These are all new sprites, aren't they? What's the point of comparing them to the picture when none of them are going to match anyway?

I'm using them as a point of reference. Plus the freaking thing has ears.. I can't be the only one to see that!

The mini sprite for Growlithe and the one circled in the picture are nothing alike.
Yes it does. Can't you see the tuft on his head? The tail? That can only be one of two things and it sure as hell is not a flareon. Also look at this and compare it to the sprite you see in the pokedex. http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/File:Ani058MS.png It's a growlithe, No doubt in my mind. Also look at Pidgey's menu sprite. http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/File:Ani016MS.png
. It looks nothing like a pidgey.

No, its definitely not Growlithe, for a start the tail is the wrong colour. Growlithe's tail is yellow, while the tail on the new pokedex is red/brown. Then theres the shape of the tail. Growlithe's tail ends in a tuft, while the tail on the pokedex has a flat end.

I looked through all the party sprites side by side with the pokedex pic, and the only ones that looked similar enough in both colour and shape were Pidgey and Spearow and even then they weren't a good enough match. In my opinion its a new Pokémon.

Let's agree to disagree.

No but seriously if you want to believe that the spot will be filled by pidgey than that's your opinion and I respect that. We will both know for sure when the game comes out. Im gonna stick to my guns though and say that its gonna be a growlithe. If I'm wrong i'm wrong, I can accept that.

I just want to know one thing... will we be able to transfer from Generation V to X/Y? I hate the thought of not being able to transfer all my old Pokémon into Y.

Most likely. Haven't all Pokemon games let you transfer from past games?

Not second gen to third. But I'm pretty sure it will be possible. I don't know how much problems a new type/type changes in some pokemon, maybe changed dual type attacks and whatever they are said to do to the ev system will cause, but I don't think it would be too hard to work that out.
*cough* I wonder if that insider mentioned anything about that *caugh*

I know it's probably a baseless fear, but I'm just worried about them doing some massive technical overhaul to the game mechanics or something like they did in R/S.

Honestly, I hope they do make an impassable barrier and start fresh. It would give them less excuse to leave out older Pokémon that haven't been obtainable in the most recent games in years, especially legendaries and previous starters.

Why not at least post-game?

I would actually like that idea.
Mostly I hope they won't make another bazillion legendaries again, that are annoying to obtain and have another thousand different forms. I liked the first two gens number of legendaries, why should there be so many of them... I know many people like having all those but I never use them and because they are sometimes hard to obtain, they just hinder me from completing my pokedex.
I wonder, now that the games are on the 3 ds they could easily add dlcs with like whole regions(some of the old regions maybe?) you could visit to get the old pokemon...

I can't believe I read through 12 pages just to get caught up.
In my opinion, the Pokemon everybody is talking about is either Pidgey, or a new Pokemon.
I looked at the Pidgey sprite to make sure, and while it resembles it, there are some differences.
It may even be the new rodent Pokemon.
Who knows?
We will know when a site releases the full contents of the Pokedex.

I've actually always wanted to be able to travel to all the regions and now that they could easily do this it would be a waste not to. The only thing we've gotten is being able to go to Kanto in HGSS

Which, because they were remakes of Gold and Silver, wasn't all that spectacular.

No, no, no! I'd hate that! I love being able to transfer in my Shinies, my EV-trained stuff, my events, my legendaries, my event legendaries, my in-game teams of the past... Some of these Pokémon have been with me for 10 years!

Besides, they can find ways to give us starters and legendaries. WPM already told us that bit about Professor Sycamore and the Kanto starters.

I believe the only thing that was official is October as month of release. The date on your preorder card is really interesting, though. I wonder if it could be the release date, if so, I really hoped it would come earlier in October :O

Nah, the sell-by date on Target preorder cards is always one week before a game's release date, and the 24th is one week before the last day of October, so it still leaves the whole month open. I imagine once the release date is announced, any additional cards they print up will be changed to reflect that.

Nintendo generally releases their main title Pokemon games on the first Sunday of the month that they are scheduled (in the US); and Nintendo World (NY) hosts a big pre-release party the day before, saturday. Using that information, I would say that the 6th might be the release date. The following week has Columbus day on Monday making that not the most practical weekend to have a release, and after that it might be a bit too late in the month.

I'm calling it now, Pokemon X/Y will be released on 10/6/13

idk, those are my $0.02

what you think?

For the love of God it's Pidgey. I posted a huge Pic of it in another thread but I don't feel like digging around for it.

EDIT: I found it. Prepare to zoom out.

Can't we just say it's Sylveon or another new Pokemon? No matter how many sprites you put up to it, none will match because you'll be comparing them to Gen VI sprites which definitely will vary, even if just a bit, to the ones we have now.

What makes you think it would be easy? That would take up a huge amount of memory, more than any individual 3DS card could hold. It's just not possible.

Why would that not be practical? Hell, it'd be better for a lot of people - more time to play before the work/school week starts.

It's much more possible than it was with the DS/DSi and the least they could do is one or two regions
Hoenn

I would love if this was a fresh start. No more hacked or created Pokemon, no using the GTS to get copies etc.

I think that would make me most excited.. Only sad thing is my first every Pokemon (Swampert) will have to live on through Pokemon Black 2...
