5th Gen Competitive Movesets and Metagame

Gyarados (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 52 HP / 56 Atk / 200 Def / 200 SDef
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge/ Bounce
- Taunt
- Thunder Wave

Gyarados set I made up for my team. I'm not going to post my entire team, but my team is centered around a Breloom/ Thundurus sweep, with a supporting cast of Forry, Gyara, Rotom W, and Blissey to cripple the opponent with Twave and Entry Hazards. I'm posting this set for three reasons:
1) Basic Analysis
2) Should I run Bounce or Stone Edge (maybe even EQ?)
3) Is there a better EV spread?

Thanks for the critiquing!

I like mismagius and so Im using it on my team and here's what I got for it.

Mismagius @ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
Timid Nature (+Spd,-Atk)
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 Sdef / 252 Spd
- Nasty Plot
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power (fighting)

Nasty Plot will start making mismagius hit like a truck. Shadow Ball is its best stab move. Thunderbolt hits waters that aren't part ground as well as flying pokes. HP(fighting) hits normal and steel and dark types which I think would switch into mismagius often.

Feedback please?

Well for future refrence Speed is Spe cause Spd looks like Sp. Defense :D
Actually, it's just based on personal prefrence. Some people call it spd, other spe

Well in the game it is Spe and spd is confusing >_>
I don't see how you could make that connection because it's not abbreviated in the game but ok... >_>

okay, ive got a moveset i'd like for one of my VGC team members, but im not sure if he can have it cause two of them are egg moves, and the two moves can only be egged by two different pokemon. but heres what i want. (egg moves in [])

Conkeldurr@Flame Orb
Adamant-up atk lower sp.a
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 atk, 252 HP
Facade
[Mach Punch]
[Drain Punch]
Payback

if anyone has any idea if this is possible, let me know asap. it is of vital importance for my team.

also, for my whimsi, i would do this,

Whimsicott@Leftovers
Timid EVs: 252 Spd 252 HP
Ablility: Prankster
Hidden Power (Fire)
Leech Seed
Protect
Tailwind

He's a TR counter, and id have HP to quickly kill other whimsi's, but only prob is, i havent ever used HP so i dont know how it is HP's type is picked. :/

help please.

Thanks

First, breed a pokemon so that conkeldurr gets mach punch. Then breed the timburr with mach punch with a combatible pokemon with drain punch, and voila! Also, I would drop payback for bulk up or stone edge. Hope this helps!

thanks. thats what i thought, but a highly trusted friend of mine thought otherwise. so i just wanted to make sure about conkeldurr. and i have payback for psychic type kill. as it is a TR counter. youll read all about it if you look at my trade thread.

Thanks.

I think Durant is very much underrated, considered it was only designed to be the victim of Heatmor. But I came across this moveset on YouTube that might make quite the annoying Durant! ^_^

632.png

Durant @Leftovers
Jolly Nature. EVs: 252 Attack, 252 Speed and 4 HP
Ability: Hustle
Atk 1: Hone Claws
Atk 2: Iron Head
Atk 3: Sand Attack
Atk 4: Substitute

I haven't actually tried it out yet (I'm looking for a Jolly Durant) but by my calculations, it can actually outspeed an Infernape. Plus Hustle adds power and the combination of Sand Attack (Accuracy reduction) and Iron Head (Flinching) could get quite powerful and annoying for the opponent. And there's always Substitute as a Plan B.
I think people coming up with combinations for Entrainment and Durant's Dream World Ability, Traunt is a little premature (as it hasn't actually been released in the Dream World yet) and very risky, considering Traunt will still effect Durant whether you've used Entrainment or not.

Please tell me what you think :3

Scrafty's Slow n' Steady Orb n' Band Set (OU Trick Room Life Orb/Choice Band Set)

Scrafty@Life Orb/Choice Band
Brave
252 Atk 252 HP

- Hi-Jump Kick/Ice Punch/Drain Punch/Dragon Claw/Crunch/Payback/Stone Edge/Rock Slide/Dragon Tail
- What I just said above, also applies to the rest of the slots.
- Including this one.
- And this one.

Scrafty's giant Physical Movepool, Nifty Defences, Good Attack, and Pee-Poor Speed makes it a candiate for a Trick Room team. Hi-Jump Kick will get rid of opposing Scrafty, and provides STAB, Ice Punch rids Gliscor, Dragon Claw will get rid of Salamence, Crunch also will provide STAB, and Flinches, Payback will hold more power, but can be risky, Stone Edge to get rid of Galvantula, Rock Slide to also flinch. Take your pick, and bulid your own with the set.

@Netherwing, IIRC, Hustle lowers the Pokemon with that ability's accuracy. And accuracy reducing is risky because you opponent could just switch out.

This is arguably one of the most broken movesets ever. Prove me wrong!

Whimsicott @ Leftovers
Calm Nature
252 HP / 252 Sp. DEF / 4 DEF

* Substitute
* Leech Seed
* Encore
* Cotton Guard

Ability - Prankster

Please explain what you mean by 'broken'. Any Whimsicott set that doesn't invest in Speed is just Thundurus set-up bait. Also, you can easily beat Whimsicott to death by just attacking since Whimsicott always lacks an attacking move. Cotton Guard is a really useless move, in my opinion. People are just going to hit you on the special side. Trying to attack with physical attacks would just be silly.

Didn't read version; Thundurus.

To prove my Serperioty
OR
The Serperior-Doesn't-Need-Contrary-To-Be-A-Good-Pokemon-Because-It's-Unlikely-To-Get-It-Via-Dream-World-Anytime-Soon Set (Physical Edition) (Physical Life Orb Serperior Set)

Serperior @ Life Orb
Adamant/Jolly
252 Atk 252 Spd

- Coil
- Glare
- Leaf Blade
- Return

Now, this plays with Serperior in his Physical Moveset, allowing him to Permacripple via Glare, use Coil to increase his stats, and take down the opponent. (All except those who can resist this. *CoughHeatranCough*)

Or you can use this:

The SDNCTBAGPBIUTGIVDWAS (Anagram) Set Special Version

Serperior @ Life Orb

Modest/Timid
252 SpA 252 Spd

- Calm Mind
- Glare
- Giga Drain/Solarbeam (Sunny Team)/ Enegry Ball
- Hidden Power (Rock, for the Genies, and Chandelure, or Ground, for Heatran)

This version allows Serperior to take up his Special Movepool, and beat up the others. THIS set allows to touch Chandelure/Heatran, depending on which you use.

Please rate these sets.

TDL, you can't say that 100% as not every Thunder Genie has taunt, most of Nasty Plot versions which it can Encore + Sub then annoy the opponent to death. Cotton Guard isn't to bad, but I really feel there are better choices. I like Taunt typically, or even U-Turn for momentum. However, but it is in NO WAY broken. I just play around with it until I can succesfully kill it.

Thanks for proving to me that Whimsicott is all hype. I was going with the risk of running it in my Gen 5 Trick Room Team but I would've made a foolish decision had I started breeding for one.

Whimsicott is not all hype, it is very useful in some situations. An example is on bulkier rain teams, especially with Thunder Genie as they are great partners as Whimsicott can support through U-Turn momentum and Leech Seed Support which Nasty Plot versions appreciate quite a bit.
