(1) Worlds 2013 Location: Vancouver, Canada! [8/12]

Lol I'm not whining about it being in Canada. I support the decision they made, but I wish it could have been closer. Wishing is not whining.

exactly. I support it, even if I don't understand it. While we are wishing (Detroit for 2014? yeah right, that'll never happen)

People who whine about it being in Canada are spoiled brats and need to realize that everyone doesn't live in the USA and that some people need to travel much longer and spend way more money to get to Worlds.

Finnish guy

I meant that it's nice that it is in Canada. I'm just wondering where in Vancouver the event is.

It will most likely be in a large building, possibly a prestigious hotel or maybe even a convention center.

I sort of figured that. When will the location be released?

Maybe in September when Pokemon finally updates the P!P page for the 2012-2013 Series. If not, nationals.

I feel ya. 10-12+ Hour flights ain't fun.

Ouch, I was planning on winning the UK VGC next year, but I would've prefer a trip to Hawaii or something like that.. Never been very interested in Canada :p Please, let 2014 worlds be in Sweden :D *never ever gonna happen*

Vancouver. No offense to the Canadians and whoever else may like the city, but WHAT? If it had to be Canada, Toronto would've been a much better pick, but I guess it has to keep the tradition going of being close to an ocean. I'd be happy if even a Regionals got back to Nashville, it's been 3 years people!

Vancouver = on the Pacific Ocean = closer to the Japanese. That's the reason that Worlds hasn't been in Florida lately. Toronto would be more central for US peeps, but this is Worlds, not Nationals, so...

I heard somewhere there were a bunch of cheap flights going to and from Japan that go through Vancouver. I don't know how true it is, but still...

I'm really happy to see Worlds outside of the USA!

I hope next Worlds (after this one) will be in Europe or Japan!

I sense a pattern.

People on West Coast: "I'm glad it's not in the US again."
People on East Coast: "Seriously, Canada? Canada sucks, but still, Toronto would've been a much better option."
Canadians: "I won't be able to go anyway!"
Europeans: "lol east coast stop whining"

Stop the whining people. This is worlds. To me, it could even be on Japan, since it is where the franchise is born. I know most of you are just sad because it's far, but it's kinda annoying to see some of the posts here complaining like the US were the center of the world. There are lot's of others who have to travel farther distances than you, and some of them don't even stand a chance to win... Please guys, be more grateful.

It happens every year no matter where it is

Hawaii
People on West Coast: "I can't go, too expensive."
People on East Coast: "Seriously, what happened to Florida? Put it in Orlando again."
Canadians: "I can't go, too expensive."
Europeans: "I can't go, too expensive."

San Diego
People on West Coast: "Wow this is so great, it's not too far from me."
People on East Coast: "Seriously, what happened to Florida? Put it in Orlando again."
Canadians: "I won't be able to go anyway!"
Europeans: "lol east coast stop whining"

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyup

Come now, guys - TPCI has to pick one location that is relatively central to the great majority of the playerbase, and also happens to be a nice vacation spot as well.
I side with the Europeans - lol guys stop whining

Yeah, I would've seen that I was just too lazy to read all (I think 5 at the time) the pages. But for me I have to qualify 1st before I worry about the price.

Ah, got it.

I know a bunch of people were wondering why not Toronto or wherever so I didn't see harm in quoting myself for all of them.

I'm fairly confident I can get an invite LOL! My mom has some friends who live there so even if I don't get the invite I can try and grind in! Also I'm in seniors and thats easier to grind in!
For what it's worth, grinder is still a super-hard tournament in Seniors. It was about as hard for me as Masters States with 280 masters was. Have you gotten the invite before? If not, you really shouldn't be so confident and if so, I'm surprised you're so confident in your ability to do it again. I've never really met a player who consistently qualifies that doesn't try to take it one game/tournament at a time and feels the amount of luck in the game is small enough to consistently qualify.

The place we usually have Provincials/Regionals up there is way, way too small for Worlds - it barely holds the ~250 people we have. And as far as I know, none of the hotels around there can hold any more people than that. So it will be interesting to see where it ends up.
