Do you play Magic the gathering?

I just got into it a few years back, but no one in my area plays so I really never get to play anyone. :/

You should try Magic the Gathering: Online. There's never a shortage of players online to have a game with.

Only thing is, you have to buy the cards on MTGO too. Luckily they're cheaper than their cardboard versions, but they cost money just the same.

Tickets. But tickets cost money ($1 per ticket). For your $10 start-up fee to get your account, you get a bunch of gold-edged cards, which can be used, but not with normal black-bordered cards. You also get a bunch of M11 cards (black-bordered, so tournament legal), and a pack of M11 (all this will change to M12 in a couple of weeks).

If you do make an account on MTGO, I would suggest you wait a couple weeks, because the new sets have later release dates online. If you wait until maybe... the beginning of August, you'll get M12 cards instead of M11 (I think).

It's not really worth it if you don't have a large budget. I only use it for drafts, then sell the cards I pull to draft again.

Something more like RedShark would probably be Cockatrice. I can't link to it, but if you Google it you should find it. Unfortunately, it isn't as reliable as MTGO, and a whole lot less popular. And you have to do everything manually. But it's all free, and the deck-building is pretty good.

hey everyone i came back from my PR a few hours ago, i went 2-2 and used a blue black control sort of deck, the star of my deck was frost titan, i pulled frosrt titan, bloodlord of vassgoth, and furyborn hellkite, i think for my first real games of magic i did decent.

Nice pulls... how did the Bloodlord perform? I'm interested to know, because I'm having trouble evaluating him in sealed. In draft, he would probably be great, since you have 3 packs of common/uncommon Vampires to take, but in Sealed... not sure how he would perform, unless you pulled a cocophany of other Vampires.

he preformed decent mostly because of blood thirst, people would hit me for damage with flying creatures then cast bloodlord just to get the bloodthirst.

that was if people pulled him, other creatures would get bloodthrist after attacking, i lost one of my matches because my opponent hit me with a drifting shade(which btw is a decent card) and then cast bloodlord to get the bloodthrist.

Magic Workstation is what I use to play MTG online, never heard of Cockatrice. And yeah, MTGO isn't a good bargain lol.

Magic Workstation also lets you get pictures (fulls and crops), and everything is really easy to do, and not ugly (like Redshark imo).

Maybe if we all get MTGO and arrange a time we could play each other. Maybe set up a tournament?

I've never participated in a tournament before, so I'll have to study up on the formats. My friends and I just play casually, just following the Power Nine list (I think there might also be a smaller banlist, but I can't remember).

i haven't been playing magic that long so im going to need a more time to make a good deck before i participate ina tournament, but the new format for standard it scar of mirordin and further.

I recently started a MTG Group in the Pokebeach Groups Forum. It will have organized tournaments every couple weeks or so.

I've tried Workstation, I find it inferior to Cockatrice.

For formats, I think Standard would be our best option (Zendikar block, Scars block, and M11 (and M12 when it comes out)), since all the sets are new and it is a relatively small format, as opposed to an eternal format like Legacy,

Zendikar is actually out when Innistrad comes out.

Anybody here play EDH/Commander Format in Magic? I've played at least one game so far and it's a blast. There's a Banned List for what cards can't be played and what Generals you can't use and the main two are Rofellos and Braids.
