Avatar: The Legend of Korra

Wow. Dat finale tho. Dat ending scene tho. Dat season tho.

Those fights were awesome and the show leaves off on a huge moment leading into the next season. This will be very interesting.

dmaster out.

In regards to the season finale:

The season finale sets up perfectly for a time skip since it will take years for Korra to recover while I fear that Zaheer may have already succeeded in ending the avatar cycle that he and the Red Lotus sought out to achieve which means that the world may now have to learn how to survive without the avatar just as they did before Wan started the avatar cycle with Raava that led up to the current events of the series.

Actually, I've been told that next season WILL be airing on television once more... moving to online-only was a temporary action for the last few episodes of the season only.

When does the next season start? I hope it's 26 episodes, as it's going to be the final Korra Season.

That finale was amazing!

Don't spoil yourself before watching the finale! It's not worth it!

I'm so happy Tenzin didn't die. I was really scared that those rumours were true and that Jinora was meant to replace him or something like that.

The action scenes were awesome; I was not disappointed from watching Korra battle in the avatar state. Was I the only one secretly hoping she somehow managed to reconnect to her past lives, though? I guess it does make her more special, since, just like Wan, she has no past lives to depend on and has to solve things by herself.

Bolin and lava bending! I felt it coming during the episode, but I wasn't thinking about it before the finale. It was a nice surprise. Their battle was amazing. I'm kind of happy that they are allowing on-screen deaths now. Even though it's subtle, it's better than forever wondering whether someone lived or died. (I'm glad they officially cleared up the doubt-case Jet.) I'm glad Mako didn't go soft and actually used his lightning.

Jinora becoming an official Air Bending Master was pretty cool to see. She looks so much like Aang without her hair! That was really nice.

I can't wait for the next season. Still hoping for her to reconnect with the past lives, though.

Well, since I seem to be the only one here with disappointment, let me explain why I feel cheated.

First of all, I was genuinely impressed with all of The Ultimatum. Not only did it tie in Bolin and Mako's family, but it really gave the sense of urgency. It was the first episode I have seen in any Avatar season where I felt concerned for the characters. Tenzin's last stand was beautiful, but unfortunately, it wasn't his last stand. I understand that people didn't want him to die, but I feel like it would have been the right move. Tenzin has served his purpose already by training Korra and reviving the Air Nation and Jinora was proving herself to eventually take his place. Not only would his death be significant with Korra, it would be significant to the would and would show the great lengths the RL would be willing to go to. Tenzin was NOT the RL's only leverage, considering they had all the other Airbenders, so his death would have been the logical choice.

Kai, should have also died or at least been significantly injured. He sacrificed his life for the others, redeeming himself for his past mistakes and proving that he was a true Airbender. I suppose his survival was only for plot convenience though.

I was also convinced that Lyn or Su were going to kick the can or Toph was going to be involved. With all of the time spent developing their characters, I thought their would be something significant with that family. Especially when Lyn told Su that she loved her right before battling P'li.

Lastly, as far as deaths are concerned, I really with Korra's dad would have died as well. Died while protecting his daughter. How perfect that would have been. Unfortunately, good guys can never die and it takes away a lot of the impact that it could have had. Korra would have been rightfully traumatized had her dad and Tenzin died because of her. Now, I'm not arguing that I like to see the good guys die, but in this instance, it would have been particularly devastating if they would have offed a few of the major characters. They have already shown that the RL will do what it takes to further their agenda, so why did the writers hold back so the good guys could conveniently survive?

Anyway, Pli's death was warrented since Zaheer needed a way to let go of his Earthly attachments, but I wish the others would have survived to carry on into the 4th book. I know that it was stated that every story arc would be self contained, but they also only planned once season initially. This had the makings for a 2 book story-line. The RL was not fleshed out as much as I would have liked. I wanted to see more character development from the others to get a clear idea of their personality. Ming Hua was pretty wreckless, though, so her death fit her character. But I just can't understand why Ghazan killed himself when he could have escaped as easily as Bolin and Mako. It was such a waste.

Finally, I am very confused about what the RL wanted Korra for in the first place. If they wanted to be her elemental masters years ago, what changed now that they wanted her dead? It seemed like they wanted to kill the Avatar all along, so Zaheer must have lied about wanting to train her when she was young. I was expecting something more elaborate than just ending the cycle.

All in all, I enjoyed the season for what it could have been. It had potential in my eyes and I will just have to imagine it slightly differently :)

I would guess that Zaheer only really wanted her to open the Spirit portals, and then at some point thereafter to kill her, but not before using her as a weapon to carry out his agenda. Obviously she had to go at some point in his mind, because the avatar is the quintessential leader.

So can you only nest a single spoiler? Or is it possible to add more layers some other way?

Jegus. Korra looks like a Zombie. I never though Zuko would look so young and fit next to her. XD

My goodness. The creators wasn't kidding, the emotional scale on the finale is SUPER high. I love how those three baddies died because they deserved it! I felt so bad for Tenzin, looking so sad at the Northern Air Temple. It's completely destroyed. I'm so happy for Jinora, to finally became an airbending master. Also, Korra...whoa. I really hope she'll snap out of the depression state otherwise something might happen to the nations or the "ambassador airbenders". *shudders*

PS: I wonder if Bolin's gonna give up on metalbending, since he's a lavabender.

Why did three of the Exbendables have to die? We never did find out if Ghazan and Ming Hua had a thing. And P'li could've used more development besides "Zaheer's earthly tether".
And Korra must feel very useless now. She can't bend, and the airbenders are doing her job for her. Amon may have been right, the world doesn't need her anymore.

My my. I love the finale--especially with Jinora. God, this sucks. Finale was awesome and we have to wait for Book 4.

*sobs*

They stopped showing the show on Nick, and that made me so mad, but it's mostly because they baerly advertised it outside of the show itself. I never actually saw an ad for Legend of Korra when I wasn't watching it, so that sucks.

According to rumors I've heard Book 4 will only span 13 episodes while the series will continue afterward in the comics.

What? There are comics?

I heard about it from a fellow YouTuber known as Emergency Awesome:

Dark Horse Comics did publish a comic book series for Avatar: The Last Airbender awhile back, as to whether or not
it takes place right after the events of the first series I'm unsure since I didn't follow Legend of Aang as much as I did with
Legend of Korra.

We won't have to wait for long because I heard IGN said that Book 4 will air early in 2015 and it's pretty much done production-wise. :D

And that finale...holy cow the feels! I'm so happy for Jinora mastering airbending! Aang would be so proud. And the way they showed the Air Temple collapsing like that...dang. And how P'Li blew herself up...let's just say that was the most metal thing I have ever seen. Literally.
