(1) Worlds 2013 Location: Vancouver, Canada! [8/12]

Yeah, I figured. I checked the Marriott Pinnacle's website and it said the Pinnacle Ballroom could hold 600 people. I've never been to Worlds so does that sound about right?

Yeah, it does. LCQs tend to have just over 500 people, never mind all the various other peeps that happen to be roaming the halls.
I went to San Diego Worlds and the main room (it was in a Hilton next to the SD Convention Center) could easily hold 1000 people, which I think is about right for a Worlds-size room. But I'll be interested to see what they do.

inb4 Vancouver gets restructured just for Worlds, just like London was for the Olympics

Since the Olympics were in Vancouver two years ago I can see everything already being able to hold a huge amount of people. It just depends where Pokemon wants to hold it... :|

They've probably already chosen the venue by now, so we'll just have to wait and see, I suppose.

also yeah I forgot Vancouver was the site for 2010 Olympics

I guess it's time for me to start calling hotels to see if they're holding it. Too bad most sites won't let you book plane tickets/book hotel rooms a year in advance.

For what it's worth, grinder is still a super-hard tournament in Seniors. It was about as hard for me as Masters States with 280 masters was. Have you gotten the invite before? If not, you really shouldn't be so confident and if so, I'm surprised you're so confident in your ability to do it again. I've never really met a player who consistently qualifies that doesn't try to take it one game/tournament at a time and feels the amount of luck in the game is small enough to consistently qualify.
The place we usually have Provincials/Regionals up there is way, way too small for Worlds - it barely holds the ~250 people we have. And as far as I know, none of the hotels around there can hold any more people than that. So it will be interesting to see where it ends up.

I was joking about being confident hence the LOL, but I still can hope for the best. Last season was my first season so no I haven't even had a full season ever to try and qualify. and I know the grinders a lot of luck but I am more excited just to be able to go to worlds.

Then either find one that will let you book a year in advance, and/or hope you get lucky and find the right hotel.

I lol at how the world championships from 2004 to 2012 are either in Orlando, Hawaii, or San Diego.

Look at Magic's world championships.

1994: Milwaukee
1995 to 1998: Seattle
1999: Yokohama
2000: Brussels
2001: Toronto
2002: Sydney (The Australian one, not the Canadian one)
2003: Berlin
2004: San Francisco
2005: Yokohama
2006: Paris
2007: New York City
2008: Memphis
2009: Rome
2010: Chiba
2011: San Francisco

They should totally put one in Australia somewhere. It is so much closer to Japan. Then again, the American people would whine about it. Some are already whining about how it is in Vancouver, just because it isn't in the US. I think it is a great idea that they have it in Vancouver, but I expect the next time, that it would take place in Europe or Australia.

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyup

Come now, guys - TPCI has to pick one location that is relatively central to the great majority of the playerbase, and also happens to be a nice vacation spot as well.
I side with the Europeans - lol guys stop whining

depends on your definition of a "nice vacation spot", lol, it's kinda cold here in Vancouver/Victoria, but in the summer it's ok. Either way, I don't care that it's in Vancouver, since I'm so close to it :p

It's finally nearer to my area. Now all I have to do is just go out and buy the airplane tickets. XD

But seriously, having a Pikachu in the Vancouver Canucks jersey would be a lot more suitable, since we're talking about jerseys now. :p

Nah, we need the Canucks emblem on Worlds jerseys. It'd be way funnier (and probably more feasible).

Maybe adding in all the hockey team logos from Canada may work too.
I would consider paying well to buy something like this.
...lol 8300

Fun fact: Canada's actual national sport is lacrosse!

Anyways, I'm excited to see if they use any Aboriginal art, kind of like how they used the Tikis for Hawaii

It will be until the Americans cross over the border and make it hockey, because that's really all we care about in regards to Canada :p

I hope you can tell I'm just messing with you
