(1) X/Y Pokemon Direct [9/4]

I read somewhere the fee will be 500 Yen for the year (so about $5 yearly which is not bad at all).

And for those people saying they are NOT going to use Pokemon Bank at all, do you just not intend to transfer over any of your pokemon from your old games? I for one like this feature because you can transfer your pokemon yourself and not have to rely on anyone. I had to transfer 300+ pokemon from my 4th gen to 5th gen using online people which took FOREVER...this will be a lot less hassle

Is it just me or the Magnezone shown in Pokémon Bank was a female? o_O"

Affirmative, general.

I never transfer. I just keep them in the generation I caught them initially.

Guess what people, hundred of thousands of people all have pokemon and they are trying to make a service to store all of them and be abl to transfer them for for Xy and multiple generations beyond, its a service, so don't be surprised when it costs you the one spontaneous lunch you were randomly going to have a Mcdonalds this year because I too think it will be only $5.00 a year, you probably wont even remember you had to pay for it.

Oh noes we have to pay for a video game service!? coughxboxlivepsncough

I don't even think that it's gonna be a big deal, quite simply. Sure, I'd rather no fee than a fee, but knowing Nintendo, this is gonna be a minute amount.

I actually like the new Megalutions. I think that they're pretty awesome, and I love the overpowered abilities that they're giving them. I mean, it isn't like they don't need some love after all of this time, I mean come on! Blastoise will OHKO everything in existence with a Hydro Pump, Venusaur will probably survive anything that isn't super effective because fire and ice are now neutral and now Charizard will probably be a much better Pokemon in VGC because of Drought and a nasty Flamethrower/Fireblast. I can't wait.

Charizard and Blastoise look awesome, by the way.

I can understand charging for extra storage online, but to charge for sending Pokémon that we already own from our DS games to our 3DS games is absolutely ridiculous. Surely they could've made something better for that. I don't get why they couldn't have made an app that dumped DS Pokémon into the 3DS' memory, then allowed retrieval on X/Y (similar to how you could retrieve data from Dream Radar to BW2).

Hopefully there will be a free work-around for this, because I don't intend to pay to transfer 5 or so Pokémon (though I really want to transfer my Shiny Pokémon).

The Mega starters are slightly disappointing IMO, I was hoping that Charizard or Blastoise would get a new type combination. Especially Charizard, he's been dying for Fire/Dragon since Day 1 and now that that's actually a reasonable change, he stays Fire/Flying for some stupid reason.

Also, I think Pokemon Bank is a neat idea, but I don't like the idea of having to pay to transfer Pokemon from 5th to 6th gen. The free trial doesn't really help me either, since I don't mass transfer my Pokemon from past gens, I bring them over as needed.

The annual fee comes with a pretty big flaw: What happens when you stop paying? Do you no longer have access to those Pokemon? Do they cease to exist altogether after a certain period? I can see this causing a lot of people hardship. I also wonder if/how they'll handle allowing multiple games to access Bank. (And if it isn't possible, it kinda defeats the purpose of the storage being cloud-based instead of local, doesn't it?)

Aside from that, I don't really have an issue with it, given they, of course, need to maintain the servers and such. (I'm actually surprised the GTS has always been free to be honest, given it too has a lot of traffic and has to store data.)

As for the Megas, I like Venusaur and Blastoise, and for the most part like Charizard. Its lower jaw being cream/yellow rather than orange bothers me, however. It just doesn't look good. Also, yay for Frenzy Plant. ;p

Still hoping X/Y competitions disallow transferred Pokemon from participating. It's still weird that Pokemon and moves from Gen 3 are usable.

The Pokemon website has stated we can expect a free trial period. Probably a month or so.

Please don't compare this to xbox live and psn. If Pokemon charged for all the things xbox live charges for, it wouldn't be Pokemon.

This idea, that dates back to Crystal, can be defended on its own merits and not by its resemblance to a Microsoft or Sony product.

I like the idea of pokemon bank.. it will make pokemon transfer between generation easier.

about the Mega-Evolution, I was dissapointed Charizard keeps it original type despite having a much more draconic looks.. Blastoise now has 3 pumps.. It look so cool gaining another type might be cooler. As for Venusaur, not much different if you ask me. All in al, they just make the 3 kanto starter less chubby and more serious looking if you ask me

Disallowing transferred Pokemon from participating would not be logical and would make a lot of players very angry.

Imagine if you'd worked your butt off to build multiple teams in past games and you couldn't use them in official competitions. The very idea is ridiculous and won't happen.

It would not make sense at all from a business standpoint or a gaming standpoint.

I'm assuming the X and Y bundles will not include the actual games?! Very nice looking console nonetheless. I'll be picking the X Bundle on Day 1 and make an unboxing video of it. Stay tuned if you're interested.

I dont know if anyone else did but I noticed this:

Can be seen on the X and Y website in the Bank tab...

Also... this could be just a fluke, but a female Magnezone also on the Bank.

I think i know why so they can detract any hacked pokemon that's was created by a program and so its doesn't get transfer into X And Y from 5th gen that's one of the reason poke bank was made for.

Be glad, that he doesn't receive the ground weakness and shut up, guy. What you all have with the type changing?
I'm even not sure, if Mega-Ampharos is electric-dragon for sure. I only read of its type changing once, and that was here on Poké-Beach in some thread, so I'm not if it is really oficial. And if it is, it even doesn't mean, that all megas must receive other type-combo.

What more, I'm still not sure, if I actually like or dislike the megas. It sure is great idea and the Pokémon get stronger, but, hey, What is “new” on Charizard's design? One extra spine on head, more “cruel” face and “thin skin” on wrists. They sure could try some more for some Pokémon, especially Ampharos, that only gets “hair“; Lucario is weird, too, and now that Charizard thing. Not mention Kangaskhan, it was IMO tha most stupid thing, they ever created. “Mother” has nothing new on itself, although I like the idea of double-attacking, but, again, they could try some more.
They proved, that, although it is not proper permanent evolution, it is possible to change the design strongly, to make it look like it is one – Mewtwo and Mawile are the prove; so what the hell is with that Charizard?
Ah, whatever, I stay tuned and we'll see, what more they bring to us.

The pokémon Bank is accurally very awsome, cause now you can transfer pokémon from you X and Y games without having an extra 3DS! Only getting one game? Well, now you can restart without loosing you pokémon!

Also you needed two DS to transfer pokémon from 4th gen to 5th gen.

Suck for the people who don't have internet access I guess :/

Sharp eye!
I remember people talking about Vivillon, pixels and the connection to its secret... Like you've said, it might be some gender difference though.

Thats what I personally think it might be, a gender difference. Either way, if this isnt somehow just a weird fluke, this means we get tiny sprite recolors and a possible new way to show off shinies. :)

The first thing I did was check every screenshot, especially the PC box ones lol. They tend to like to hide things in those.

I'm thinking they'll continue to store your Pokemon (maybe for a limited time, like a year?) if you don't continue to pay/forget to pay for the service just so all your 'mons won't go spiraling down the drain. You just won't be able to access them until you pay the fee again.
