Ask a Play! Pokémon Question

RE: Ask a Simple Play! Pokémon Question

The person who would be running the tournaments needs a Player Id first. After they have done so, they need to make an account on pokemon.com. One of the tabs has a bunch of links, one of which is a link to applying to become a tournament organizer.

That seems kinda stupid imo. Why should owners of stores need a player id? Should just be as easy as running Magic tournaments. Sigh.

RE: Ask a Simple Play! Pokémon Question

For those of you who live in Mesa Arizona, where are some active leagues to go to? I went to the saturday league at gamers inn that starts at 12 and ends at 3 yesterday and no one showed up, like by no one i mean no one. I heard theres league at Gotham city comics i havent checked that out yet. But before i do i want to know where all the active ones are so im not wasting time haha, thanks guys!

RE: Ask a Simple Play! Pokémon Question

When you search for leagues, if you actually pull up the league's page it should say how many players were reported during past seasons. That might help you a bit. You might also try asking [member]dmaster[/member] since I know he lives in AZ.

RE: Ask a Simple Play! Pokémon Question

What is it like to run a league? My friend is asking me to take hers over as she can no longer run it and doesn't want to see it die out. Is it a lot of work? We meet on Saturdays at a Library, so it doesn't interfere with many things, but I just want to know what different organizers think

RE: Ask a Simple Play! Pokémon Question

It isn't too hard really. All you need to do is mark their scorecards and sometimes provide game rulings depending on if there is a Professor in your league or not. I'd recommend having a specific time for marking scorecards so you aren't doing that every five minutes. You also should hang onto the scorecards at the end of the session because people lose them and you'll also have their Player ID for reporting.

RE: Ask a Simple Play! Pokémon Question

I have a question about the reward program:
I think I read that the points reset, so does that mean every quarter if I wanted to be in the top tier I'll have to participate in 11 events? that seems like a lot or maybe even impossible since you only get one credit for each league season and there'll only be about 3 in each quarter.

Yes it does. You still get some rewards as long as you go to at least 1 event.

RE: Ask a Simple Play! Pokémon Question

So, I have 2 Battle Roads wins and 2 top 4s at Battle Roads. With the best finish limit, winning four more Battle Roads in the spring would get me 40 more championship points right?

RE: Ask a Simple Play! Pokémon Question

Random question on Nats this year at Indianapolis: do you have to pay to get into the Convention Center? Or is it free? (I know competing in Nats is free, but to get in, do we need to pay for some sort of pass?) If so, how much is it per day? Thanks!

RE: Ask a Simple Play! Pokémon Question

The event itself is free, however, parking you are going to have to pay for. It depends on where you park on the cost. Some hotels you can park in for an additional fee. That is what I usually do.

RE: Ask a Simple Play! Pokémon Question

Sweet! My buddy and I are gonna end up booking a hotel relatively close to the center and probably walk to the site. Sounds excellent.

RE: Ask a Simple Play! Pokémon Question

How do you figure out whether or not you'll get in first place, second place, etc.

Its not just beating every opponent, so I don't know what else it is. I mean I know there's a point system, but I don't know any details about it.

RE: Ask a Simple Play! Pokémon Question

The three categories that determine your ranking in a Tournament are your Record, your Opponent's Win Percentage, and your Opponent's Opponent's Win Percentage.

Basically the last two just come down to...how well your opponent ended up and how well the people your opponent ended up. The standings will look at each category in order but sometimes the last one isn't even necessary unless the Opponent's Win Percentage ends up being tied between two or more players.

dmaster out.

Ask a Simple Play! Pokémon Question

Are there any public events that go on at Worlds? I know there are LCQs to get in, but are there side events at the location for those who did not get their invite/points?

RE: Ask a Simple Play! Pokémon Question

So,
I'm currently a senior and I'm 15 but during the middle of next season I will turn 16. This brings up two questions I'd like to ask...
1.) If I'm 16 am I classed as a senior or a master
2.) If I start the season and compete as a senior and turn 16 (If it is the age where you go into masters) do I continue the rest of the season as a senior or move up to masters?

Thanks
