(1) Dragon-Types To Be Introduced to the TCG with 'Dragon Selection!!' [10/25]

Guys, remember this? It was found in the coding of PTCGO a few months ago. At the time, we thought it was just a placeholder image.
Could it be the Dragon-type symbol? http://www.gonintendo.com/wp-content/photos/Mysterious_TCGO_silhouette.png

Now I'm going to say I doubt it is, lol. It's too animal-y / lame. For the other types, we have a leaf, fire, water drop, lightning bolt, eyeball, fist, moon, star, and metal thingy. I bet the Dragon-type will be a claw or maybe some swirl of energy or something.

Well I'll be getting a box or 2 of this!

I was so surprised that I dropped my pear. :-(

With so much focus on Dragon-type Pokemon in the last two generations (particularly the legendaries), I guess the Colorless TCG type never really gave them justice. I mean, Pokemon never wanted to print a colorless Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Reshiram, Zekrom, or Kyurem, did they? Perhaps Pokemon wants to embrace the fact that they're dragons, a fact previously ignored in the TCG.

Why is everyone complaining that this will be bad for the TCG? I remember alot of people said the same thing when Dark and Steel was introduced. It makes sense that Dragons have their own type, Rayquaza wasn't meant to be weak to Cincinno or any other non Dragon type. I applaud whoever came up with this idea.

This is very exciting news! I remember back when the metal and darkness-types came out. It was really cool, and everyone tried to get the new darkness and metal-type Pokemon cards. (I still remember my first darkness-type card was a Japanese Murkrow, and my first metal-type card was a Japanese Neo 2 Scizor)

I cannot wait to see what people come up with for the dragon-type energy symbol in this contest! :)

This doesn't make much sense really, we already have Dragon Type Pokemon that are Colorless and other Elements most notably {R} and {L} with Reshiram and Zekrom. Why try to throw a curve ball and change things drastically? This is like what people's reaction would be If Wizards of the Coast decided to add Purple as a 6th Color in
Magic: The Gathering, it doesn't work as it doesn't solve any problems. Then again PUSA has done this before with {D} and {M} so why panic? If Purple did happen to Magic it would be a bigger deal than this I garauntee you that.

This New Type announcement isn't going to force me to quit the Pokemon TCG cause I still have fun playing it and the experience I have meeting new people and making new friends. I mean really TCG news for Pokemon would have to be WAY worse than this for me to quit playing, this is just miniscule at best. I didn't mind {D} and {M} but this If not for worse does bring "some" diversity in the game not just for deck building but for not having to worry about being countered easily however Dragon Types will need a Weakness otherwise it will be broken.

I hope it's a dragon head as the symbol and my first metal pokemon was steelix and I can't remember what my first dark pokemon was, I still have the steelix : )

I just want to know what the new Dragon Type's main Weakness will be, since they are weak against Ice Type Pokemon it will most likely be {W} since of course Kyurem is {W} and is a Ice Type Pokemon (technically) including Beartic.

I see absolutely no reason why Dragon wouldn't be weak to Dragon. That way it doesn't throw off the weakness system.

I can promise you that they will make the Dragon Type weak towards Dragon only, they normally had Dragon's weak towards colorless to show that they were weak towards other Dragons but so many pokemon are the colorless type, so therefore they made a Dragon type to clear it all up.

That makes sense, kinda like with {P} being weak to themselves. One thing that confuses me is why wait so long to do this? Why didn't they add Dragon Type 12 years ago along with {D} and {M}?

That's what I'm saying, we could have been enjoying the Dragon Type this whole time lol

Probably because Dragonite, its pre-evos, and Kingdra were the only Dragon types. I wouldn't mind the addition of a lot more types to be honest with you, it would make the format less like a fancy game of rock paper scissors.

In terms of Pokemon cards from sets that have already rotated out they won't, newer Pokemon cards they definitely could and for the record Charizard isn't really a Dragon Type Pokemon even though it can learn Dragon Dance, it's actually Fire/Flying.

Look it up. In the video games it's x4 weak to Rock cause it's both Fire and Flying Type and the reason why it can learn Dragon Dance is because it can breed with Gyarados which learns it even though it isn't a Dragon Type Pokemon since it's Water/Flying Type.

Doesn't make sense does it? :p

This...is glorious news! Now I can only hope it's an orange color like the one I use for Neo Redux...

But this may mean I'll have to change things up a bit...

To be honest, I think it'll most likely be either a shade of teal or a deep, royal blue.

I think a user with charizard in his name would know its typing. I think what he was getting at was if they would print a dragon type charizard card despite the fact that it is not a dragon. Which I could see maybe happening somewhere down the line. Pokemon loves to play it up for fan favorites. I am just going to be annoyed if we get another overpowered Garchomp card and another unplayable Dragonite.

I'm not annoyed by this, but it is... strange. I mean, out of all of the eight other types that weren't in the TCG yet, they picked DRAGON? Ugh. It's going to be like Lightning and Fire only worse because there's even fewer Dragon Pokemon in the games. Expect every Dragon to get spammed out from now on so they'll include some Dragon Pokemon in each new set.

I wish they had separated Rock/Ground and Fighting, if anything. Colorless representing Normal, Dragon and Tornadus was fine IMO since Dragon is small and Flying Pokemon are rarely Colorless.
