(1) Nintendo 3DS Details Announced at E3 [6/15]

does anyone know if the 3ds can make ds games 3d?

Well, we know it has backwards compatibility, and that you can change the level of 3-D from nothing to maximum, meaning we can play 3DS games in 2D, but I personally think that even if we did employ the 3-D screen onto the regular DS Games, the games probably aren't going to work as well since they weren't designed with the feature in mind.

But since we can make 3D games into regular 2D, we MAY be able to take 2D games into 3D. But it'd depend on the game.

I think.

:D

And IIRC, it should be out sometime this year.

Thanks for the info.

Does anyone else who may have been at E3 know an exact date by chance? =O

I'll give 1,000 cookies to someone who may know that. xD

The original DS was released on November 21, 2004, and they had the "first" fully-functional prototype and E3 the May before. So I'd say it's a safe bet that it'll be out around November.

I thought the 3Ds was a April fools prank....? That's what dmaster said, anyway.

WHERE THE HECK DID I SAY THAT? I want proof right now of me seeing that, otherwise that's just a blatant lie. OTHER PEOPLE were talking about how it was a prank but I POSTED A LINK of Nintendo's press release of the 3DS saying it wasn't a prank. >__>

Overall, this was an amazing day for the video game industry. Nintendo completely blew the competition out of the water with their E3 Presentation. With tons of games getting announced and the 3DS coming out, I wasn't surprised or disappointed that they didn't have anything Pokemon. They usually don't and I went in expecting nothing but Zelda and 3DS and got so so much more.

dmaster out.

I was part of that discussion, I mentioned the 3DS, someone said it was an April Fool's prank, and dmaster came in posting the official Nintendo statement.

Thank you. That's really all I needed lol. I hate people who don't know what they're talking about srsly.

dmaster out.

Hmmm.... It's not directly from Nintendo, so 500 Cookies for you!

I also wasn't really expecting Pokemon, but I think what they've shown is ten-thousand times better than some Black and White news. ^.^

I actually expected little to no news about Pokemon. I mean, it's never really been the big discussion among E3.

Although, I was wondering what Nintendo was doing wasting time/money on titles like Wii Party and Mario Sports Mix. They may end up being awesome, but, come on, really? Wii Party is a Mario Party knockoff, and the Volleyball/Hokey/Basketball we saw looked more like minigames than actual arcade-style sports that I've come to expect from the Mario Sports Series. They didn't seem full scale, if that makes sense....

I think that's always just because when they show a game off in e3, it's always worse than it is when it finally gets released. For one reason or another.

I would have rather seen pokemon then "Epic Mickey" though. xD But yeah, most of it was great.

I want a 3DS girl to come up to me and say,
"Do you want to play with me?"

3DS tech doesn't work for tv because you can't adjust the distance of your tv from your face like you can with a handheld. The 3D feature only works if it's a certain distance from you, or so I've heard.

You already said that first part lol...

And what do you mean it only works if it's a certain distance from your head? It works from variable distances, considering how close and how far some of the people playing with it were holding it. Besides, it's not using face-recognition technology; the 3D effect is purely adjustable, so we can change it based on distance.

The reason it doesn't work recorded is because the second-layer effect is masked by the TV. If the TV also had the technology, then it would work, but it's the same as trying to show a three dimensional movie without glasses; it wont work.

(well, in the future they'll probably change that as they have now, but for the moment you get my point)
