5 Gen Competitive Play

Keldeo looks good, but not broken. Heart of Justice is a fairly good ability, being able to switch into thing like Zoroark, Umbreon, or Darkrai and their dark attacks is a good ability. A Lum Berry set could be used as a Darkrai counter in ubers. However, Shaymin-S, either SubSeed or Scarf, will ruin this things. Also the sucky movepool doesn't really help it. I could see Keldeo being placed nicely into OU as a revenge killer, or maybe a SubSwords set, or into Ubers as a Darkrai counter set with Lum Berry to cure sleep. Overall, I predict OU for this awesome little pony.

On a side note, i posted my BW team in the RMT folder. Go check it out!!

@Zenith
YEAH ROOPUSHIN
I've actually been trying to use Roopushin, but none of my sets have been working. I'll try some of yours. Also, I find Rapid Spin Doryuuzu to be really good.

I didn't think of that! I'll add a set to my post.

@6-D: Glad to help! I've tested the first two, the others are experimental.

Oh i was just being silly. I know you mean no harm. Youd know if i was angry.
I really like Doryuuzu.
Its issu is either x scissor or rapid spin.
X scissor provides more coverage, but rapid spin will make it a speedy hazard killer.
I prefer the first keldio set. I like stone edge or x scissor for the last move. What a shame it didnt get ice beam.

Genesect should be fun with all those moves. Technobuster, and all those moves we know and love like flamethrower, thunderbolt, and icebeam.
Im going to try victini.

DENNIS.

Dennis the Menace
Genesect @Choice Scarf / Choice Specs
Rash / Timid, Download
6 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spd
- Flamethrower
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- U-turn / Bug Buzz / Flash Cannon / Tri Attack / Energy Ball / Psychic

You want it, Dennis has it! Basically, Dennis has an amazing special movepool. But he's a bit on the slow side. Clearly, the solution is to give it a blue scarf, because when I wear a blue scarf I can only do one thing but I can do it really fast. The first moves are basically obvious - BoltBeam + Flamethrower. The last move is entirely up to you. U-turn lets you scout, Bug Buzz is better STAB, Flash Cannon is slightly worse STAB, Tri Attack has pretty good coverage, and Energy Ball and Psychic are just there because why not, amirite? But really go with U-turn or Bug Buzz. Choice Specs can be run on this set if you feel like it, I guess.

Rock Polish
Genesect @Life Orb
Modest, Download
6 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spd
- Rock Polish
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Bug Buzz / Flamethrower

99 Speed is kind of annoying, but Rock Polish can almost kind of bypass this. Switch in on something you can force out (read: almost anything without a Fire move), Rock Polish up, and hurt things. Thunderbolt and Ice Beam are no-brainers. Bug Buzz is a powerful STAB move, but Flamethrower is also viable for a guaranteed kill on Pokemon like Doryuzuu. I'd personally run Life Orb here to maximize the damage you dish out, but Leftovers can work if you want to use this guy early- or mid-game.

Physical Rock Polish
Genesect @Life Orb
Adamant, Download
6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
- Rock Polish
- X-Scissor
- Return / Explosion
- Magnet Bomb / Nitro Charge (lol)

If you are running physical Genesect, you are clearly a brave and intrepid soul who is not limited by such things as "bad movepools". Kind of like running special Keldeo, but with more suck. The basic idea behind the set is the same, but this time you'll be going for the element of surprise - after all, Genesect's Attack is just as high as its Sp. Attack, so why should this set be any worse? X-Scissor is the requisite STAB move in this set. Return and Magnet Bomb are there because they are basically the only other good physical moves there. Maybe seeing Magnet Bomb will cause your opponent to die of laughter, and you can win by timing them out. Or maybe you could run Explosion over Return, even though it isn't as awesome anymore. Or maybe throw Nitro Charge in there! You're probably not someone deterred by suck. Hell, why not put in Aerial Ace! Great Flying coverage!

Dual Screen
Genesect @Leftovers
Calm, Download
252 HP / 252 Def / 6 SpD
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Bug Buzz / Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt / Explosion

...why are you using Genesect to Dual Screen? Use Cresselia, or something.

I was going to make a Claw Sharpern moveset but really Genesect's physical movepool made me start crying.

Next time, on Zenith!:

...nah, just kidding. It's this guy:

I've found Porygon 2 and Burunkeru to be a great defensive wall. Porygon 2 acts as a special wall, shrugging off most special attacks with its impressive defenses, and Burunkeru takes physical hits pretty easily, especially after a burn from Boiling Water. PG2 covers Burunkeru's Ghost weakness, and handles the ever common special electric attacks. Burunkeru handles PG2's Fighting weakness. Yes this duo is a little predictable later in the game, but it can give you some early game momentum.

Only thing id change is shadowball for evil eye. With boiling water, toxic, and the small chance of icebeam or thunderbolt causing a status, its not to risky to rely on.
Also, nattorei works well with the jellyfish. Between them, all weaknesses are covered (only a few though). Nattorei can set up spikes and leech seed, and if you want explode when your done.

And cursed body for burunkeru instead of water absorb. Just to annoy even further.

I've found that dual status doesn't really work on Burungeru. Most physical sweepers in Gen. 5 carry some king of attack boosting move anyway, so they won't be really scared of the cripple of burns. I would recommend Safeguard over Toxic. Toxic Spikes seem to have grown more common with the introduction of Nattorei and the continued use of Forretress. Of course, a poison type could take care of this too, but this is a decent second option.

Just posting to say that this Roobushin set has been wroking for me. There might be some EV misplacements, because I'm no master and I created this set in 10 seconds, but hey.

Roobushin
Adamant@Leftovers
Iron Fist
252 HP/56 DEF/200 Sp. DEF
Drain Punch
Bulk Up
Mach Punch
Payback

It's designed to be a bit more specially bulky. Payback lets me hit Shandeera, which is really cool since I live attacks from Scarf Shandeera like nobody's business. Drain Punch and Mach Punch get STAB and the Iron Fist boost, so Drain Punch gives me a good amount of longevity.

Roobushin will be better used as a Focus Puncher. With good defencive stats, massive attack and of course Sub + FP it is going to be used like this probubly as it's most common set. It also is a pretty great Tyranitar counter. Probubly the best one out there. However, I must say that the metagame will be leaning toward more offence. With all these high powered additions, stall is gonna be in trouble.

Swimming goggles sounds fun. On dakenki, it boosts its ok speed especially its aqua jet if you go physical. Speed Boost sharpedo and floatzel can kill with the item i think.
What are good doryuuzu stoppers, especially with a garchomp with it.

Swimming Goggles don't exist, this was proven weeks ago.

Skarmory and Bronzong seem like good Dory blockers. Anything with Mach Punch and a good bit of power behind it (Breloom, Rooboo come to mind) could come in on SD and smash it about. Lucario could do the same with Vacuum Wave, but has to be careful of random EQ's off the bat. Anything with a Balloon intact that isn't weak to Rock Slide or X-Scissor would stand a good chance (like Heatran). At worst Ditto could come in and revenge it after it

As Cal said, I find Roobushin to be a great Doryuuzu counter. Also, I'mma add on to what The Assassin said, and say that Warubiaru is AMAZING. Get a revenge kill, and you are essentially holding Choice Scarf AND Choice Band on one set. The best part is that your opponent can't send something in as fodder to scout your move, because you hit 539 ATK (IIRC) at +1 with Adamant. Also, Zoroark. OMG. Illusion is just so beast. Send it in as a good disguise. They switch to a counter as you Nasty Plot, they realize it's a Zoroark and you get another Nasty Plot as they switch again. Granted, priority and Scarf screw it, but get those out of the way and Zoroark sweeps are really, really easy.

I think one thing we may be forgetting us the lack of item on NFEs with pre-evolution stone. Without leftovers this Chansey may not outclass Blissey at all, it will do better on the switch in, but more wishing and soft boiling will be required losing some PP stalls there. Leftovers seems quite useful so I'm not sure I would dump those for boosted defenses. I think the pre-evolution stone will really shine by making sweepers into terrifying bulky gods. Scream, Zigzagoon! But seriously, leftovers is not an item you want to put back in the trashcan you found it in.

Zuruzukin @ Leftovers (Shed Skin)
Jolly 106/152/0/0/0/252
~Hi Jump Kick
~Crunch
~Dragon Dance
~Rest
This set has proven to be amazing for me. Shed Skin + Rest is a great combo for healing, with a 33% chance of healing from sleep between every turn. It shouldn't be relied on too heavily, but it can work in a pinch. Crunch and Hi Jump Kick give almost perfect neutral type coverage, and with a Dragon Dance Boost a Max Speed Zuzu can outrun a large percentage of common threats without much fret. Shanderaa also makes a great teammate for it, switching in on Fighting type attacks (the only common weakness this Pokemon has) and Shadow Tagging them.

Zuruzukin is almost always wrecked by Roobushin, unless Zuruzukin has boosted to at least +2 Attack. Quite frankly, Roobushin isn't really countered completely by anything, with access to the Elemental Punches, Payback, Drain Punch as means of recovery, and Mach Punch as priority. Then, with 105/95/65 defences, he can make a great physically bulky sweeper with Bulk Up at its aid. A big issue is countering Roobushin. I have found an adequate method, and it manages decently. Stealth Rock will be up, wearing him down a bit. Then SandStorm set up my Sand Stream Also wears down Roobushin a bit. Then I switch in my Shandera on a Bulk Up or Fighting attack, and take advantage of Roobushin's base 65 Sp. Defence. Overheat from Shiddy does huge amounts damage, and with SR and Sandstorm damage, it's almost always an OHKO. That's my method of countering Roobushin. Any other methods that fair well against him? All comments and methods are welcomed.

Since no one has mentioned it yet.

Cloyster@Focus Sash/Icicle Jewel/Life Orb
Jolly/Adamant/Naive
Ability: Skill Link
EVs: Att: 252 SpA: 4 Spe: 252
Shell Break
Icicle Spear
Rock Blast
Hydro Pump/Shell Blade

Ice Jewel is a better item since then its Icicle Spear becomes more powerful. I'd actually use an Adamant nature and replace Hydro Pump with Shell Blade. This lets you invest more in Speed, depending on what you want to outpace.

I don't understand what you mean by Adamant allowing you to invest more in speed (since it rises speed), but as for Shell Blade and Ice Jewel, they are both good for the set, but Hydro Pump can sneak up on the opponent. In any case I saw Smogon suggest Life Orb and Naive.

Never mind, I was think Spe wasn't speed for some reason. The thing I don't like about LO on the set is you will take significant damage from a special attack if they use one before you pull off Shell Break. Thus you only get in 2-3 attacks if you are lucky.
