards, so then I can put that on. Same goes for a little expansion icon.

RE: Ash's Pokémon - Fake card set

I'm pretty sure it's a wise idea to mention on the card that's it's official art just to avoid the three-piece suit men wanting you :) If you want to ensure your own credit you can just put a little watermark in the corner or something. I'm really liking the Pidgeot line although what's with the white fuzz around the Evo box? I can't think what would be causing it?

RE: Ash's Pokémon - Fake card set

I like them.
Also Ash never had a Pidgey (only Blue in the Manga sort-of has one), he only had a Pidgeotto/Pidgeot.
As for that, try using the Ken Sugimori art for the evolution icons.

RE: Ash's Pokémon - Fake card set

Ahhh, but if you look at Pidgey, it does in fact say "Wild Pokemon." I'll do the same with Grimer, Hoothoot and Mankey too. ;)

The white fuzz around all the evo boxes is due to the fact that there's no way of doing a perfect circular cut. It all boils down to square pixels. Also, the evo boxes are Sigumori art, they started life as Bulbapedia thumbnails which specifically said that he'd drawn them.

RE: Ash's Pokemon - Fake card set

You misspelled "Seismic Toss." =P Also, for the the text, "Energy", "Defending", and "Burned" should be capitalized.

EDIT: When people refer to Sugimori art, they mean the official artwork. Like the ones that you find in Pokemon Guide Books.

RE: Ash's Pokemon - Fake card set

I didn't know if you knew about these

RE: Ash's Pokemon - Fake card set

Thanks for the sieieisiesmic heads-up, and for the captialisations. I'll upload correct versions soon. You know what everyone missed? Look at the char's weakness. oops.

And yes OMA, I did know about those. Japanese release only, like I mentioned in my original post. And now I release I've missed out Aipom. Curses. There were meant to be 60 cards, but now I'll have to bump the number up...

This is the prototype expansion image, could I ask a kindly passerby to make it not pixel-y, or is here not the place to do so? Regardless, it's Ash's hat.

Anyway, I made more cards:

Caterpie
Metapod
Butterfree

Let me know if you spot any mistakes with these. Thanks!

RE: Ash's Pokemon - Fake card set

I just noticed that you have the weakness and resistance mixed up for the Pidgey family.

RE: Ash's Pokemon - Fake card set

Not bad. I think this will be my inspiration to make some fake cards myself. Maybe I'll work on fake cards for gym leaders.
These are all great aside mini mix ups which have all been sited by other posters here.

RE: Ash's Pokemon - Fake card set

wow YakobTheRed your avatare looks cool and i think shoney ninetales look cool :) and doent ash have a builseil dont know if spelled right{G}{W}{L}{C}{F}{R}{P}{M}{D}

RE: Ash's Pokemon - Fake card set

My major iffy-ness on your cards is how the names of the attacks don't line up with the effects. For example, Butterfree's Whirlwind with the effect of a Baton Pass? What is this, I don't even...

I see what you mean. I'll rejig Pidgeot and Butterfree's attacks. Are there other examples of this discrepancy?

Thanks all. Yes, there are errors, but I'm correcting them behind the scenes. I'll have another couple of Pokes done soon.

RE: Ash's Pokemon - Fake card set

Charmeleon's Bad Attitude would tend to disrupt the opponent rather than act as drawpower.

But other than that, it seems fine.

RE: Ash's Pokemon - Fake card set

ASH NEVER OWNED PIDGEY
lolzzz

EDIT: ok, I see the wild pokemon

Still doesn't help. >_>

RE: Ash's Pokemon - Fake card set

OK, 2 new ones, Krabby and Kingler. Koo-kee koo-kee!

Set number is set at 62 now, I added Aipom and another Trainer/Supporter. No Ambipom, cos Ash never owned it. I didn't count Raticate, Haunter or seaking either.

I've got an expansion logo that I'm happy with and will use on all my cards if y'all approve.

Krabby
Kingler (I know about the HP, it's already been fixed.)

Redid Butterfree too, in response to some criticism about the move set not making sense, ahaha.

http://yakobthered.deviantart.com/ comments always welcomed! :D

RE: Ash's Pokemon - Fake card set

seismic toss is how it's spelled.

i like the cards though! but where is pikachu?

RE: Ash's Pokemon - Fake card set
