  • Luckygirl0616, that's either a good thing or a bad thing - when you bring home more than you can carry!

...It's the start of a new week, so how are you now? You're out of school, I assume.
Luckygirl0616, that's pretty surprising, actually! Then again, it depends on where they went as well as how good of a deal they got on the flight/hotel/gas &c.
Luckygirl0616, I think I'm pretty much all better now; the cold really isn't inhibiting me right now, so whoo! \o/

Maybe for next year I'll probably book my flight a month or 2 in advance, then it'll cost considerably less. I know a guy out there who can spare me a place to stay - it's just the flight that's tricky. Oh, and spending money for other stuff such as souvenirs :p
Luckygirl0616, I thought about going to Nationals at one point, but...it's going to be way too expensive. Maybe next year, when I can plan more in advance.

Spending summer getting the busywork out of the way for next year? I can see that.

For myself? I think I'm finally over this cold. Nothing really special going on other than summer classes, so same-old same-old...but at least it's not bad!
Luckygirl0616, lack of interest on the part of the playerbase to start a league or something? Or maybe it's not a centralized location? ...I really don't know for sure.
Luckygirl0616, you're in...Washington? I hear Washington is pretty big, but I don't think they have 400 Masters. 400 total, maybe, yeah.

40 miles? Do you live out in a rural place, I take it? since that's quite a long way for a venue.

Ooh, sounds like you had a really fun time at the tourney! That's awesome. I'm glad to hear it!
Luckygirl0616, our States one year had 9 rounds. 258 people. Curse those extra 2 people! I kept losing, so I wanted to see how long it would take me before I would win. I got a bye on round 6 and dropped as a result, 1-5.

And yeah, I suppose that's true. By the time you've been playing for that long, you have connections and friends who will drive you around. Took a few years for me, and I was 17 when I started playing (I didn't get my license until I was 21, because I was so slow).

I definitely hope you'll be good to go tomorrow!
Luckygirl0616, N is one set after Catcher. But unless we are getting a Dark Explorers rotation (which has N and shiny Catcher), we won't be keeping either. ...which is annoying. I want Catcher gone. ;-; But there aren't a lot of snipers in format right now...except Raikou.

I know how you feel about the number of rounds. I'm always "okay, we have 6 rounds at Battle Roads, 6 or 7 at Cities, and 8 at anything bigger. Better bring a pack lunch with me" because I know what to expect. You get the chance to meet a whole lot more people, though, if you don't mind being at a tourney all day.

It's a bit tougher for the newer (15-16yo) Masters, as they still have to be taken there by somebody. It gets easier once you have a driver's license. Well, a little.
...now get better so you don't get flooded with make-up work!
Luckygirl0616, thanks; I will! Tourneys are fun because I get to talk with all the players and such.

Mmm, those late-game Ns. I've lost (or won) many a game because of that. They're always so tricky! I wonder if it'll be sticking around for 1 more rotation.

Ah, you're graduating in 2014 to Masters, eh? It's always a bit of a scary time, I know, due to the massive age range...and difficulty. Sometimes I like to (jokingly) say to some of my friends "Welcome to Masters. We've been expecting you." just so they're prepared. Masters is more difficult but it has a lot more variety too - you won't end up playing the same people over and over again. That can be a good and a bad thing.

In the end, I'm sure you'll be fine!! And keep up the medicine; it does wonders.
Luckygirl0616, probably a bit of both but mostly judging. My TO has not gotten back to me yet (as far as I'm aware), so I'll end up judging on the days where I'm wanted.

Heheheh, sounds like some intense top-cut matches! You play well. How many years do you still have in Seniors?

Aw, that's no fun not feeling well. Hope you get better soon and well enough to play!
The following week was much better. I not only judged the first half (so 9 packs), but got to play in the booster draft for the second (another 6, with $25 entry fee).

The booster draft I didn't get any EXs, but I got 1 of each trainer (except SER), plus an RH Kyurem! I ended up building a 3-3-3 Vanilluxe deck, and it swept. Loving that Cryogonal to help consistency. :D I won, and got 3 more packs, which I pulled nothing special out of. The guy who got 2nd (that I beat in the last round) got 2 packs, 1 of which had a Deoxys-EX. He said he was really happy he lost to me! We were laughing about it for a while.

Then out of the 9 packs for judging, I pulled a few odds and ends, but got 2 FAs: Ghetsis and Latios! I'm currently scouting for a FA Latias so I can have a matching set <3
Luckygirl0616, sweetness, 100 CP! That is most awesome. And meeting new friends is always a great experience - it's part of the reason why I love tournaments!

As for myself, I'm doing quite well. This week was prerelease week 1. I pulled garbage this week, but hopefully next week will be better. After that I went to spend some time with friends and we talked late into the night (I didn't get home until 2am), and an excellent time was had by all!

and I changed to this profile pic specifically for a friend. it's actually slightly an inside joke :p
Luckygirl0616, in my case, it tends to be me typing the opposite of what I mean. It's caused me plenty of frustration, as you can probably guess!

    So, how are you today?
...I meant to say I was judging this weekend. Geez, what on earth is WRONG with me?!
Luckygirl0616, 2-3 drop. Kinda got roflstomped; didn't enjoy myself very much. But I spent the time after the tourney with some friends, so all was well.

This weekend (California) I'll be playing, though, which will work out well.
Luckygirl0616, I made it to the SoCal Regionals in January, and I was staffing for both Saturday and Sunday - Saturday I was a floater + taking care of Random Goodness, and Sunday I was watching over the Top 32 Masters - it was intense; one of the 6-2s missed cut and no 5-3s made it.

    You were playing...Darkrai/Hydreigon, right? Harsh...

As for States, I plan to go to Arizona this weekend (the 9th) as a player, and California the following weekend (the 16th) as a judge - I live in SoCal so that's basically my home ground.
    Luckygirl0616, understandable.

My profile picture is of an original character I developed, named Deus. The picture is based off of a recolored version of a YGO card named Archlord Kristya. It was a picture I had a lot of fun recoloring.
