42_Chocolate is speaking the absolute truth. Honestly, violence in school or pretty much anywhere should be avoided in all costs. However, I describe "self-defense" as a completely different idea. It is perfectly fine to defend yourself in the given situation if you are struck at with someone's fist. Of course, if you can avoid fighting by not preventing a fight in the first place, do exactly so. Also, you don't have to fight back. Although it may seem immature, you can flee. If you are fast enough to completely veil yourself from any violence, you shouldn't worry about being "cool" or "brave". It's more important if you come out untouched, physically and mentally. If you have a mindset for fighting and believe you can defeat anyone, you likely won't. :]
