Which is better for catching, in terms of showing off? The classic Poke Ball or an equally-hard-to-use-but-more-valuable Premier Ball? Er, serious question, so send me a profile comment.

If you'd care to hear my opinion, I think catching a very rare or valuable Pokemon in an average Poke Ball would be better in terms of showing off. The Poke Ball is thought of as the lowest and weakest ball, both practically and aesthetically. If you were able to catch a very rare Pokemon, like Rayquaza for example, in a regular Poke Ball, that would be a definite sign of skill and showing off. Hope I could help!

Chariblaze, I know but it honestly doesn't matter to me or shouldn't to anybody else which is why I didn't think anybody would care enough to notice lol. Point is the game is a steal no matter the price haha.

I actually think it's the Premier Ball. Granted, they have an equal chance of success, but the Premier Ball looks a whole lot cooler. You could put 'Luxury Ball' in that section as well if you want, or just any achievement with catching a hard-to-acquire Pokemon with a ball that would have a 1x catch rate against it.

On my very first Sapphire save file, I caught Latias in a Net Ball and Rayquaza in a Premier Ball. (Both of them took forever to catch in that way.) I still remember them to this day. They've both since been sent to other games.
But they still look cool.

I'd say the Pokeball as the symbolism of the Pokeball with regards to all of pokemon is really huge. Premier balls are kind of meh and discrete.

In regards to the question in your signature, I'd say it depends on the Pokemon. For example if it was a legendary with a catch rate of 3, toss a Pokeball and be a BA saying, look at what I caught with 1 Pokeball! But if you want the animation of the Pokemon caught to look cooler (or for a Pokemon where the animation of the ball releasing it would be more fitting), use a Premeir Ball.
