ORAS Changes to the Hoenn Pokédex?

I just mean that having Skitty be hoard only and have it in the Hoenn dex is a bad idea. I think all hoard Pokémon should be National dex only.

anything that can be found within the main game, will be in the hoenndex no matter what.
including all hordes unless they are in areas unavailable till postgame.

(its horde not hoard)

But I still think it's dumb having Hoardé only Pokémon being in the Hoenn dex. I mean, we'll end up waiting days for some Pokémon to become available and then you end up KOing them, instead of weakening them and you don't yet have access to Ultra Balls.

then just get something low levelled enough so it doesn't KO them in one hit, and then either abuse sweet scent on something or have a ton of Honeys.

also, that accent on horde doesn't make any sense. so now we're supposed to say it hord-ay?

You know you can trigger Horde Battles if you have Sweet Scent, right? It doesn't take "days" to find Horde exclusives. And you shouldn't have too much of an issue weakening them until your Pokemon start getting into the 20's or so, which is right around the time you start finding Ultra Balls anyway.

I heard the Hoenn Dex in X & Y are going to be very similar to the old Hoenn dex. I think it will pretty much stay the same XD.:)

I think that unless they planned large changes to the hoenn dex they wouldn't have directly acknowledged that it is gonna be expanded.

however... the amount it will be expanded is anyones guess.

They haven't directly acknowledged that it's going to be expanded. "More Pokemon than there were before" could mean several different things. The only hint we have of an expanded dex is that Phoebe uses Dusknoir.

I could've sworn it was confirmed in last month's CoroCoro?

I'm pretty sure I've read it somewhere as well. Can't remember where though..

CoroCoro merely gave a vague hint of "More Pokemon than there were before". Now that could refer to new Pokemon, but keep in mind that it was on the page with Mega Metagross, so probably not. It could just refer to new Mega Evolutions.

There's absolutely nothing that confirms the Hoenn Dex is expanded beyond cross gen evolutions at this point. Maybe if we're lucky, they'll show some off in the upcoming issue, but it's anyone's guess at this point if they're actually in the game.

this thread just got finished by a new screenshot

Yeah, exactly 9 spots moved back, which is the number of new stages of Hoenndex pokemon added after RSE (meaning in gen 4 obviously as 5/6 only added Sylveon).

All the speculation out the window.

Barely anything changes.

-Budew (we've seen this wild just in XY, why. no one probably cares.)
-Roserade (This one matters, as Roselia was crap without it when it debuted.)
-Gallade (oh well, doubt Wally will go this way...again, why did they shove these Hoennmons in our faces in XY?)
-Probopass (as nice as Roserade for anyone who'll use it)
-Magnezone (Wattson won't be using one despite being able to and we've had this option for the past 2 game sets)
-Dusknoir (a Dusclops evolves on Phoebes team, which is nice)
-Chingling (uhuh)
-Rhyperior (don't see this one being used by npcs)
-Froslass (Yay, Glacia gets a new toy, though her entire team is still only 2 evolutionary lines)

so NOTHING changes in the wild, no actual lines are added, and barely any NPC rosters are touched.

Fairly disappointed with this.

At least there is still hope for Regigigas, right? seriously gamefreak, at least this one is a no-brainer.

Way to drop the ball on this one Game Freak! Yeah, I don't think I'll be getting this game now, I don't want to play a game that's 95% a game I played 10 years ago.

Considering they are improving the story, and shoving megas all over the places and whatnot....would it really be too extreme to add some diversity gamefreak?

I can already see how much more fun all those water routes will be now that they hold the same pokemon but with hordes of Tentacool xD

But oh well, was almsot gonna get my hopes further up after that Mega Lopunny reveal. Seems that one will have to wait for the post-game then. Which does mean more hope for possible non-hoenndex Megas though, so that's cool.

Here are the new dex numbers for Pokémon with different dex numbers:
  • Feebas is 145 and Milotic is 146
  • Pichu is 162, Pikachu is 163 and Raichu is 164
  • Bagon is 196, Shelgon is 197 and Salamence is 198

The Feebas line moved down 5 spaces because of Gallade, Probopass, Magnezone, Budew and Roserade.
The Pichu line moved down 2 more spaces, because of Dusknoir and Chingling.
The Bagon line moved down another 2 more spaces because of Rhyperior and Froslass.

So this either means there are no new Pokémon added to the ORAS dex, bar evolutions and prevolutions added through gen 4, or all the extra Pokémon get put after Metagross or the Regis/Latis. Like in Platinum.

There's no reason to renumber the dex with cross gen evos and not new families, it's redundant to do both. There's a couple of things they could do to get around this, but I think it's 99.99% no new Pokemon, the rest of the game is so minimalist and nostalgia faithful that it makes sense that they wouldn't want to mess with the Hoenn Dex.

I'm actually happy the dex stayed the same besides 4th gen evolutions and pre-evolutions. A lot of new Pokemon = too many choices. If there are several Pokemon I like, I may have to choose between some. Like in XY, where I had to choose between Pangoro, Malamar, and Absol. Really, there were so many Pokemon I wanted to use. It hurts to have to choose between one Pokemon or the other.

I couldn't care less.. I'm still gonna use Houndoom and Arcanine as fire-types as no Hoenn Dex Fire pokémon are worth using... I'll just trade eggs from XY... At least I can use Magnezone and Rhyperior, which I was already planning to do...

I find this confusing, on the one hand it's a remake, but on the other there were just so many Pokemon available in X/Y just having 6 or so Pokemon added to the Hoenndex seems like too few.

IF they add any. Audino and Buneary line could be post-game only.

So slowpoke line, buneary line, and audino are in.

Most likely not. The Dex numbers posted on the main site imply that only cross gen evos are being added. Slowpoke, Buneary, and Audino are probably post game.
