(1) New Trailer for ‘Extremespeed Genesect: Mewtwo’s Awakening’ [4/17]

Just got this idea about those 'badges' surrounding the eeveelutions, seen in the trailer. With Sylveon, the total number of eeveelutions is brought to eight, which is the same amount of gyms (so far) we need to defeat. What if those 'badges' are the actual gym badges for Pokémon X and Y and every gym leader has one of the eeveelutions in it's team? Those would be pretty awesome gym badges and it means we would finally get our dark type gym leader.

i think this is not a new mewtwo. The female voice (and a female suggesting form) may be the result of chromosome change or something like that in my opinion. I think this because X/Y suggest so, and the "DNA mark" in the japanese logo makes me wonder too. Anyway, i think we should not be so crazy about the issue, when the movie comes out we will know if it is or if it's not a new mewtwo. I usually don't get upset about this things because the anime/movies show a lot of things that are A LOT different than the games. That's why a prefer the manga, where the story of mewtwo is more exciting. (IMO) I stopped being so upset about the anime/movies when a trainer who was offered to be a frontier brain and a pikachu lvl over 9000 who defeated legendaries couldn't beat lvl crap pokemon (for example snivy) Sorry for my english

Even in Pokemon, I don't think you can just spontaneously change an entire chromosome o_O I mean there are certain fish that can change their sex, but... Mewtwo is canonically genderless to begin with. Wouldn't that be a needlessly complex plot point when they could have just kept the same (or a similar) VA?

is pokemon, anything can happen...they showed us that more than one time

Yeah... I wouldnt knock that theory entirely. This has actually sort of already happened before. Shaymin sounded very feminine in its land form, and a lot more masculine in its sky form (and both land and sky look like a female and male respectively.) I dont believe they specified shaymins gender though.

But then, from what I can tell, I think Mewtwo has only one voice for both forms, which does kinda debunk that theory..

My friend came up with this theory:

Notice how the "Mewtwo" in the trailer not only has a female voice, but different body language as well (more floaty and feminine in general)?
Notice how they're revealing videos of Mewtwo transforming into Mewthree, without outright stating that it's a new forme (the official website still only says "connection")?
Also, how "Mewtwo" attacks Ash in the trailer?
It's quite possible that Mewthree is indeed a new species, and the stuff about Mewtwo transforming into her is there to throw us off.
In the movie, Mewthree is the actual main villain, and impersonates Mewtwo for her own purposes.
Red Genesect is actually a good guy, and is working with the real Mewtwo to stop Mewthree.

What do you think?

I want to say to you and all of you guys who don't know japanese (i don't KNOW japanese but i study so i can understand a little) THERE IS NO MEWTHREE SO FAR. I want to make this clear, because i read everyday things like "mewthree exists" . Despite the fact that the english website says there is a connection and does not state something so surelly, CORO CORO magazine (im sure everyone of you knows it, but for the ones who don't, coro coro is a big and important magazine there in japan) Aready said that is NOT mewthree, and it is a new form.

Even bulbapedia says it, and even mewtwo transforms in the trailer. Yeah, you could say "it is only showing its true self and was looking like mewtwo the same way zoroark can look like raikou" but CORO CORO already stated that is a new form. Nothing more, and nothing less. Maybe in the near future they will show us a mewthree (or maybe they will not) but there is no mewthree yet (and personal opinion, i doubt that mewthree will be created) - Sorry for my english

I seriously hope they have a good explanation for it, in any case. I read somewhere that the reason for Mewtwo's new voice was... to make it more marketable to young girls. Because they buy lots of Pikachu, Meloetta and Mew toys. Meanwhile, they decide to make the girly-looking Reshiram into a manly manly macho badass man... if they indeed changed THE original Mewtwo into a female, I'll have plenty of reason to hate Reshiram.

i am pretty sure it is the same mewtwo we all know about. If you see the trailer, it even seems to recognize ash. As i said before, the reason of the voice change is somewhat related to gene/DNA manipulation, which i think will be one of the themes of the game (the other one being norse mythology in my opinion). But it is just a theory, nothing so sure.

I firmly believe that this is, in fact, a new Mewtwo. Why would Team Rocket make just one? Maybe the new teams(s) from gen 6 somehow got a hold of one of TR's Mewtwos and modified its DNA to create a newer, upgraded version. I think this because in the trailer, Mewtwo seems to explain her origin to Ash, even though he already where Mewtwo (the first one, and all other Mewtwos, if any) came from. I am pretty sure that if this was the first Mewtwo, it would not reiterate its origin to Ash. Ash knew this and so did the first Mewtwo. Like said before, it is also a lot more floaty, aerodynamic, and agile compared to the first Mewtwo, who would set up shields to defend itself, and this new one seems to actively dodge attacks instead of using protect or what ever it was. Anyway, I like that Gamefreak is using different voices for legendaries, instead of the typical deep masculine voice from before. I think that gen6 will be a new, refreshing edition to the series, both game and movie wise, getting ride of old ideas and introducing newer, more creative ideas.

Also, to the above post, Mewtwo doesn't seem in recognize Ash in my opinion. It only protected him and his friends because they were most likely going to be killed in Genesect's blast, and it didn't want that to happen for some reason. Also, I like the gender-switching theory, which would be fitting and interesting in this genetic-themed generation. However, I just don't think it is likely.

Unrealted to Mewtwo, but I think that they could of done so much more with Genesect's voice instead of the standard deep, manly, legendary voice that is so common. They could of easily processed it or ran it through a vocoder or something to make it sound more robotic, like the cyborg-bug it really is.

It has already been confirmed as a form. And Mewtwo was changing into it new form directly in the trailer. I wish it wasn't either, but thats the way it goes.

I can see how you think that, Mewtwo looking away with a regal stance, but how come Ash remembered him? Or at least looked like he recognized him. Mewtwo could of got his memory erased again or could have been geneticly modified, but both are highly unlikely, as that would be repetitive.

I mean that a new Mewtwo (by that I mean not the one from the first movie), but this one can change forms. I guess it was modified by someone?
Also,
Ash recognized Mewtwo because he has seen the first Mewtwo as well, so before she (Movie 16 Mewtwo) talked, Ash thought it was the same Mewtwo as before. There are multiple Mewtwos, confirmed by the manga. I still don't see how Mewtwo recognized Ash at all, I have watched the trailer several times as well. She just looked at him to talk face-to-face.
