Ice/Steel is probably the best combination possible for Ice, and even then it still has two 4x weaknesses.

Maybe Gamefreak will suddenly take away every Water Pokemon's ability to use Ice Beam as compensation. And then maybe aliens from the moon will invade Earth to reclaim Atlantis.
I could settle for a mutual resistance between ice and water. I always thought that if you used an ice attack on a water pokemon, it'd be more likely to freeze, but what do I know...

On second thought, Ice/water isn't actually so bad. We need more of those. As boring as that is, it is the type's only hope.

Clemont is definitely an Electric-type gym leader. In the anime pages, he has a Dedenne. That will probably be a hard gym to pass.

gah basic fairy energy's, im guessing were getting basic dragon energy's too, More Goldust to find and collect, Dark and steele energys are hard to comeby where i live as it is

@Setosama

Definitely did not notice that, steel has lost it edge, and poison has gotten stronger. Poor Ferrothorn, it can be poisoned now...

Not sure if anybody else has noticed, but STEELS IMMUNITY TO POISON IS GONE NOW!!!! WTF?! WAS GAMEFREAK TRYING TO NERF THE STEEL TYPE?!

The Steel type needs nerfing.

I know it is supposed to be the defensive type, but I think they went a bit overboard with it. It will also make Poison a bit more useful competitive.
Wait, is Poison now doing normal damage on Steel or is Steel resisting Poison?

Woah... Overall bad decisions on the type chart aside from the fairy stuff. I wish there was more of an atmosphere of fan involvement with Japanese companies. With a lot of American titles, things get playtested and polled before release to see the overall reaction to changes. I think the type chart is less balanced than before. I wish my input mattered at all.

EDIT: Wait a second, false alarm. Unless I'm reading this wrong, steel is still immune to poison.

Never mind any of that. I can't read the type chart right apparently! XD

But the resistances to dark and ghost gone... BULL! Thank you gamefreak, you took away EVERYTHING that made Steel/Psychic a good type combination. -_-

Also People thought Mega Mewtwo Y was ugly. lol

Well honestly you guys are looking for balance where is none to be found, you are talking about bugs and ice as if its suppose to be on the same level as dragons, fairies, flamethrowers, bolts of lightning, steel titans, fighting champions, ect. its just not logical even for such irrational game. As far as I'm concerned ice types shouldn't be effective against ground( your giant slab of ice is totally owning my giant slab of ground, this make so much sense), and weak to lightning due to ice being made of water and weak to heat, and if anything be effective against water because they should be so cold they should freeze the water in the water types body. Meanwhile bugs logically should be weak to everything but grass, poison, ghost, dark, psychic(tiny bug minds cant comprehend fear or psychological mojo),and fairy (pretty much in the normal sense are bug/humanoids), all because they are bugs, I dont care how big they are.
We can't make mountains out of molehills

I see no sense in making Steel resistant to darkness and paranormal activity. "Oh yeah there's and evil ghost in my house and all the lights are out, better hide in my steel box, that will surely protect me".

Steel shouldn't be the Anti Sea Bear circle of Pokemon.

Except ice is one of the most destructive forces on the planet. The Antarctic, Arctic, and Himalayan ecosystems are some of the most inhospitable on the planet. People, plants, and animals die of exposure to cold, frostbite, etc, all the time. As I said before, glaciers are the most powerful agent of erosion next to mankind. An iceberg sunk the titanic, a ship thought to be unsinkable. I could go on, but I think I made my point pretty clear.

Also, frozen water doesn't conduct electricity as effectively as liquid water. In fact, pure water isn't a conductor at all, it's the mineral impurities in water that do the actual conducting.

As for steel's resistance to dark... Most dark attacks don't involve actual darkness. A large number of them were hand-me-downs from normal, and involve things like dirty fighting. That resistance checks out, IMO. Ghost I agree with. I see no reason for steel to resist ghost. Maybe you could make a case for ghosts being weak to silver things due to folklore, but that would work better for a specific attack. Silver bullet, anyone?

You're trying to apply logic to Pokemon.
It doesn't work.

Mewtwo X is much, MUCH better than Mewtwo Y. Also, looks like Froakie's gonna be my starter now. Poor Chespin.

But aren't there metals that ghosts can't phase through? I thought that was the logic behind it. And I thought the logic behind dark was that metals can reflect light.

Two words:

Tinfoil. Hat.

Are you SERIOUS? Mega Mewtwo Y looks WAY better! And has a better ability to boot!

Also, I just noticed Mewtwo has purple eyes, Mewtwo Y has red, and Mewtwo X has blue, I like little things like that.

Yes metals, not STEEL, or TINFOIL, furthermore metal cant reflect light if there is no light.

I will simply say this...if that T-Rex Pokemon's official English name isn't T-Roc...I'll be somewhat upset!

or how about the play on words T-Rox? although we must consider this is the basic pokemon and we have yet to see the evo so they got to keep in mind which pokemon deserves which pun because in the end they will both be T-rex with rock typing.

My opinion on the evo's:

Chespin: its first form already made me say "WTF is that thing!?". That thought has now quadrupled. Its new form does seem to support my theory it becomes a Grass/Ground, as it looks even more like an underground creature now. But then again: a round body doesn't exactly help digging in.

Fennekin: don't like it standing up, don't like it at all. At the very least, it shouldn't have received that skirt: that fur should've still covered its legs. And having that stick in its tail is just ridiculous. Three strikes, you're out!

Froakie: eh... it doesn't look at herpdiederp as before, which is a good thing. But now it looks like a lout (like a teen who grew too much in height during puberty), which isn't much of an improvement. Only its head looks fine, and that really needs to lose those 2 white dots (less is more! which is exactly why I like gen 1 the most, as there they understood that perfectly).

Too bad Pokémon Inc. didn't take this opportunity to give the Ice-type a boost. I believe it should be super effective against the Fighting-type since muscles are slower and weaker in cold. The risk of injuries also increase when you work out without warming up properly.
