And the thing about this movie is that it has a LOT to be compared to. The mecha genre has a huge fanbase. Shows like Gundam and Evangelion gave this movie a lot to prove, and I think it did just that.
On the contrary, it reminded me that you should enjoy a movie for what it is and not what people say it should be. Many moviegoers these days criticize original action/sci-fi/adventure movies because "it wasn't as good as The Avengers/Star Trek/The Hobbit." This movie was a good change of pace compared to the rehashed blockbuster hits we get each year.
idk I enjoyed the movie because it was something original and fun to watch amidst all of these summer superhero movie knockoffs.
There's not really much humor at all, but if you're not a fan of action movies, then this wouldn't be your cup of hypothetical tea.
