XY Your Shiny Hunts

During horde hunting on my X, I've gotten shiny Stunky while hunting for Starly, and I'm currently hunting for shiny Yanma :)

Yes! Just found myself a shiny horsea but unfortunately it has swift swim :/ at least it's a shiny! Now I'm in the hunt for a manectric.
 
I found a shiny Luvdisc while searching for more Heart Scales.

I also found a shiny Vanillite at some stage, presumably during EV Training. I also got a shiny Lucario through Wonder Trade.
 
I've been so lucky with shinies this weekend :D
12 seen and 10 caught, and the two I missed (accidently ran away) I already had :)

Stunky, Yanma, Wingull (missed), Slowpoke, Cubchoo (missed), Smoochum, Spinda, Mime Jr., Gulpin, Psyduck, another Gulpin & Zubat :D

Change that to 13 seen and 11 caugth as I just encountered a shiny Foongus :D

Change that again to 14 and 12 as I cauught a Poliwag sunday night :D

I encouterd a Shiny Parasect :/ I have defeat him because I don`t like it..
Also Encouterd and caught a Shiny Gyrados at a chain of around 30 :p
 
I randomly found a shiny Impish Snubbull w/ Intimidate on Route 8. I was utterly shocked. I still have it, untouched though. I never really like the design. *shrugs*
 
Over the past few days, I have been addicted to hunting for shinies through horde encounters. I haven't been at it for long, but I've encountered eight shiny Pokémon through this method!

- The first shiny Pokémon that I encountered in a horde was a shiny Wingull, now a Pelipper, I only hunted for around fifteen minutes before finding it!
- The second was a shiny Murkrow, I hunted for around two hours, and finally after encountering it, I knocked it out. :( Darn misplays.
- Immediately after KOing the Murkrow, I found a shiny Foongus and caught it!
- Minutes after catching my shiny Amoonguss, I found another shiny Murkrow! Making sure to choose my attacks carefully, I caught what is now a shiny Honchkrow!
- Later that afternoon, I headed towards Route 10 to do some more hunting and caught a shiny Yanma after two hours of non-stop searching!
- Then... later that night, I started hunting in Reflection Cave and caught a shiny Roggenrola!
- Saturday, on Route 11, I caught a shiny Stunky!
- And at 7am on Sunday morning, I caught a pink shiny Vanillite!!!

It has been a dry run since then, but I'm currently hunting in Zubat Roost hoping to catch a shiny Axew, Whismur, or Zubat!

EDIT: Finally just encountered and caught a shiny Whismur! It has green ears! <3
 
Currently hunting for a Perfect Hawlucha. 12 Boxes (Rough estimate, been releasing all the non-perfect ones, might be exaggerating) in and not 1 shiny Hawlucha. Knowing my luck I'll get a shiny but it will have everything but speed and limber, belh.
 
Today, I finally grew the courage and willpower to hunt for a shiny Heatran by soft resetting in Platinum. I'm at 90 soft resets so far! But I see a long road ahead of me... <raises glass> here's to a short and successfull hunt!

You must have like a horseshoe embedded inside you somewhere. I have tried several methods for 2-3 hours and 0. Shiny charm hates me now, got too lucky too fast and I have had nothing but dry runs. Still trying to get a shiny Ledyba after Budew and Combee and still trying to horde shiny a Roggenrola or Carbink. I'll even take a Mime Jr. at this point. Just... something... shine already!

And good luck with the soft resets. That'll be a full odds 1/8192 shiny Heatran. I do hope you don't end up past 70k like one unfortunate soul did when he hunted a shiny Kyurem.

Would that unfortunate soul be you? :( Did you eventually find it?

The 1/8192 odds is definitely rattling my brain right now. I would prefer to soft reset with the shiny charm in B2W2, but I already have access to Heatran in Platinum and don't feel like restarting any of my games. :/
 
Currently hunting Quilladin in Friend Safari, I've already found a Tangela. Also I found my 3rd shiny Psyduck earlier today, while hunting for Hoppip or Roselia. I've also recently gotten another shiny Mime Jr. & Murkrow (Yay :D )

My Shiny Hunt`s from the past days:
I few days ago, I encouterd a Shiny Shellgon in the FS ast 25 Encouters. And 10 minutes ago I encouterd a Shiny Ledyba after 89 encounters. And with Chain Fishing I encouterd a Shiny Relicanth at 24 :/
 
Does anyone have a strategy for shiny hunts? I am still working on the Pokedex and don't have the shiny charm yet and I haven't had much luck in finding anything. How long straight does it typically take people before they find a shiny? Are hordes more effective? j

Nope. You just hunt when you feel like it. And you stop when you're bored. It is literally just you riding your bike back and forth for hours. You can do this when you watch TV or you can Skype someone or listen to music. I like to watch TV while I'm doing it. It can take as fast as the 1st encounter. Or as long as days or months. Some folks believe that the longer you play the better the odds, but really, the game doesn't care about that. It's just gonna keep rolling that random number generator for every encounter. So every battle will have a 1 in 4096 chance to be shiny. Some people are lucky enough to find 2 within minutes of each other... some... spend months and never see one...

Hordes are more effective because the random number is rolled 5x. Meaning you get 4 more chances of one being shiny. Someone on Youtube found 2 shinies in a horde. If that happens, unfortunately you will have to faint one if you hope to catch the other.

Hahaha! No! I got my shiny Kyurem within a fair amount of time. 2-3k soft resets (with the charm of course), within about 6-7 hours (thanks Walking Dead marathon!) However, when I started to get bored and during commercial breaks I would search Youtube for success stories and one turned out to be from a horror story. The dude literally tallied every single soft reset. That's REALLY unlucky. The shortest SR hunt would be Virizion which was about 800 SRs and the longest was I dunno how many resets but it took about 12 hours, or 3 days as I split them up for 4 hours per hunt. That was for Latios in BW2.

I tried to SR for a shiny Lugia in Soulsilver but gave up after a month. :( A friend of mine got hers after 30k, in 3 months. She had a lot of catching up to do on Netflix and took that as an oppurtunity to shiny hunt.

But enough about me, just keep at it, and if you're good or have the dexterity, dual hunt. Horde shiny hunt on X/Y and SR for Heatran on the other. Taping or rubber banding the L and R buttons down makes it easier, so you can just push Select and Start. Apologies if you already knew that.
 
I was MM breeding for a shiny Starly today and on about the 60th egg or so I finally got it. Sadly enough it didn't have a flawless speed IV which was a little saddening but I'm still pretty excited about it.

This was my first intentional shiny Pokemon discovered in Kalos.
I say intentional because I did manage to breed a shiny Shinx a while back but it was a random hatch and ended up with a bad nature and random IVs.

My next goal is to hatch a shiny Fletchling w/ gale wings to assemble the core for my dual bird team. I'm quite a novice to competitive battling but figured I should begin with a team that included Pokemon that I genuinely like, which is flying type.
 
Just MM-bred a shiny Cherubi after 150+ eggs, my second succesfull MM in X & Y. And I got a shiny Quilladin and Wartortle yesterday, so I'm happy :D

And i just hatched a shiny Finneon after 28 eggs! :D
Now the hunt goes on for Phione... :)
 
Hiya! Just updating my shiny Hawlucha count! I got 2 in one batch. One was 6iv MoldBreaker and the other was 31/31/31/x/31/31 Unburden. Very happy right now.
 
I`m still on the road to get a Shiny Turtwig for a member xD (126 Eggs) ..
I`m thinking of changing the eggs:
-Turtwig
-Chimchar
-Tyrunt (Another with GOOD IVs)
-Amaura (Second: Need 4IVs of more)
-Eevee (Trying to get a third 5IV with HA)
-Spritzee (I have X, so..I can`t really chain for it)

And: I caught a Shiny Inkay (now Malamar) in the FS at around 237 encouters.. :D
 
Today, on my fifth day of hunting, I have finally caught my shiny Heatran after 10,961 soft resets! This has been my longest shiny hunt ever but it was well worth it! I think in a day or two, I'll start my hunt for shiny Cresselia, but I'm not sure whether I can sit down and do this for 40+ hours again. :p
