I think we need something like this as we seem to have people all over the place asking how to do certain things to fakes etc.

If you want to simply announce a concept/set you're working on, I hope this thread will do the trick.

Important: The required blanks and fonts required to make fake cards are in the 'Fake Card Resources' stickied thread.
 
I suppose.

What this forum needs is detailed instructions (with pictures++) on how to do funky art tricks so I can 1) make Xous's art look pimpin'er and 2) ...actually that's the only reason.

I can try something or make a Meme/How To page if you want me to.

Slightly off topic: PMJ Lovin' the 2nd banner of yours....it's a classic.

Here are two Photoshop tutorials that can give fairly funky effects for card backgrounds.

I've put these in the Resources thread too, I hope to have some more soon.
 
In theory the tutorial thread can accommodate questions and such, but as this forum is relatively small I see no harm in beefing it up with another sticky. So... whala!
 
I agree with the pictures tutorials.

I have TONS of card ideas and cant figure out how to edit anything. The best I can do is insert a picture onto the card blank using Paint. Clearly, that is not the best option.

For instructions, might i suggest noting the computers? People like me, may only have older computers while some have new ones.
My operating system is windows ME. I need a "Creating Fake Pokemon cards on Windows ME for Dummies" book. lol

But yeah, a list or table of contents of what programs you need. Where to get them and how to use them.
 
I'll try to sort out some more detailed info at a later date, but for now here's what I use:

- HP TouchSmart (about 3 years old)
- Windows Vista
- Adobe Photoshop CS2

For ^, you should be fine with ME as an OS, as long as it runs pretty well. You will need a decent GFX program though, most people use Photoshop. I haven't got a clue on prices, but CS4 is the latest one so you should be able to get CS2/3 fairly cheaply. In shops for CS4, it's extortion, so be wary.
 
Okay thanks. As of now, im downloading PhotoShop to my school computer which has windows vista.

I have card blanks. (lv X blanks)
And I downloaded and extracted and installed those Fonts.

What is that "HP Touchsmart"?

Remember, until I have done this once, Im a n00b. Answer me as though I were a total idiot. lol


Also, how do I edit or make the cool fake pokemon card art? For example, PMJ's Kabutops Lv X looks totally amazing, but the picture was made by him. How did he do that?

EDIT: I just finished installing the PhotoShop. One problem; when I click on it, an error window comes up. "Failed to initiate security client. Error 202" Or somthing like that.

Are there any other simple options to do this?
Can I still use the Font download for other programs?

I'm just going to say you can get an version of Photoshop 100% free.

As for the error your having shadow, I honestly have never encountered that issue and I suggest going to the adobe site and seeing if they have an error code book so you can fine out how to fix it.

The problem with the install may be as it is your school computer - sometimes they block what can be installed. You should be able to install Photoshop fine on your ME computer. Touchsmart is simply the computer I use, it doesn't really matter. As for PMJ's Kabutops, I'm pretty sure that Xous drew the art, I agree it is amazing :) I'm not quite sure how he does it, I imagine it is drawn in Photoshop. The fonts will work with any program that reads fonts from your Windows 'FONTS' folder, that's pretty much any basic program, including Microsoft Office and Paint, as well as Photoshop and other graphic editors. I hope you're referring to the 30-day demo, because otherwise that sounds pretty illegal.

i have recently opened an account here and as i did i happend across your fake shining dragonite card.i feel it would be perfect for me to use as an avatar and signature.i just wanted to get ur approval before i used it.i am currently using it but if u object it will be removed....thanks
 
Bud, that's absolutely fine :) I'm actually quite flattered - although a rather important note, make sure you put "Thanks to Cascade Gonpory for the fake card blank" in there somewhere, he made the blank so he deserves credit :)

Sorry mate, I'm a little confused - a Photoshop account? Do you mean Photobucket, or have Adobe got a new service out?
 
I have no idea where else to post this so I'll just ask here.

Does anyone here make their fake cards with GIMP??? I just downloaded it and need help. I have no clue how to work the program or how to start. Please PM me if you can help me through it a bit.

Sorry mate, I use photoshop, but I'm sure someone who uses GIMP can help.
