(1) Dragon-Types To Be Introduced to the TCG with 'Dragon Selection!!' [10/25]

I think a user with charizard in his name would know its typing. I think what he was getting at was if they would print a dragon type charizard card despite the fact that it is not a dragon. Which I could see maybe happening somewhere down the line. Pokemon loves to play it up for fan favorites. I am just going to be annoyed if we get another overpowered Garchomp card and another unplayable Dragonite.

Lol thanks! Of course I was wishful thinking, anything having to do with Charizard is awesome to me. And you are not joking about the Dragonite, he better be beast when he gets made as a dragon type. Also Latios and Latias haven't been made in a while so is it possible they will be in this set?

I am confused. So we are getting a new Dragon Type Pokemon or a new symbol like the existing symbols that we already have for types that exist now? Sure is odd to come out with a new symbol this late in the series.:)

Watch this be like the Lost Zone. It shows up for a handful of sets, and then dies.

I wish that they would've separated Rock/Ground/Fighting though. In my opinion, that's too many types represented by one symbol.

And I'm going to be annoyed If we get a Dragon Type Charizard in the TCG, you want it to make sense but it doesn't suit not only the "flavor" of the TCG but the video game franchise as well. The designers of the TCG have tried to follow the video game franchise's typings closely while designing Pokemon cards.

Charizard is not Fire/Flying/Dragon as far as I recall and the video game franchise has always had Pokemon geared towards 2 Types, not 3. Then again Delta Species has defied this logic I guess so I shouldn't put anything past TPCi or PUSA in general.

A new symbol like the existing symbols that we already have for the types that exist now. There will now be 10 Types of Pokemon in the Pokemon TCG consisting of Fighting, Fire, Lightning, Grass, Water, Psychic, Colorless, Dark, Steel, and Dragon.

Aw ok. That makes sense now. Also I always thought Charizard should be a Dragon/Flying type. Not only because he can get Dragon Type moves and Fire Moves but because he can learn some Flying Type and Rock type moves as well. I always thought Charizard's type was a bit off from Fire/Flying but really should be Dragon/Flying instead.:)

Well Charizard is a fire starter. So if he were Dragon-type it would have to be Fire/Dragon.

Oh yeah that could be another possible too. I just know his type is a little off XD.:)

I doubt that Game Freak would change that in the video games, If Charizard was Fire/Dragon over Fire/Flying then he'd be more playable considering he doesn't take as much damage from Stealth Rocks and other Rock Type Moves, most specifically Earthquake still popular from Gen IV. Another technology gap like back inbetween Gen II and Gen III would ruin the video game franchise forever.

People think Gyarados should be Water/Dragon like Kingdra but it was never the case at all. Even with Intimidate Gyarados would be tough to take down consistently without a Rock Type Move If it was Water/Dragon unless you used an Electric Type Move like T-Bolt or Thunderpunch or something. TPCi should still follow the video game franchise to a tee and not mess things up. Hopefully they don't but you never know.

Lugia and Torkoal.

I really wouldn't put it past them if they made a dragon type Charizard, but do I want one? Not really, I think it would cause more confusion.

But I'm really excited about this and I get why they made Dragon Selection all holographic now; they're introducing a new type and they wanted to make the introduction special.

Holy cow! I don't even know what to say... Now I think the whole mini-set will just have new Dragon-type cards...

btw, I can't stress enough to say that Charizard's typing should have always been Fire/Dragon. It isn't but it SHOULD be! Charizard being a dragon, but not being a Dragon-type is just stupid... Oh, and I don't care if that would unbalance the Kanto starters... Charizard is more dragon than some dragon-type pokémon *coughaltariacough*...

I think that Torkoal's Fighting instances are all mistakes. Lugia's recent Water retyping probably only occurred because it's a version mascot and Ho-Oh is Fire.

In other words, I don't think Pokemon like Gyarados and Charizard will be Dragon-type TCG cards.

I really do wonder if this will stick or, like someone mentioned, fade away like Lost Zone mechanics did; it'll all depend on whether they make any sort of Dragon Energy card or will it just exist as a possible typing for a card but never factor into Energy requirements, etc. I miss the idea they used to have with Dragon types wherein they'd consistently have unique Energy requirements -- Salamence always needed some combination of Water/Fire, Flygon Electric/Grass, Dragonite Water/Electric... You also have to consider that more often than not each TCG set tries to have at least one representative line of each type, remember when there were few Electric types and the same few Electric Pokémon got ridiculous amounts of reprints? I can't see them wanting to introduce another opportunity for reprint fatigue.

If it really does end up a fleeting gimmick, I could see it sort of building off Holon/Delta Species (and others) as a precedent, with various Special Energy cards and Holon Transciever et al. equivalents except that now it has a specific Energy type to support instead of a Delta symbol (or an Owner's, Dark, etc). That would set a novel precedent for even more interesting things, like a literal 'Crystal' type a la e-Card, but I have to say I'm surprised they're doing this before revisiting typical tropes like TR/TRR-style Dark Pokémon, an Owner's set, or even revisiting Delta Species if they think the format needs a shake-up with respect to Type balance.

Ah weird then why do these types of Pokemon have these weird moves to their move pool? I just does not make sense but the moves are pretty cool though.:)

As long as they don't give it the Dark and Metal treatment (Only special energies for years and years before introducing basic energies), I'm excited for the dragon type!

Hm. I guess I stand corrected.
Apologies, Zekrom.

But honestly, this makes no sense. Why make the Dragon-type FIFTEEN YEARS LATER?

I imagine a cross between colorless and steel? Maybe ... In my head it's a rainbow colored wing.

Oh my god. I never saw this coming. This will be exciting to see the new Dragon typed cards. I need to make a new album for this.

I knew it!!! I said this would happen in the Dragon Selection thread! Dragon is my favorite type, so I'm excited! I can't wait to see them! I wonder if Zekrom, Reshiram, Dialga, and Palkia will be in the set as Dragon types....
